41 | Why was Abraham called the friend of God | James 2:23 | Ric | 1878
This is another way of saying that he was right with God. He acted as a friend of God should act and thus showed that he was in reality God's friend.
42 | Is this dancing for joy? | Ps 149:1 | Ric | 1819
No problem. I grew up in the Southern Baptist church and they frown on dancing. That is so sad, because that is pure human legalism. God frowns on legalism. We can dance for joy, with one's spouce, or to honor God any time we like. Go dance and have fun. Note, please dance in a good "clean" way to not offend anyone or not to offend God. And have some fun too! In God's Grace, Ric |

43 | Is this dancing for joy? | Ps 149:1 | Ric | 1795
PS 149:1 Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. PS 149:2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. PS 149:3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. PS 149:4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. PS 149:5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. (NIV) Yes, this is dancing for joy! This was stated in the NIV Bible Commentary: The resultant expression on the part of the godly can only be joy. They are portrayed as "dancing." The people of God regularly celebrated the Lord's victory and blessing in dance (cf. Ex 15:20; Jdg 11:34). Also at home "on their beds," they rejoice in the glory bestowed on them by the Lord. |

44 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 1627
Hi Bill, I was saying that my studies are on a seminary level, I'm not attending any seminary right now. I have been in a self study for over four or five years now. I have gone to seminary book stores and other places like that (Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida for one). I buy books that are recomended by pastors and seminary teachers and study, study, study. I still am a long way away from being even close to most seminary grads, but I am studying on their level. That's all I ment on studying on the seminary level, sorry if I mis-led you. God Bless! In God's Grace, Ric |

45 | Huh? | Revelation | Ric | 1625
The way I see it is that God want's us to fill our minds with His Word, so the more questions we have, the more we will ask, and the more we will find! God Bless! |
||||||
46 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 1548
The more questions the better, thats the way I see it! Luke 11:9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (NIV) |

47 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 1547
I agree that the "Scofield Reference Bible" is a great source to help one study complex books of the Bible! My studies are on a seminary level, so I have a good knowledge of the Bible (of course I still have a loooong way to go!). Funny you said "To get a good grasp on Revelation I would suggest a good grasp of the Book of Daniel", I am in a middle of a study of that book right now (also the book of James). God Bless! 48 | SECOND CHANCE | Rev 7:1 | Ric | 1332
It does refer to people still here on the Earth. And all through Scripture the word "saint" is given to all of God's people (i.e. Saved, Chosen, Born Again, etc...) God Bless. In God's Grace, Ric |

49 | I DO NOT KNOW | Bible general Archive 1 | Ric | 998
I assume this is the passage you are refering to? Mark 13:32 "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. (NAS) "That day" neither the angels of heaven nor Jesus himself knows the time. Only the Father knows that time. And Jesus, at his ascension, clearly said that it was not for the disciples "to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority" (Acts 1:7). Knowing the future would be a hindrance, not a help to faith. Our responsibility is to get busy and do his work without being concerned about date setting. Jesus' ignorance of the day or hour of his return must be understood in terms of the NT teaching concerning the Incarnation. Jesus purposely laid aside temporarily the exercise of his omniscience as part of what was involved in his becoming a human being. |

50 | I DO NOT KNOW | Bible general Archive 1 | Ric | 984
Can you please give us the passage where this question comes form?
51 | (again) Apostles mistaken? | Col 3:17 | Ric | 982
I assume you are talking about Acts 2:38, where it says: "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (NIV) This is talking about "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" and not "water baptism". I am not trying to to say that you are in this or that denomination, I just said that it sounds like the teaching of "Oneness Pentecostalism" by the question your asking. It is a good question to ask, for we need to know or try our best to know what God is telling us. I might not be the best one to explain what God is trying to tell us from His Word, I am only a laymen in our Lord's Church. Apologetics is a hobby of mine that I've been self teaching myself for the past four years now, and I will try my best to explain God's Word as He want's us to know it and not my will. In God's Grace, Ric |

52 | Apostles mistaken? | Col 3:17 | Ric | 967
What you are talking about sounds like an "Oneness Pentecostalism" way of water baptism. In a answer below titled "Remember, that (water) Bapt..." might be of some help. I can come back later with a better explanation if needed. In God's Grace, Ric |

53 | In Jesus' name...except baptism? | Col 3:17 | Ric | 966
Remember, that (water) Baptism is not needed for salvation, (water) Baptism is something we do (most of the time one of the first things we do) in obeying Jesus' command. A truely saved person in Christ will want to obey Jesus' commands, and we get (water) Baptized as one of our first acts of following Him as our Lord. It's symbolism, we get (water) baptized in the name of the Trinity because we are saved by the Trinity. I'm not going to talk about the method of water baptism, but we are salve by God like so - The Father whom gave us His Son and the Holy Spirit which is now in us. See, all three are part of our salvation, when we are baptized in the Trinity, it symbolizes the work of God.
54 | Who are the seven spirits... | Rev 1:4 | Ric | 934
I think that the "Holy Spirit" is the answer, I believe that's what you are trying to say, am I right?
55 | Who are the seven spirits... | Rev 1:4 | Ric | 932
Who are the seven spirits before God's throne in Revelation 1:4?
56 | In Jesus' name...except baptism? | Col 3:17 | Ric | 931
"In the name of the Lord Jesus" reflects the thought that to act in the name of a person is to act as his representative. Whereas those who become disciples are to be baptized "into" the name of the Trinity. I guess that's the simplest way I can state it, is that what you are looking for? |

57 | sins of father repaid by son? | Genesis | Ric | 879
Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. (NAS) "punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me" notice the words at the end of this read: "of those who hate me". The full formula includes the important qualifier "of those who hate me." |

58 | reincarnation in the bible? | John 9:3 | Ric | 878
John 9:2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?" 3 Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him. (NAS) Your answer is in the next verse. People who take Scripture out of context to try to support their dogma come a dozen to a dime. Please try to show the context of the passage to the people whom try to support their "beliefs" by using Scripture out of context. But it's sad to say that most of the time they won't listen to God's true Word. |

59 | can you know people you never met before | John 3:16 | Ric | 810
I believe it because we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, you know - one big family! And if we are one big family, we should know our brothers and sisters. Sorry that I can't think of any Scripture to back this up, but that's just what I think. God Bless! In God's Grace, Ric |
