Subject: The GAP theory could be true. |
Bible Note: Greetings Doc! Thanks for the link! It has some interesting resource materials in it. However, nothing in the article actually impacts the issue of apparent age. The author himself says on page 24: "Whatever the philosophical conclusions, it is important to note that an apparent old Earth is consistent with the great amount of scientific evidence." (Apparent age is dealt with on pages 23-24) The primary problem with all of the dating techniques is the assumptions involved. It is assumed that everything evolved. If they didn't, then the dating techniques are inaccurage. Consider the example of Adam that I used! Would an investigator into his death assume that he was born in the normal manner or that he was created? If the assumption was made that he was born naturally, then the age given for Adam would be higher than in actuality (off by whatever 'age' Adam was created at by God). The only real problem raised with apparent age is that some claim it makes God a deceiver. I don't buy it though simply because Scripture tells us how God created everything. We just don't listen! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
