Bible Question: Help me understand the word lifeblood and its meaning. I could eat flesh as long as it doesnt have blood in it is how I read it and all flesh has blood in it. |
Bible Answer: Tony is it? Hello Tony, I might be able to help. Being a vegetarian, I would LOVE to tell you the Bible is saying don't eat meat, but that would be an out and out lie. I can't offer up biblical support. Only hunters terms. When one kills an animal for consumption, it is eviscerated. That's to say it is drained of it's blood and cleaned of all it's organs. It's along the lines of being civilized. At the time of Genesis, people were still uncivilized. Just killing something and ripping it apart for consuption! The Lord wished for us to have restraint, grace, proper control of ourselves. What have you. While it's true that body tissue retains a small amount fluid after it's been cleaned, the Lord is not instructing His people to be vegetarian. If He was, He wouldn't give later instruction as to which animals were proper eating as He does in Leviticus, chapter 11 and Deuteronomy, chapter 14. I don't know about you, but I was outright insulted when PETA launched their "leave a lasting impression" campaign. Be well, Lisa |
