Bible Question: My question is on Abraham...everyone always makes a deal about Abraham fathering Isaac at 100 years. BUT he also fathered 6 more sons with his 2nd wife Keturah and he was way over 100...Sarah had died so he must of started fathering at 134....this to me is more amazing but no one ever mentions this fact...why the big deal w/Isaac and not his other sons. also why don't we hear more about the linage of these son's with all the problems in the middle east? |
Bible Answer: chach, Isaac was heir to the promice, in that the Jewish nation would come through Abraham in his son Isaac. I would assume any other children he had would be in the same category as Ishmael. This would put them "outside of" God's chosen people the Jews. They would then be considered "gentiles" and would not be in the lineage of Israel, thus, outside of God's chosen people. So, the Bible would have no reason to continue their history or significance. Anyone else have a better explaination as this is all I can come up with? Seeking to serve Him, InGodITrust |
