NASB | Genesis 9:5 "Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man's brother I will require the life of man. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 9:5 "For your lifeblood I will most certainly require an accounting; from every animal [that kills a person] I will require it. And from man, from every man's brother [that is, anyone who murders] I will require the life of man. [Ex 21:28, 29] |
Bible Question (short): Is NIV version not worded right? |
Question (full): My NIV version puts it quite differntly:And for your life blood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, to I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. Genesis 9:5 What are CEV and NLT translations? My NIV version seems to indicate animals must give account for their actions rather than die if they kill a human as your two translations indicate. I just looked at King James version and it seems to match your two versions more closely than the NIV. Is the NIV version just not worded properly? Chusarcik |
