Bible Note: AMPLIFIED Romans 4:15 For the Law results in [divine] wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression [of it either]. This is what I mean: The laws [given to Moses] 430 years after God had already put his promise [to Abraham] into effect didn't cancel the promise [to Abraham]. Galatians 3:17 (GOD'S WORD Translation ) When was the law given? It was given 430 years after Abraham. Sctt: You write: "the law was in place." My questions for you are: If you're talking about the laws given to Moses, how could they be in place, since they had not yet been given? Moreover, if the laws given to Moses were in place at the time of Adam, Eve and Cain, then for what reason were they given later? Wouldn't it be redundant for God to give a law that was already in place? ------------- NASB Galatians 3:17 What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. AMPLIFIED Galatians 3:17 This is my argument: The Law, which began 430 years after the covenant [concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot annul the covenant previously established (ratified) by God, so as to abolish the promise and make it void.
