81 | Is Lamec a descendant of Seth or Cain? | Genesis | Ric | 122
GE 4:24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." GE 4:25 Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." 26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD. (NIV) ................... It look's like reading this passage that Lamech was born before Seth, so maybe Lamech is a descendant of Cain. |

85 | Satan can't read minds | Jeremiah | Ric | 116
I don't know if Satan can read minds or not, but I know he will try to tempt you with all of his might. Just remember that God won't allow Satan to tempt you with something you can't handle. ................. 1CO 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. (NAS) |

86 | how much water allowed the ark to float? | Gen 1:1 | Ric | 114
Genesis 7:17-24.......... Here Genesis tells us that the water prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered. That means that the waters rose more than twenty feet over the mountains. And it took over 150 days for the water to recede. ....... That's a lot of H2O! |

87 | What does the word | Col 1:16 | Ric | 112
"All things... visible and invisible" - The "invisible" probably is a reference to "powers," "rulers," and "authorities."
88 | Explanation of Ezekiel's prophesy? | Ezekiel | Ric | 110
Can you give a Scripture reference please?
89 | Who is God referring to? | Gen 1:26 | Ric | 109
Genesis 5:1 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man. " (NIV) ................... Reading this verse rules out the idea that man has been created in the image of God and his heavenly court of angels. It does show us that man is created from the image of God alone, so there we have a plural reference of God being two or even three persons. I believe this is one of many supporting arguements for the Trinity of God. |

90 | Interpretation of Bible teachings | James 5:14 | Ric | 108
Prayer is the more significant of the two ministries performed by the elders, for the overall emphasis of the paragraph belongs on prayer. There are a number of reasons for understanding the application of oil as medicinal rather than sacramental. The word "anoint" is not the usual word for sacramental or ritualistic anointing. Three different Greek words are translated "anoint" in the NT. Each expresses the same basic idea of rubbing or spreading oil, perfume, or ointment. It is a well-documented fact that oil was one of the most common medicines of biblical times (ISA 1:6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness-- only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with oil.; LK 10:34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. [NIV]). |

91 | to clarify my question... | James 2:14 | Ric | 107
For your question: ""can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end". ................. The answer would be that "works establish the proof of one's faith" and for the number 2 "works done with a intention to gain God's justification" will never, never happen...... Is 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. (NAS) |

92 | son of the gods | Dan 3:25 | Ric | 106
Daniel 3:25 He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!" (NAS) ..................... Yes, Nebuchadnezzar did say that the forth person looked like the "son of the gods", but does the refferance of "gods" mean "God"? |

93 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | Ric | 99
COL 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. (NIV) .................... This passage shows baptism as symbolizing the believer's participation in the burial and resurrection of Christ.
94 | Reconcilitation between Paul and James | James 2:14 | Ric | 97
Careful study reveals that there is no disagreement between a Pauline statement like Eph 2:8-10 and the declaration of Jas 2:24. You need to read the passage as a whole (James 2:14-26), it divides itself into three sections: the proposition James 2:16-17; the argument James 2:18-25; and the concluding statement James 2:26. In short, real faith will bring out works proving our salvation, but one can not work for their salvation.
95 | Why did Herodias want John the Baptist b | Matt 14:3 | Ric | 92
Because John the Baptist had denounced Herod's adulterous union with Herodias, his brother Philip's wife and his own niece. Law prohibited marriage to one's brother's wife while the brother was still alive. ......................... Luke 3:19 But when Herod the tetrarch was reproved by him on account of Herodias, his brother's wife, and on account of all the wicked things which Herod had done, 20 he added this also to them all, that he locked John up in prison. (NAS) |

97 | SECOND CHANCE | Rev 7:1 | Ric | 90
Revelation 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind should blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads." 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: 5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, 6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, 7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand, 8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed. (NAS) These 144,000 "Triblation Saints" are still on Earth after the rapture. They have the seal fo God so they won't be harmed. |
