Bible Note: Thanks I understand clearly. I have just shown all of us and Marg that translations can be misleading without knowledge of language usage and translations from language to language. There are numerous translations of the Bible and anyone of them can give us a different meaning if we aren't careful in our studies. Which probably explains a lot of questions on this website. Take for instance the usage of Land and Earth in verse 5 of Chapter 2. Using Earth gives us the impression of all animals on the planet, while Land could imply that only particular animals on a certain square footage, i.e. farm. Also God created the earth and heavens in a span of two days. Yet it in verse 4 of Chapter 2 it says "in the DAY that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens." Now some folks would think hey I thought they were made in two days not one? But to add even further to the challange, 2 Peter 3:8 says that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Now some would say okay is that a parable or is it literal? So for us all it is important that we not only know what we believe but why we believe. Most believers do not have a strong command of language structure and so forth, which is why excellent resources like the Strong's Concordance and beleivers such as yourself Hank (as Iron Sharpens Iron)are necessary. Thanks for your imput. |
