Subject: Isn't adultrey grounds for divorce? |
Bible Note: I wasn't aware that I said a lack of "happiness" justified divorce at any time. I think, in fact, that I said quite the opposite. Jesus himself gave the grounds for divorce (the only grounds acceptable to me, btw). i am in no way defending divorce. Just stating, that scripturally, there are grounds for it and that when discussing such painful and emotionally stressful subjects (at least with someone that is currently suffering them) we should guide in gentleness and love. While guiding and advising forgiveness and love we should also recognize that Jesus himself gave a reason for justified divorce and respect any persons authority in that circumstance to choose that option. I do feel that it should be a last resort when the one committing the adultery refuses to change their behavior. How can there be forgiveness without repentance? Even God requires that we repent so we can be forgiven. |
