Subject: What if a christian dies in a sinful act |
Bible Note: servinGodalwayz: This observation is not intended to demean or ridicule you, but it is intended to invite you to base your notes and comment on Scripture. When someone begins his answer to a scriptural question with, "I would say that..." -- as you did -- what usually follows is one person's opinion. The salient question is, "What does the Bible say?" And what does the Bible say about salvation's source? Is man's salvation made possible by the shed blood of Christ on Golgotha's tree or by man's confession of sin? The biblical answer to these two questions will lead you to the biblical answer concerning the murdered pastor and his murderous wife. If this were a mystery tale, the red herrings in the story are two things. The first is that the pastor presumably met death without having had time to confess his adultery. The second is that the wife had time before she was hanged to confess her sin of murder and presumably did so. But neither in the case of the pastor nor his wife do we know for a certainty that either of them was truly a regenerate believer. We simply do not know whether they were ever born again. That alone is the key, and so the "red herrings" of confession or lack of confession have nothing to do with whether either of these two people will see the kingdom of God.
