Bible Note: To my knowledge we have no scriptural basis on which to formulate the belief that everything that happens is the will of God. We do have ample biblical evidence that God is sovereign, however. God has revealed Himself to mankind in His word, but He has not answered all the questions of which mankind is capable of asking, and He has asked questions of which mankind is incapable of answering. Centuries have come and gone, have been born and woven into the fabric of history, since God asked Job a great number of questions, none of which Job could answer. In spite of the advancement in knowledge since the time of Job, we are unable to answer God's questions still, and we are equally inept in being able to answer our own questions about the things that God has chosen not to reveal about Himself and His creation. But I hardly think that the Bible teaches the kind of fatalism that is alluded to in your comments. --Hank |
