Subject: Two Creation Stories? |
Bible Note: Hi wordoer, You write that "God (Elohiym) is plural (signifying the Godhead) in the creation account of Genesis 1." I agree that the Godhead is seen in the first chapter of Genesis. In fact we see the Spirit in the second verse and I see the Son in verse twenty-six, "Then (God) said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;..." I agree also that this "image" is a shadow of the things to come. As far as the Godhead is concerned and our belief in the Trinity, I find it of importance that the pronoun total for the first chapter of Genesis is divisible by three. Genesis 1:1, "IN THE BEGINNING God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of (God) was moving over the surface of the waters." John 1:1, "IN THE BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with (God),..." John 1:1, "...and the Word was God." Genesis 1:3, "Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good;..." May the light of His word be the light of men everywhere. From the heart, Ray |
