83 | ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ABOLISHED ? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 235707
Greetings, I realize that you said specifically the “Ten Commandments”, which is what is considered to be codex number one of the Mosaic law of which there are three; codex 1, codex 2, codex 3. I would like to start with the verse that you alluded to Gal. 3:19. Galatians 3:19 (NKJV) 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. The portion of the verse, “till the Seed should come” actually answers the reason for the NO in my response. The word “till” in the English is translated from the Koine Greek word “ACHRE” and should be translated “UNTILL” being the preposition in the genitive case. Note translation in the Galatians 3:19 (NASB) 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. There is a duration of time involved abrogating codex one when the seed, which was promised, should come, i.e. the Messiah or the Christ. Jesus Christ is the end of the law for those that are in Him or born again believers, the children of God by faith in Christ. Romans 10:4 (NASB) 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Those that have put their total trust or faith alone in Jesus alone, for their eternal state, are actually under a higher law once they rely on the finished work that was completed on the cross by God’s Son. Romans 8:2-4 (NASB) 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. What Paul is telling us in Galatians is that the commandments point out to us that we a helpless, hopeless and condemned by the law. I like to illustrate our position under the law. Visualize a pole sticking out over Grand Canyon and hanging from the pole is a chain containing ten links, as it were. On the bottom link is a chair welded to the chain and you are sitting in the chair. The chain with its ten links represents the 10 commandments. God has said the following, Romans 3:23 (NASB) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, This is telling us that the chain just broke due to at least one link falling. How many links does one have to break before they are headed for the bottom of the canyon which is a mile down? (Just one) The only option left is to scream out GOD HELP ME PLEASE!!!! God has done exactly that in the person of His Son Jesus the appointed one. That is what the word Messiah or Christ means, appointed one. God appointed His Son to take your place in the chair and crash at the bottom and in doing so He, Christ gives you what He Has or deserves, everlasting life with the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB) 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. That’s why I said, Yes and No to the Ten Commandments. Have you come to the place yet where you know, without a shadow of doubt that you have everlasting life with God when you die? It’s a sure thing because Jesus paid the price and God the Father was satisfied with the work that He did on the cross. God promises us eternal life as a gift and He gives us that gift when we put all of our hope in what Jesus did for us, we can’t earn eternal life by doing anything. When we try to work or earn something we are given wages, look what God says about wages. Romans 6:23 (NASB) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There isn’t any other way to get to heaven but by Jesus Christ and faith in Him. John 14:6 (NASB) 6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Here is a set of promises that you can truly believe in. 1 John 5:10-13 (NASB) 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. I hope this clears up my answer to your question and that you have made a decision for Christ as I did many years ago, CDBJ |

86 | the word every mean allwith noexceptions | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 235667
Greetings, Your question,” Genesis 6:19 does the word every mean all members or classes with no exceptions?” The Hebrew language does not lend itself to specifics as does the Koine Greek with exact distinctions such as tense, case, mood, and voice. If you would take the time to exegete the word in question in the Septuagint you could likely come to an answer that would satisfy or detract from your point of reasoning. The Hebrew has only this to consider with out spending hours deciphering the word translated from, “HAYA”. (Vine’s) Usage Number: 1 Part Of Speech: Verb Strong's Number: H2421 Original Word:, haya Usage Notes: "to live." This verb, which has cognates in most other Semitic languages (except Akkadian), occurs 284 times in biblical Hebrew and in all periods. In the ground stem this verb connotes "having life": "And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years…" (Gen. 5:3). A similar meaning appears in Num. 14:38 and Josh. 9:21. The intensive form of haya means "to preserve alive": "…Two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee…" (Gen. 6:19). This word may also mean "to bring to life" or "to cause to live": "…I dwell… with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones" (Isa. 57:15). "To live" is more than physical existence. According to Deut. 8:3, "man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live." Moses said to Israel: "…Love the Lord thy God… that thou mayest live and multiply" (Deut. 30:16). Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words. Sorry to say this word doesn’t cover intricate aspects of any phylum. CDBJ |

87 | don"t know chapter! | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 235627
Greetings and welcome to the forum. I’m note quite sure if this is what you are looking for but you are a we bit off track thinking that one has a second chance after the die to respond to the gospel message. There is a verse that backs this up in the gospel of John. John 3:18 (NKJV) 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Your next question might be, but what if they haven’t heard of Jesus. The book of John tells us that this is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit. John 16:8-10 (NKJV) 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; John 3:36 (NKJV) 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." Now the verses that you might be referring to is found in the following. 1 Peter 3:18-20 (NKJV) 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. The spirits here are those referred to in Genesis called in the Hebrew the "Nephilim" (or "giants") which were half human and half angelic. This is explained in Jude. Jude 1:6-7 (NKJV) 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. These were the spirits that tried to stop the promise of God which was that He would send the seed of the woman who would be the Messiah. Messiah would crush Satan’s head and provide our so great salvation which was the gift from God to all those that would trust in the work He would do. Romans 6:23 (NKJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. I hope I haven’t confused you and that you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

88 | Do you go to heaven right when you die | NT general | CDBJ | 235570
Hi Jeep1 and I would like to welcome you to the forum. I believe the answer to your question lies within the text of the original language in the Koine Greek of the New Testament. This is where Paul explains exactly what you are asking. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV) 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. What Paul is expressing is that when our soul separates from our present body it will be escorted instantly to our new home with Christ. The words, to be present in the Koine Greek is the pronoun “PROS” and it is used in the accusative case which means actually, FACE TO FACE with the Lord. i.e. The first thing we will see is Jesus right there in front of us! Psalm 116:15 (NKJV) 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints. It’s like a big WELCOME home son. The sleep aspect “for the believer in Christ” is a reference to their body which they will receive a new one being glorious and like the one Jesus has, at His return. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NKJV) 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. The dead “IN” Christ is a reference to the believer’s old body which will be raised incorruptible, it died in corruption but will be raised in incorruption. The soul which was residing with Christ will be reunited with a perfect body. We have no idea exactly how we shall be but this we are promised. 1 John 3:2 (NKJV) 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. This action takes place on the earth, where the problem all started. Have a great day, CDBJ |

89 | why did paul speak about perfection? | Phil 3:1 | CDBJ | 235569
Greetings Charlie from another Charlie on the forum. The chapter and verse that you used as a reference makes answering your question a little hard to do and keep the basic question in context. Philippians 3:1 (NKJV) 1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. Could you give us the verse that uses the word “perfection” in it that was used by Paul? More info is needed, enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

90 | Languages spoken after the Flood. | Genesis | CDBJ | 235568
Greetings and welcome to the forum. This might help your understanding; It’s from, “Hard Sayings of the Bible”. Genesis 11:1-9. One Language Before Babel? Genesis 11:1-9 is the record of the departure from one language and common speech to a plurality of tongues in the human race. This event took place at the tower of Babel, where mortals had decided that they would "make a name for [them]selves [lest they be] scattered over the face of the whole earth" (Genesis 11:4). A recently discovered Sumerian tablet also tells for the first time from an extrabiblical perspective the story of a time when all languages were one on the earth. The problem therefore is this: why does Genesis 10:5, 20, 31 describe each of the descendants of Noah's three sons as having differing languages when this was not supposed to have happened until the next chapter? Isn't this a mistake (called by scholars an anachronism) on the part of the writer of Scripture, in that it is a misplacement in time and space? The Bible does not represent itself as always desiring to present its material in a strictly chronological sequence. Often it prefers to present it in a topical sequence. For example, the three temptations of Jesus in the Gospels are found in three different arrangements because the aim of the author was to present them so as to make the preaching and teaching point of theology that each had in mind. Likewise, the writer of Genesis jumps ahead of himself for the moment to describe what happened to the descendants of Noah's three sons, even though it outdistanced the story that he would resume in Genesis 11. This technique is typical of the writer of Genesis. There is another clue in the text itself that demonstrates that this is so. In Genesis 10:25 it mentions "one [who] was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided." Here is a clear allusion to the confusion of languages at the tower of Babel that will be described in the next chapter (Genesis 11: 8-9). Since Peleg in Hebrew means "to divide" or "to split," it is more than likely that he received his name in memory of this event. Hard Sayings of the Bible. Greetings, Scripture doesn’t tell us why there are walls in heaven and anything that would be suggested would be pure speculation on the part of the responder. Here is a question for you. If you were to die within the next few minutes and find yourself outside one of those gates and God were to ask you; “Why should I let you come into my heaven”, what would your response be? Greetings, You should learn the same lesson that Martin Luther learned “Feelings come and feelings go, And feelings are deceiving; My warrant is the Word of God Naught else is worth believing. Though all my heart should feel condemned For want of some sweet token, There is One greater than my heart Whose Word cannot be broken. I'll trust in God's unchanging Word Till soul and body sever, For, though all things shall pass away, HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!” Martin Luther There is a great booklet that you can send for and it’s free and covers the topic of tongues as it is discussed in the Bible. I hope you are open and able to profit from it as I have. http://www.rbthieme.org/Publications/tongues.html CDBJ |

94 | God the Son symbolized as light | John | CDBJ | 235104
This might be what you are looking for! John 1:7-10 (NKJV) 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." 96 | there were two of all people on ark | Gen 7:21 | CDBJ | 235005
Greetings again Escar, I think we should start over on a little different footing and see if we can’t iron out some of what we aren’t in agreement on. For starters we are close to the same age and I would like to know if you have had any past training or much experience in the old Hebrew or the Koine Greek of the original languages of the Bible, not to mention the Aramaic? There is a question that I always like to ask of those that I converse with to make sure we are both on the same page as it were. If I could please start with that then I will let you respond in kind? (Question) Let’s say for example, if you were to pass from this life today and stand before God, “which at our late age is getting rather close” and God were to ask you this pertinent question. He looks you right in the eye and says, with a booming voice! (WHY SHOULD I LET YOU COME INTO MY KINGDOM,) how would you respond or just what would say to Him; please be brief but give it some thought it only hypothetical? This is a question that not too many have pondered but I find it very helpful in understanding the theology of those that I communicate with. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s just what “you would say” or what you think you might say. The Bible does tell us though that man is appointed once to die and after that the judgment. Looking for your thoughtful response, CDBJ |

98 | where in John that god live as a human w | NT general | CDBJ | 234953
Greetings and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question is found in the very first chapter of John. John 1:1-12 (NASB) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, You might want to follow this with a portion of the book called Hebrews Hebrews 1:1-8 (NASB) 1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"? And again, "I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME"? 6 And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, "AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM." 7 And of the angels He says, "WHO MAKES HIS ANGELS WINDS, AND HIS MINISTERS A FLAME OF FIRE." 8 But of the Son He says, "YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM. God is one in essence but manifested in three distinct in personalities, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. |

99 | Mark's Gospel why passion narrative imp | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 233751
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Right from the get go in the gospel of Mark one would be at a great advantage just understanding what the word gospel means. The word gospel and how it ties with the passion of Christ is wrapped up in the original language of the New Testament. i.e. the Koine Greek. The word originally used was the word EUANGELION and the clearest meaning in the English is literally the (GOOD NEWS). The next question should be the good news about what, and that is that God has sent His Christ or actually His appointed one. Now we have to ask, the appointed one for what, and the answer is found back in the book of Isaiah chapter 53. Isaiah 53:1-12 (ASV) 1 Who hath believed our message? and to whom hath the arm of Jehovah been revealed? 2 For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? 9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. The key to what Jesus did as the appointed one is found in the 10th verse of the chapter. Isaiah 53:10 (ASV) 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand. It actually pleased God the Father to punish His own Son because the Son was paying the price that God demanded for (OUR SIN). Now that’s good news, Jesus has already paid the price so I can live forever in heaven with God and that price is imputed to everyone who will put their complete trust in what Jesus did for them and not trust in their own works, God gives eternal life as a GIFT, but it must come through faith in God’s Son! When we work for salvation it is like wages, we earn it but a gift is free. Romans 6:23 (ASV) 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. It’s strictly by believing in the FINISHED word of Christ that we can know we have eternal life as a gift. All those that put their hope in Jesus, God gives them the Son. Notice how the good news of Mark plays out in the following because of the passion of Christ. 1 John 5:10-13 (ASV) 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. 11 And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life. 13 These things have I written unto you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, even unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

100 | A devo topic that challenges you think | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 233500
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Here is a topic that will challenge your knowledge of Bible doctrine but might shatter some previous beliefs in the process if you take it serious. The topic of discussion is eschatology which takes basically four different avenues of deliberation. All four of these directions can’t be right yet the four “different” aspects are held by some of the most devoted individuals in the faith of the past several thousand years. Using all of the Scriptures that are dedicated to this topic try to come up with an answer where one of the four works in all cases within the realm of all the verses contained in God’s Word. The four basic versions are as follows, pertribulational, midtrib. posttrib, and prewrath. They can’t all be right! You better do a lot of praying and exercise the use of 1st Jn. 1:9 before each study cession. Yours in Christ, CDBJ |
