821 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112281
I'm hoping that this won't jeopardize your relationship with God, assuming you've followed His plan of salvation and are a christian but I must admit the scripture you're citing from Colossians doesn't negate all the ones that clearly teach the oneness of the Godhead. Would you care to elaborate on this unusual belief with more scriptures or maybe even common sense? However, please be logical and God bless. |

Thanks...that was most interesting and enlightening. You're quite the student in trivia.
823 | What is the meaning of logike latreia? | Rom 12:1 | Rowdy | 112260
Sounds like Latin or possibly Greek. Where in the world did you get these words? Which words within the verse does it apply? Maybe we can figure it from the context. Please advise. God bless.
824 | Why was David an important king? | 1 Samuel | Rowdy | 112258
To the Jews of Jesus' time, David was an important figure in their history because of the numerous and wonderful victories he accomplished for the Israelite nation, with the help of God. Apparently, he was also a pretty good judge of character and made good decisions, while ruling the country in general. But the most important reason he was an important figure in our Bibles is the nature of his relationship he shared with God Almighty. He was about as good as men got before Christ on earth. He also shared an incredibly close relationship with God, at least through most of his life. Even after adultery with another man's wife, killing that man and covering up the sin as far as his fellow man was concerned, he was humbled enough to truly repent and be counted as the one man "after God's own heart." (Acts 13:21-22) That's quite a high standard for us as humans to attain and quite a compliment from our Lord. Do you have additional ideas/reasons as to the importance of King David? God bless. |

825 | Ressurection today?? | 1 Thess 4:16 | Rowdy | 112257
Paul was very clear on this subject. He put tremendous emphasis on this point in his letter to the Corinthians: 1 Cor 15:12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. 20But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. 29Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31I die every day--I mean that, brothers--just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." 33Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." 34Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame. If resurrection of the dead is not possible then we are all in a pitiful condition and without hope. I don't know about you but as "for me and my house," I'm counting on it. God bless. |

826 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112256
Brodacious is borrowed from my good friend in the comics, Snuffy Smith. I'm sure you're too young to remember. As I mention before, still looking forward to knowing more about your background. How did you come to such an interesting position on this Trinity issue. I agree with you. The word "Trinity" is NOT in the Bible but the concept clearly is, in many different places. But again I have an idea you've already seen these passages. Still...God bless. I hope to see you in Heaven.
827 | scriptures for wholehearted service | Gen 3:3 | Rowdy | 112255
I think our Lord sums it pretty well as follows: Matt 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." I might mention this account is reiterated in Mark 12 and again in Luke 10. It seems our Lord's words are very clear; I can't think of too much more to say. Do you have a response to them? God bless. |

828 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112243
Sorry, I just gotta ask: Are you hiding something? You say some brodacious stuff on the Forum and then give us only the tidbit of information. Tsk.Tsk
829 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112241
I don't know how to respond to your statement other than quote scripture which apparently you know already. So I'll watch for a few days and see what others post to the Forum. I'm going to try to be a little more low profile and see what develops. I'll pray for you and God bless. PS: I must say this: God is the same now, as He's always been and always will be. In my opinion that applies to ALL the Godhead. I think there are a multitude of scriptures in His Word, making this very clear. I agree with you, it's not clear exactly HOW this is true but I just know it is. We don't find out that good stuff till we get on the other side of Judgment Day. |

830 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112232
Mr. FinalSQL, I noticed you've posted 63 items onto this Forum and still haven't given us your profile. Now with this most unusual position about the Trinity, don't you think it would be a good time to reveal your background to us? Looking forward to knowing you a little better, God bless you in your participation on the Forum.
831 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112231
Then, how do you explained what happened in the following: Luke 3:21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." This story is reiterated in Mark 1. How can you possibly paint this story any other way different from 3 different beings interacting at the same time? This I gotta see. God bless. |

832 | was abraham ever a gentile? | Genesis | Rowdy | 112229
He was never an Israelite or a Jew in the national sense. Notice Israel as a nation was named after the father of the original 12 tribes, named after the sons of Jacob, later re-named Israel. God's family of Jews didn't become a nation until after deliverance from Egyptian salvery. So no, Abraham was not a gentile or a Jew either one. He pre-dated the whole business of discrimination between those two distinctive "races." Just like Melchizedek pre-dated Jesus ministry on earth. Pretty cool how that works out that way, huh? God bless. |

833 | Genesis endangerments of the matriarch? | Genesis | Rowdy | 112228
I noticed the questions from Kalos and Prayon and I noticed your response. I too am very curious and am looking forward to hearing more about this subject. Sometimes, this Forum reminds me of Paul's teaching and exchanging views in the marketplace, Acts 17 but I'm still very much interested. God bless. |

834 | Is Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | Rowdy | 112224
Can you give us a little more information as to why you DO NOT believe in God and the Holy Spirit in spite of the many verses in the Bible that show all three? I would refer you to a really good website for this topic and several others, apologeticspress.com. One really good series of lessons is entitled "Evidences for Christianity." I challenge you to check it out and let me know what you think. God bless. |

835 | The Exodus's importance to Hebrews? | Exodus | Rowdy | 112223
I appreciate the support. I too enjoy the high calibre of most of the posts on this Forum. It motivates me to study God's Word more intently but I also see a lot of growth on the part others. I just glad to be part of the family.
836 | tortoise, How does Rom 8:1 relate to OT | Rom 8:1 | Rowdy | 112222
I can see that you've put some study into this topic but I'm afraid I still stand firmly committed to the truth plainly revealed by Peter and John. I'm not exactly certain how you derive your conclusion from the scriptures above...it seems a little convoluted. But I think a passage from James 2 is much more clear as follows: 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your[4] works, and I will show you my faith by my[5] works. 19You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[6] 21Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."[7] And he was called the friend of God. 24You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Please don't draw the wrong conclusion...I AM NOT saying we can work or earn our way to Heaven. Quite the opposite, but our Lord will be looking for proof that we really are in His family and not just saying "Lord, Lord." We all know from Jesus' own words that alone won't get you anywhere but if we truly love God and His Son, we MUST obey Him and we MUST SHOW that obedience. So you see, the overall net result of the words from Christ, Peter, James and John is that we MUST become part of God's family. We MUST live a faithful life of a christian, repenting of our sins at least daily and we MUST act like we're following Christ's example AND the examples of His official representatives, as described in God's Word. God bless. |

837 | Where does it say "MUST be baptised" | John 3:5 | Rowdy | 112147
Since it's been a full week since I issued the challenge as cited above, I thought I would balance the scale a little more in contrast to the big question about "must be baptized." I remembered this little tidbit of a good questtion from a previous discussion of this topic long before I my membership on this Forum. Here is the question: Where in the Bible is there any semblance of an example or any verse whatsoever that suggests salvation is available from our Father after a show of faith ONLY? Notice the word ONLY. That means to the exclusion of any other act of obedience or anything else at all. And believe me, I don't mean to ask this question in a mean-spirited manner. I just want to do everythiing in my power to help you all see God's Word clearly. Remember if we love Jesus, we must obey ALL His words as they will be the standard by which we're judged. God bless you all. PS: I almost forgot. I can't hardly believe I did this but I left out an important step of God's plan of salvation and that was: Confession of Jesus as being the Son of God. This step should have appeared between repentance and baptism. I apologize for the oversight. Hopefully, you all may have noticed it. |

838 | why lead us to stumble? | Gen 3:3 | Rowdy | 112141
I'm afraid I have to agree with you. That's the trouble. I'm terribly fearful that my boys and their children won't be able to live in the wonderful christian nation that our fore fathers did. Yes, it would be wonderful to think that maybe America might turn back from the awfully sinful path we have recently begun, like that of Ninevah but I do think it would take a very powerful "significant emotional event" and that will probably costs us a very high price in lives and a rather humbled life for those who survive. God bless you my friend. I do enjoy reading your posts and consider you a very learned Bible student. |

839 | The Exodus's importance to Hebrews? | Exodus | Rowdy | 112138
In many, many different ways, the OT provides numerous examples as "foreshadows" of the Lord's church. With this example, the Lord is casting Moses as a foreshadow of His Son. Jesus rescues us, God's children from sin just as Moses did for the Israelite nation. Moses had his trials and weaknesses but he is considered a mighty tower of faith to most, just like our Lord and Savior. Jesus performed miracles and was completely consumed with compassion, much like his predecessor in Moses. Moses even tangled with God and literally saved the Israelite nation from God's wrath with his "negotiations." In the same way, Jesus negotiates a plan of redemption with the devil, taking our place on the cross for our sins so we don't have to. Yes, there's many other wonderful examples or foreshadows from which we can learn from God's Old Testament. Excellent question and God bless. |

840 | tortoise, How does Rom 8:1 relate to OT | Rom 8:1 | Rowdy | 112137
I am actually glad to see this kind of dialouge show up on the Forum as it's an excellent example of the point I've tried to make with previous posts. Let's start with your verse as stated above from Paul in Rom 8:1. Of course, there's no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus but that's the actual crux of the matter. Can a christian (as I assume you are) actually keep on willfully continue in sin without real, genuine repentance? I'm afraid the net sum of the Bible clearly teaches that this can't be so. Peter puts it rather bluntly in 2 Pet 2:22 and depicts a christian doing this like "a dog returning to its vomit or a pig to its mud." Yes, disgusting, I agreee but that's how our Lord and Father sees us if we continue in this kind of activity. John makes it a little clearer in 1 John 1:5-10. If a person continues in this kind of willful disobedience to our Father and doesn't really plan to sincerely stop; if he makes an attempt to "repent" merely for other men's sake, it's no good to our Father. That person is still in his sins. Surely you must agree, this is really quite clear in John's epistle. Please let me say this to the whole Forum. These basic principles apply to ALL sin in our lives. Again, let me be clear, these principles apply to all christians. Once you're in the body of Christ, you CAN most certainly choose to go back to a life of sin and maybe even fool your best friends and brethren in the church. But if your life is a lie; if you're not truly repenting every day of the sins in your life and trying to genuinely live a Christ-like life every moment of your life, you need to re-evaluate and take another look at your priorities. I do hope this is clear to all who read but I would love to see some responses from anyone else on this subject. God bless you all. |
