Bible Question: Hello, I am the new kid in the Forum and I am loving it already. My question: If Adam did'nt have Knowledge of good and evil before he ate of the tree of the knowledge.... why did humanity fail. I have an idea, but I like to know someone elses one. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: Hello- We were given free will, the same free will we have now. Personally I struggle over this issue - God, knowing all, and knowing we would disobey, still gave us free will - why? I read a little story once that had an angel asking the same question to God. God says "without free will, they wouldn't have the CHOICE to love me". That answered it enough for me I guess. To help with your question, here's this: Gen. 3:6. "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. 7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons." They suddenly had shame, and felt guilty for they're nakedness. It doesn't say what else went on in their mind, but I'd imagine they also began to feel the lusts of the flesh we suffer from now. Possible anyway. When you read Gen. 3:6 it seems to me that they didn't realize they were doing wrong. The fruit looked good, and if it made you wise that seemed good. Look at this too: Romans 3:20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin." If you are told to not think of a pink elephant, what do you think of? If you tell yourself "I will not sin" what do you think of? Difference kinds of sins to avoid, right? Just knowing what is sin causes us to sin, the very thought. I hope this helps some. |
