NASB | Genesis 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 1:3 And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. |
Bible Question: What is the "light" referred to in Genesis 1:3? Verse 5 calls the light day. However, in 1:14-18 "lights" are implied to be the sun and the moon |
Bible Answer: Hi, pgs, I agree with the other posts concerning 'light'. God is the Light of man. The light in Genesis 1:3 is the glory of God signifying His presence (Jews call it the Shekinah glory). I believe it is the same light that will be seen in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1, 23). 2 Chronicles 5:14; Exodus 40:34 WalkingTalkingBible |
