Subject: Who is Melchizedek? |
Bible Note: Kalos Let me say something here and I'm not trying to bust your chops just trying to show everyone that unless the Bible specifically answers our question we shouldn’t be so dogmatic not to even consider another point of view. Where scripture is silent instead of calling something wrong we should at least allow for the consideration of other views as long as they don’t violate true Biblical doctrine. In your reply you gave two references. Both are highly respected and both are to be considered. However they are both merely the opinions of the man that wrote them. You were right you didn’t offer your opinion but you did offer the opinion of the authors of these references. The Bible is silent on Melchizedek's lineage, more importantly it is silent on who Melchizedek wasn’t. We know very little about Melchizedek while I don’t personally think this was a reincarnate glimpse of Christ there is nothing that says it wasn’t. The only true answer to this question is, some think Melchizedek as a man who was used of God etc. However there are others that think Melchizedek was a pre-incarnate glimpse of Jesus however there is very little if any scriptural evidence to support that position. Perhaps if we would give room for other theories while showing the strengths of ours it would make this forum more conducive to learning and less to debate. Kalos please forgive me for using your post as my example but it just lent itself so perfectly. By using Kalos' post I in no way meant to demean or denigrate his post. Kalos posts are always of the highest quality and always contain outstanding substance. What I was trying to demonstrate is something we "ALL" are guilty of. Brother if I offended you please forgive me. EdB |
