Bible Question: A pastor was caught having a adultery. His wife killed him with a gun. She confessed her sins and asked for forgiveness and she was hanged for her wrongdoings. Is the pastor saved as he died without confessing for his sin? Is the pastor's wife saved since she confessed for her sin of murder? |
Bible Answer: If our salvation (from God's wrath against sin) depended upon our confession of sin, why would the Cross be necessary? Confession DOES NOT determine our forgivness!! We already HAVE forgiveness IN CHRIST (Eph 1:7). The believer's confession of sin (1 John 1:9), as recognized or revealed by the Spirit, is a painful yet joyous experience as he/she reflects on the forgiveness that we already possess and the love of God for us, just as we are, as demonstrated at the Cross! (How's that for having a burden lifted!) IF both were "believers", both would be saved from the penalty of sin because of the redemption of the blood of Christ, not on the basis of their confession(or lack thereof) of a specific sin! mommapbs |
