982 | Hebrews10:26-31 | Heb 10:26 | azurelaw | 212301
Dear crystal, In short, as I am running out of time. STUDY, MEDITATE what is the Gospel all about. What does it mean to you? What does Jesus' atonement mean to you? What does Jesus' propitiation of sin mean to you? Who is Jesus and what has he done for you? What is God's wrath and His judgement? What is the meaning of the cross?...OPEN YOUR BIBLE, STUDY, MEDITATE until you get the mirror of God to reflect who you exactly are...then after that, read and re-read John 3:16-18, Roman 5:6-11...to undestand His love and grace. Do it prayerfully until you are truly convicted of your sin by the power of the Holy Spirit that you kneel to the ground helplessly, crying out to God in trembling voice for His mercy and forgiveness. May the Holy Spirity worketh in your heart. Shalom Azure |

984 | what's your preference | Heb 12:6 | azurelaw | 202735
Dear gospel--, Welcome to the forum. You say: The problem, of course, is that not all of His children acknowledge Him. But, that doesn't stop them from being His children - His creation. ... He is still our Father - whether we acknowledge Him or not. Please read Roman chapter 8, especially v14-17. God is only the Father of the believers, the elect. However, He is the Creator of all, the One God of all as you have said. If I have misunderstood you, kindly advise. Shalom Azure |

985 | what's your preference | Heb 12:6 | azurelaw | 202736
Dear Brother Steve, Thank you for the fine answer. I think so, too. The 2 examples are what I have had in mind as well. I believe it is the ultimate pain of Jesus (Mark 15:34) to experience the "absence" from His Father. Shalom Azure |

986 | what's your preference | Heb 12:6 | azurelaw | 202737
Dear gospel--, Thank you very much for your thought. You might have noticed I used the quotation marks for the word absence since I lack the suitable word to address my question poperly. My intent of the question was not on the discussion about God's attribution, rather is more on the experiential aspect of a believer in his/her earthly life and spiritual walk. I believe Brother Steve (searcher) understood my question well. Once again, welcome to the forum and hope you stay around that we may learn together :-) Shalom Azure |

991 | married | Heb 13:4 | azurelaw | 206715
Hi Cody, A belated welcome to you! After I followed the thread, let me try to re-organize the possible elements pertaining to the original question asked. 1/ Married, but not live together 2/ Married and live together 3/ Not married but live together I believe Brad's reply meant in support of pt. 2 just like what your have said in your post (206646)"It is perfectly fine for a man to marry a woman and the two live together." Therefore, I don't quite get what you mean or what is your stand when you say "This verse doesnt say they cant live together" in your post 206635. Shalom Azure |

992 | lest by any means they exalt themselves | James 1:2 | azurelaw | 212939
Dear Brother John, Thank you so much for the quote. I don't remember since when I started meditating the Gospel (Christ and His Cross) daily. Every time I do the meditation, I am in awe and can never be untouched by its power - the power that changes a believer's heart continuously, the power that makes the commandments meaningful to me (over-ruling the legalistic and moralistic proponents on the pulpit), the power that draws my focus on Christ that I am completely insignificant. I have received the below beautiful quote recently and would like to share it with you. "Keep your heart, O believer, much beneath the cross, your conscience in frequent and close contact with the blood, and the slightest touch of sin will make you restless and unhappy until you have confessed, and God has forgiven. This is the secret -- which, alas! few see, or care to know -- of preserving the garments white amid pollution, the mind serene amid turmoil, the heart happy amid sorrow, the life radiant and transparent as the sun, and the spirit, temper, and carriage Christ-loving, and Christ-like. Oh the wonders of the precious blood of Christ! Who can exalt it too highly, adore it too profoundly, love, magnify, and honor it too deeply and exclusively? Will it not constitute the theme of our study, the burden of our song, and the source of our bliss as ages roll on, and never cease to roll? Beloved, the surprise then will be, that here below we should have prized it so little, traveled to it so infrequently, and glorified it so imperfectly, and have regarded it with an affection so fickle and so cold!" --Octavius Winslow Psalm 25:5 Shalom Azure |

993 | How will I hear God's answer? | James 1:5 | azurelaw | 179691
You say: ......Most often it's in a still, small voice..... Why? Dear Joanna, you are not the only one I heard of such saying. Is it really always the way God speaks to us? Why in small voice? I would be glad to see your quote of more relevant scriptures. I don't think God often chooses to speak to us in small voice but with shouts and cries instead (see Proverb 1:20 to 21). Thanks for your help. Azure |

994 | How will I hear God's answer? | James 1:5 | azurelaw | 179730
Dear Brother Doc, Thank you. I have never had experiences of hearing a small/soft voice from God. Most of the time, He either stays silent or reveals to me CLEARLY through the Scriptures. Quite contrary that I have experienced tempting soft voice from my inner self on my own desire. I can understand that people think that God speaks in soft voice due to their projection of God as a kind and loving father (yes, He is indeed), and when we (His children) suffer, He will comfort us with tender and soft words. But is it really the way? I would render the thought that instead of His speaking to us softly to comfort us, He gave His son and His Word to us for healing, guiding and comforting. I also think of another example : Job, how he had experienced his great trauma. He was in desperate need of comfort and answer from God. Did God talk to him in soft and small voice? No. (Job 38:1, Job 40:6). What about God's calling on Samuel when he was sleeping? Could the voice be loud enough to wake him? Shalom Azure :) |

996 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | azurelaw | 213323
Dear lissamz, "Feelings come, and feelings go, but feelings are deceiving, I trust alone in the Word of God, nothing else is worth believing." --Martin Luther I truly wish you be blessed with the Holy Word abundantly. I mean no disrespect, when I carefully read the lyrics of most contemparory so-call worshipper song, I always find them either lacking the support from scripture or sugar-coated with false concept. Since the melody easily gets into and stays on our mind together with the lyrics, we have to be very careful about the message and the hidden idea. For the one you cited, not only that it streses so much on one's feeling, I also have problem with the last 2 lines for it looks like putting our Lord and Saviour to the lowest priority :-( Matt 16:24 Stay around and let us grow together :-) Shalom Azure |

Dear Pedro, Thank you very much for your reply. Sorry that I did not make myself clear. Could you please elaborate more with biblical reference as to the below statement you made earlier in your post? ...if anyone makes you feel like the way you are feeling maybe it's time to find a new church home where they treat you better. Thanks again for sharing. Shalom Azure |

999 | AMm I UnTeachable? | James 1:19 | azurelaw | 196350
Dear Pedro, I agree with you that if the church does not teach sound biblical doctrine, we should leave without turning back. Thank you again for the explanation and the scriptures quoted. Before I would forget, welcome to the forum. Which country are you from? It would be good to let us know you better if you could fill in your user profile as I did. Hope you enjoy the forum and share with us. Shalom Azure |
