Bible Note: Why does the bible seem to contradict itself regarding the commandments of God? The contreversey is that we are no longer under the law and the Ten Commandments were under the law. The book of Galatians seems to be speaking of the law of circumcision but Roman's I'm not quit so sure. I can't get a clear understanding and when I get answers there seems to be other scriptures that contradict the ones I received (in the "Christian" Church.) The Ten Commandments teach us how to love God and our neighbor. The first 4 teach us how we are to love God the last 6 teach us how to love our neighbor. It would seem to me that these laws are spiritual (from beginning to end) but I don't have scripture to prove it. Why would God do away with the law's that teach us to love? There doesn't seem to be any burden in them. There is nothing that says do not touch, do not taste, works or sacrifices. The NT quotes them many times and the book of Rev. says 3 different times that Christ is returning for a church that keeps the commandments and the testimony of Jesus Christ. This contridicts that the Ten Commandments are not in effect because they are under the law. I continuelly hear we are saved by grace. Grace is God's unmerritted favor. The Father sent His Son to die for the penalty of our sin's, that's the grace we are saved by. He loved us when we were still sinners. Because we are saved by grace, does this mean we don't have to obey God? It's like being saved by grace is some kind of doctrine. I know that the covenant of the Rainbow is still in effect today. Is it possible that the Ten Commandments are a covenant seperate from the law and still in effect today? Thank for your help. |
