61 | Rapture - Bodies or souls disappear? | Matt 24:27 | Ric | 637
Philippians 3:21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. (NIV) (Also read: 1 Corinthians 15:19-54) Yes, I believe that our bodies will dissappear from this Earth, but we will receive glorified bodies then too. |

62 | How best to translate Ps. 45:6? | Psalm | Ric | 565
Clearly the Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong again. I don't know if you know about their "Bible" the "New World Translation" or "NWT"? They (the Jehovah's Witnesses) change quite a few verses to suit their false teachings. Like in John 1:1 (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [NAS]), the NWT changes the text to read something like this; "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a God." ..... That verse the JW's translate into their "Bible" is changed so that it reads like Jesus is not God. (sigh) Well, it sounds like the verse you quoted sounds like another "mis-translation", and most likely is that way to support their false gospel. I don't know if this helps any, but I see you are on the right track! In God's Grace, Ric |

63 | WHERE DID MAGI'S COME FROM? | Bible general Archive 1 | Ric | 564
I had to look this one up, I never thought about that question before. Good question PYLE! ............................ MAGI (Gr. magoi). Originally a religious caste among the Persians. Their devotion to astrology, divination, and the interpretation of dreams led to an extension in the meaning of the word, and by the first century B.C. the terms "magi" and "Chaldean" were applied generally to fortune tellers and the exponents of esoteric religious cults throughout the Mediterranean world. Magus or "sorcerer" is the name given to Simon (Acts 8:9), Bar-Jesus (13:6), and Elymas (13:8). The "wise men from the East" (Matt 2) are often referred to as "the Magi." Nothing is known of their land of origin, but it is a likely theory that they came from Arabia Felix (Southern Arabia). Astrology was practiced there, and a tradition of Israelite messianic expectation may have survived in the region since the days of the Queen of Sheba. Early legend connects Southern Arabia with Solomon's Israel, but the legend of "the Three Kings" is late and medieval. (NIV Bible Dictionary) |

65 | Are the unevangelized people really lost | Rom 2:15 | Ric | 514
Yes, we need to fulfill the Great Commission at all costs! Because people have sinned, and even thou they have never heard of Jesus, they still have the law written on their hearts. Once the one goes against the law written on their heart, they have sinned (and we all do). Romans 2:12 For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law; and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; 13 for not the hearers of the Law are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. 14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. As for "first fruits rapture", where you have heard that from, please ask the one (if you can) what was ment by that and post it here, I'll try my best to find out. |

70 | What will this song make people fear? | Ps 40:3 | Ric | 183
Fear stated here is the awe and reverence felt in the presence of a higher authority. Only for god.
71 | Is this the first time John saw Jesus? | John 1:29 | Ric | 162
There's no Biblical account of this being the first time that John and Jesus met, but they were cousins (both of their mothers were sisters) and I think thay might have grown up with each other. Remember that John leaped in his mother's womb (Luke 1:41) when Mary met Elizabeth (Mary's sister), so being filled with the Holy Spirit John knew that the baby in Mary's womb was the Christ.
72 | Why "son of man"? | Dan 8:17 | Ric | 160
The phrase identifies Him with humanity (Heb 2:14-18) and with the heavenly Son of Man (Da 7:13-14).

74 | Good study guide for Revelation? | Revelation | Ric | 153
I just last year did a study on the book of Revelation, and I used a study guide called: "God's Word for the Biblically-Inept" which is a new series from Starburst Publishers. I found it very easy to use, but I think it left me asking more questions about the book of Revelation at the end of the study. I would recomend it for someone new to Bible study.
75 | Bible differences, Christian-Catholic | Bible general Archive 1 | Ric | 152
The Apocrypha are interspersed among the canonical books of the Old Testament in the LXX and Vulgate, but not found in the Hebrew Old Testament. The Jewish people, who produced the Old Testament from the inspiration of God, and Protestants do not consider the Apocrypha canonical. The Roman Catholic Church received the Apocrypha as deuterocanonical at the Council of Trent in 1546.
76 | Could someone explain these descendances | Genesis | Ric | 138
I looked this up in my Bible dictionary, I don't think it will help you much, but give it a read. .................. LAMECH (Heb. lemekh, meaning undetermined). 1. A son of Methushael (Gen 4:18-24) and a descendant of Cain, who had two wives, Adah and Zillah. His sons founded the nomadic life and the musical arts, and invented metalcrafts and instruments of war. Lamech's song (4:23-24) expresses every feature of Hebrew poetry (alliteration, parallelism, poetic diction, etc.). 2. The son of Methuselah (5:28-31). This man, a descendant of Seth, became the father of Noah. His faith is attested by the name he gave his son, Noah (meaning "rest"), and by the hope of "comfort" (5:29) that he anticipated in his son's life. ................... I'm just a layperson without much Bible study (just Bible study at home and at church), but I'll keep trying to answer posts here - it help's me understand God's Word better too!
77 | holy kiss | 1 Thess 5:26 | Ric | 137
The holy kiss (Rom 16:16; 1 Cor 16:20; 2 Cor 13:12; 1 Thess 5:26) was adopted as a formal greeting among believers. The holy kiss showed love and charity. I would not like to think of the opposite. .......... But, kisses were shown to be used in different ways in the Bible too, I'll list some of the negatives here: An act of worship toward heathen gods (1 Kings 19:18, 20; Job 31:27; Hos 13:2). To lure illicit love (Prov 7:13). Judas kissed Jesus to betray Him (Matt 26:48-49; Mark 14:44-45; Luke 22:47-48). ................... I hope this helps. |

78 | Daniel: Son of man? | Dan 8:17 | Ric | 136
In Hebrew, "son of man" means an individual man. The Lord used this phrase in addressing Daniel, and over 80 times in addressing Ezekiel.
79 | Is the abyss hell? | Luke 8:31 | Ric | 135
My Bible dictionary states: ABYSS (Gr. abyssos). In the NT it refers to the world of the dead (Rom 10:7) or the nether world, the prison of disobedient spirits (Luke 8:31; Rev 9:1-2, 11; 11:7; 17:8; 20:1-3). In classical Greek it meant the primeval deep; in later Judaism it included the interior depths of the earth and the prison of evil spirits. |

80 | What does this verse mean? | Matt 6:7 | Ric | 125
Prayer is central to a believer's life. But Jesus said we should avoid meaningless, repetitive prayers offered under the misconception that mere length will make prayers efficacious. Jesus labels all those who pray repetitiously like this as pagan! Jesus is not forbidding all long prayers or all repetition, only meaningless prayer. Jesus himself prayed at length (Lk 6:12), and also repeated himself in prayer (Mt 26:44), but it was not meaningless prayer.
