Bible Question: I am of the Catholic faith and having a Catholic family you are baptized as a infant usually. I was baptized at 3 months old. Before I ever had a choice. Well, my question is that most of my life I have sinned plenty more or less walked away from God but am now back closer than I ever been and plan on staying that way. Well, so do I need to be baptized again? I mean the first time it wasn't even my choice. Does it still count as the same? In the bible they get baptized as adults and then turn their life around (born again) so should I go get baptized again? |
Bible Answer: This is what the bible says about baptism..." 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. (Acts 8:35-38.) Based on that I would say that a person should be baptized in water only after he or she has believed with all his/her heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Any prior baptism is of no consequence. |
