Bible Note: Greetings cheri! It is typical of a fallen nature to seek to make God in our image. How easily we find it to reject God, His ways, His word, etc... in an effort to understand. What kills me is how pride stands in our way of just simply saying, I don't know, I don't understand it all, Lord what does it all mean??????? Surely if we stop for a bit and think, this must be better then rejecting what God says! I don't mean to put words in anyone's mouth and I'm not accusing anyone in particular. I'm merely pointing out what seems evident to me in mankind's sinful nature. Which by the way is another area the "gap theory" contradicts scripture. If we are to take scripture as the Holy Word of God, then absolutely nothing that contradicts it can be of God. Regardless of how well it's wrapped and presented, regardless if we can explain it or not, it would seem to me we make God out to be a liar if we chose to reject His word for that of fallen man. I'm no expert on the gap theory either but it doesn't take long to realize to make it stand we have to re-write scripture and that's enough for even a dumb one like me to spot. I did a little digging myself just to try and understand what this was all about. For anyone interested, here is a good article on the subject. It even gets into the translation and context of the scriptures which is what started this thread off in this direction in the first place. Go to http://www.creationmoments.com/ and do a search for Genesis Stands. Hopefully this will be helpful to anyone interested. God forgive us for what we make of it some times... direct our hearts towards you Lord! Steve |
