Subject: Who is Melchizedek? |
Bible Note: Hi, Jlhetrick... Brother Brad gives a very good explanation. I don't think that I could add very much to it. The KJV says, "And it is yet far more evident: for that after the SIMILITUDE of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest" (Hebrews 7:15) When we use words like similitude we are comparing two things that are said to be "like" one another. No one would ever say, for example, "for that after the similitude of Jlhetrick there ariseth another Jlhetrick" when there is only one Jlhetrick in the universe. Consequently, I was arguing that the priest that arises is not the same person as the priest that already existed. That wouldn't make sense. So, in the text itself, we see that Melchisedec cannot have been Christ. Hopefully that's a bit more clear than my last post. :-) In Him, Doc PS Good post, brother Brad! |
