Subject: Genesis 11:7 Who is "Us"? |
Bible Note: When I said linguistically spoken words are a very POOR way to communicate an idea in the first place you wrote, “And yet it is the way God ordained to preserve His revelation for His people” HOW DO YOU KNOW? Were you one of the teachers who were there? What if when HE spoke, you understood the words that he used, and what if when he gave you a mental picture you had to put those images into words yourself? Not to mention that GOD Himself did not write the Bible. It was written by more that 40 different authors (who were INSPIRED) by God. However, in your defense, there are specific instances in the Bible where Jesus is speaking and those spoken words would have been exactly what God wanted to convey because Jesus Was God in the Flesh. (see me analogy below) Earlier I wrote, "Anyway, when we communicate with Him, he understands us even without words because when he made us he installed a communications link -. Your soul..." and then YOU said, “According to the Bible, it is not our souls that are the "communications link." It is God Himself, the Holy Spirit:” I hear what you are saying but I will have to disagree with you. I am convinced that when we pray to God WE USE WORDS, BUT HE conveys His message back to us via our own soul or spirit. Sometimes He uses spoken words in the form of a voice in our mind, but it is my experience that typically He replies to us with a “gut feeling”. In my opinion, this gut feeling is your soul which is connected to Him. By the way, I appreciate you helping make my point with the very quotes that validated what I am trying to say… “…GROWNINGS TOO DEEP FOR WORDS; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is…” --Romans 8:26-27” AND “…combining spiritual THOUGHTS with spiritual words." --1 Corinthians 2:12-13 Here is the analogy that I mentioned earlier, Let’s pretend God “SPEAKS” to you. Let’s say He show’s you an object and talks to you about it. Now I would image that he may or may not use only “spoken words” HE may also use pictures or images, could He not? Ok if we are in agreement for a moment – now I would like for you to look at a piece of wood furniture there in your home. Notice the intricate detail of the grains in the wood, the color, texture, shape, etc. You obviously see and KNOW what you are looking at right? Now I would like for you to describe for me in spoken (or obviously ‘for this example’ written) words what you are looking at so that I too will see exactly what you are looking at, which will allow me to see the very same image as you see it… |
