Bible Question: I don't mean independent in the sense you seem to be using. I mean up until now God has given Adam precise instructions on what to do. And now that Adam has this accumulation of what he should and shouldn't do, he is reliant on that knowledge of God's Word to make decisions of what to do instead of relying on minute by minute commands to know what to do next...maybe more of an internal compass by which to guide himself. Is that making more sense what I mean? |
Bible Answer: Yes, that makes a bit more sense. However, I'd still posit that human beings were never meant to be anything but followers of the Lord. It seems clear that God intends His people to walk moment-by-moment in His presence and under His guidance. We understand this from the clear teachings of the New Testament. Those teachings bring light to God's intentions for human life. (See the example of our Lord in John 5:19, 30, 38; 8:28; 12:49-50) |
