Bible Question:
Am I reading this right that this verse is a prophecy about the Messiah? Also, is there elsewhere I can find references to or information about Shiloh? Blessing to all who follow the Christ |
Bible Answer: Yes, this blessing from Jacob to his son Judah is a prophetic blessing. Shiloh was where God dwelled among the 12 tribes of Israel when they came back to the promised land from 430 years in Egypt. You can read more about Shiloh in Joshua chapter 18. Shiloh means rest. This was a time when all Israel finally had rest after the land was apportioned to the 12 tribes.God had given all of Israel's enemies into their hands. But God did not dwell for long in Shiloh as he went to Zion due to Israel's disobedience. (Remember, Israel means "he who strives with God" and certainly is a picture of us today. We need to seek God;s rest through our obedience,) |
