NASB | James 2:14 ¶ What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:14 ¶ What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient--genuine faith produces good works.] |
Bible Question: Sorry I messed up my question... my main questions are "can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end" Any one could kindly help? Thanks |
Bible Answer: For your question: ""can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end". ................. The answer would be that "works establish the proof of one's faith" and for the number 2 "works done with a intention to gain God's justification" will never, never happen...... Is 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
