Bible Question: Why were Adam and Eve unable to resist temptation? After all, God had the power to make them perfect. |
Bible Answer: I believe we are into the question of free will. God did not put humans on the earth to be robots, but looked for the obedience of their hearts to him. Adam was not deceived (1 Tim.2:14, he willingly disobeyed God. Eve fell into the age old trap of Satan "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her: and he did eat. Adam and Eve made a conscious decision to break God's command thinking that they would be made wise. "when lust hath conceived it bringth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death" James 1:15 The Lord Jesus defeated the temptations of satan by quoting the word of God. Adam and Eve had a word from God, but ignored it and were drawn away by the lust of the eye and the pride of life. Robert |
