661 | Is reverence feasible? Always? . . . | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 65479
Greetings srchng! “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18 I'm wondering how "perfect love casts out fear" in the relationship between men and women today? Perhaps when we see one another from God's perspective, we can truly be obedient to His Word. As believers desiring to be obedient to God's Word, we must shift our emphasis from following the LAW to following the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the ONLY WAY that we can really be obedient to God’s command to love honor or respect anyone. Apart from Christ, is anyone worthy of RESPECT or HONOR? Apart from Christ, can we ever truly LOVE? (Please read John 15:5) "Rabbi" Mark wrote: It was easy to deceive the woman in the garden. And it is easy to deceive the woman today. But if she is obedient to her husband and her husband is obedient to God -- that woman shall not be found in another transgression. There is a significant qualifier in the word "IF". Does God's Word give us permission to not obey IF the other person is not “obedient to God”? Does God express His commands this way: obey Me IF . . .? Please read Gen 3:6. Exactly WHERE was Adam, who “Rabbi” Mark claims was made to be "physically, emotionally and logically (he used the word spiritually in his post to me) superior" to Eve? ADAM WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HER (!) and he did not (as the “Rabbi” claims) "keep her from transgression." The only One who can keep me from transgression is Jesus! Mommapbs |

662 | Is Christ a mystery? | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 65234
Greetings FTimA! The mystery of Christ has been revealed - Jesus is God's Perfect provision for the salvation of the whole world. Can you explain HOW this is possible? It's a mystery to me! In your profile you wrote,"How could this have come about by mere chance?". The "mystery of Christ" relies upon the same answer. (GOD alone) We know through God's Word that He saves man based upon faith alone (Eph. 2:8-10 et al)But can we explain HOW God saves? HOW means, what is the process that takes place in us that we degenerates become righteous, acceptable to God? When we do not understand HOW something "works," we often call it a mystery. The same can be applied to HOW God declares us righteous by the shed blood of Christ . . . can you explain HOW Christ's ressurection insures the same for us as believers? It's a mystery to me, yet knowing the One who keeps secrets (Dt 29:29)enables my heart to have confidence that He is faithful to do as He promises. Blessings on your day. Mommapbs |

663 | 2Kings 10 - I don't have a verse | 1 Kin 10:13 | Mommapbs | 62727
Greetings minnie! 1 Kings 10:1-13 records the visit of the Queen of Sheba. She came to ask Solomon questions, not to conceive a child! Perhaps you are thinking of the child born to Bathsheba and David. Solomon was their second son. There is no name given for their first child. See 2 Sam 11:27-12:23 Blessings, Mommapbs |

664 | Verse Proving Devils Cant Hear Thoughts? | Ps 94:11 | Mommapbs | 62684
Greetings! Do a little reasoning with me. According to Psalm 94:11, God knows our thoughts. In Mt 12:24-28 Jesus knew the thoughts of the Pharisees. No where else in Scripture do we find a recording of anyone knowing the thoughts of another except God! Hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs PS: God is Eternal; He is Alpha and Omega; He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient - Satan is none of these, he is just a created being! And his time is almost up! |

665 | Why Sheol / Hades mistranslated as Hell? | Acts 2:31 | Mommapbs | 62681
Greetings Massebah! This was an interesting study, thanks for asking the question! I haven't a clue how translations began to identify Sheol or Hades as hell. Perhaps the zeal for the souls of the readers played a role in the translator's rendering of the words. Hell is a very real place; it is the eternal destiny of those who have rejected Jesus Christ. Hell is the eternal absence of God. "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Mt 10:28 "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire," Mark 9:43 "Then death and Hades (the state of death or disembodied existence) were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire." Rev 20:14 AMP It is interesting to note that there are two terms used to identify the realm of departed spirits. In the NASB, Sheol is used exclusively in the Old Testment and the word Hades is used exclusively in the New Testament. As I was considering this, I concluded that this might be an example of progressive revelation. The Patriarchs of the Old Testament entrusted their souls to God. In the New Testament, Jesus explains how they (The Patriarchs) were cared for in the story of Lazarus and the rich man. According the the account in Luke 16, Hades, the realm of departed spirits, was divided into two distinct sections. One area was called torments and the other was called the Bosom of Abraham. Now, recall Christ's words to the repentant thief on the cross, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43) Obviously, when Jesus gave up His Spirit, He was not going to the "torments" side of Hades and since Jesus was going to be there, we would no longer refer to this place as the Bosom of Abraham - indeed with Jesus, it would be Paradise! The resurrection of Jesus Christ is our assurance that God keeps His promise. The promise of God, to not abandon His Holy one to Sheol (Ps. 16:10) reminds us that believers will not be left there either! Since Paul asserts that when we are absent from the body we are present with the Lord,(2 Cor 5:8)and Hades is to be thrown into the lake of fire, (Rev 20:14) doesn't it stand to reason that Hades, the realm of departed spirits, is populated by only those who have rejected God's salvation? Translations are only as accurate as the translator. But the believer has THE Translator to guide them into all truth (John 18:13). . .let's keep our spiritual ears and eyes open as we focus on His Word to us - Hades or Hell. Not a good place to be! Blessings, Mommapbs |

666 | Tell about Abraham's devotion to God. | Heb 11:8 | Mommapbs | 62674
Greetings Controling! With respect to your questions, Gen 21 is about dealing with the consequences of a LACK of devotion to God. Hagar and Ishmael were the result of Abram's LACK of faith that God would do as HE promised!(See Gen 17) Sadly, the world continues to reap the harvest of Abraham's disobedience today. I hope this helps. Blessings, Mommapbs |

669 | how is the flesh ignored more than devil | Gal 5:19 | Mommapbs | 62535
Greetings Warrior2 and welcome to the Forum! The scripture you cite gives the answer. The practices of the flesh are obvious - they are the responses that we make with our sinful nature; they are not glorifying to God. It is necessary that we learn how to avoid sin. Thankfully God's Word instructs us. We keep our lives pure before God by holding fast to His Word! Ps 119:9 Since the devil is such a sneaky adversary, it is important to be aware of the ways in which he attacks believers. Eph 6:11 instructs us to put on the whole armor of God so that we may be able to withstand his schemes. The world is often a means by which we turn away from God. All too often we seek to have our needs met there rather than from Him. The devil cleverly entices us from the world. This is where the he takes aim. We should heed the warnings about him in God's Word. "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8 See also Eph 4:22; 1 John 2:16, 2 Cor 2:9-11. Hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs |

670 | adultery vs stealing which is sin worst | Gen 1:1 | Mommapbs | 62532
Greetings foxxy! I applaud Sir Pent's post to you! Here is another perspective on your question. One could ask, "Which is best: Caucasians Blacks, Orientals, Native Americans, Jews, Gentiles, Catholics, Pentacostals, etc? ALL are people. We just attach words to describe them, but in God's eyes, they are just human beings; people who God dearly loves. They are ALL the SAME to Him. For God so loved the WORLD . . .(John 3:16) In the same way,sin is sin. There is no distinction in God's eyes; He hates it ALL! God's Word says: "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23 But thanks be to God that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8)Nothing we can do will make Him love us any more or any less than He does at this moment! I hope you have chosen to receive that love! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Greetings maydayjohn and welcome to the Forum. It is always wise to search for your answer before you post a question. In the "Get Bible Text" field, type in the reference. Check the N box associated with a specific verse. If is is GREEN, then you will find that others have already written notes on this reference. Often you will find that your question has already been addressed. Look at your verse (1 Sam 19:9) and the one I have referenced for a variety of answers. Blessings, Mommapbs |

672 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | Mommapbs | 61500
Dear prayon, I have read through the thread and wonder who we are focusing on, God's opinion or people's. Does God say that it is a sin to have expensive things? Does God call us to live a "simple life style?" Who will define "simple?" I can think of folks who have huge bank accounts but live very "simply!" God owns it all doesn't He? He also gives us everything - how about the priceless gift of Grace? Are we indeed not all rich who are in Christ? I suspect that God is more interested in our response to THIS wealth, what do you think? Are we good stewards of our inheritance in Christ? Frankly, people have a problem with people who are entrusted with worldly wealth. Usually THEY (the ones without)have a better idea of how and when it should be used. I believe God expects us to use what He has given, much or little, as HE directs, for His glory, not self adoration. Too often, people only see the outward expressions of material wealth and do not know what has been done in secret. We need to stop judging one another's spirituality by the balance in our checkbook. Just my thoughts. Blessings, Mommapbs |

673 | Why the eye? | Luke 11:34 | Mommapbs | 61349
Greetings Aspilos! This passage is not referencing our physical eyes but our ability to see and know the TRUE LIGHT. Consider the audience that Jesus was addressing as you re-read the account. Throughout God's Word, there are many references to Light and darkness. The Light of Life is Jesus.(See John 1:4, 8:12) Use the search feature to see more on light and darkness. As I read the entire passage in Luke, Jesus is the Lamp that all men will "see." Yet, how they respond to what they see will determine the condition of the heart. The "eye", as a lamp, reflects what it sees(the Light of Life) to our heart. Cross reference John 12:35-46. I believe Jesus is issuing a warning to unbelief in Luke and declares many woes to the Pharisees (who were "fair, you see"). These, teachers of the Law of God who should have recognized the Truth when they saw it, exchanged it for what they wanted to believe. We see in this account that they sought to test Jesus, demanding a "sign" thus challenging His authority. Suffice it to say, that we too must be careful to observe clearly and not hide the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (as devastating as it may be, it still brings Light to our souls!!)by denial or self deception. "How can the light in you be darkness?" See Eph 5:8-13, 1 John 2:11. I hope that God will minister to your heart as you consider the Truths of His Word. Blessings, Mommapbs |

674 | Receiving and accepting spiritual things | 1 Cor 2:14 | Mommapbs | 60946
Greetings Ray! Just wondering about this. As a believer, in our flesh we still must live with the "natural man". Now, If we choose to allow the natural man to reign, we cannot discern or understand the deep things of the Spirit of God which have been given to us. But when we are yeilded to the control of the Lord, allowing the indwelling Holy Spirit to be at work in our eartly bodies, then we will preceive spiritual things. I suspect that because there is a struggle within, we wrestle with one another on issues that are only Spiritually discerned. What do you think? Blessings of the peace of His presence on your day. 677 | Paul-Written proof of how he died? | 2 Tim 4:6 | Mommapbs | 60895
Greetings Sharon, apart from Paul's awareness that his time was short, Scripture does not shed any light Paul's death. We know from God's Word that Paul was eager to be with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8)but how he passed from life to Life is not recorded. Perhaps this is a hint from God that the means to our end (earthly death)is not as important as the means to our eternal Life (Jesus!) It is important know the difference between "tradition" and Truth! I think this verse sums it up: "The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?" declares the LORD. Jer 23:28 See also Ps. 119:160 Blessings, Mommapbs |

678 | What role does the church play . | Ephesians | Mommapbs | 60890
Greetings Qubbie! Check out Ephesians 4. You can also read some of the notes associated with individual verses (the N will be in green, meaning that others have written in on these!) All too often we, in the local church, tend to be more focused about "saving" when we should also be concerned with the "growing" aspect of faith. For as new believers grow in their faith, they too are able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. In this way, the seed is multiplied! Blessings, Mommapbs |

680 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Mommapbs | 60548
Greetings John Reformed! You have asked a simple but provocative question. It is one that requires some real contemplation and is quite beneficial. Thank you! Thought I'd add my two cents here. I'd like to suggest a challenging book by Gordon T. Smith entitled, "Beginning Well: Authentic Christian Conversion and Transformation." Smith states that, "Conversion is the human response to the saving work of God through Christ. . .Justification refers to the initial or foundational work of God . . . Sanctification spekas of our transformation. . . that comes purely by God's gracious work in our lives. We do not bring it about, it comes as we trut, by fatih, in what God and only God can do." The author makes other interesting observations when he asserts, "Something is profoundly flawed when justification does not lead to scantification, for this is the very purpose for which we were justified. . . Without justification as the foundation, scantification becomes nothing more than human effort and easily descends to legalism or works righteousness." To me, the important thing to keep in mind here is that salvation and transformation are God's work, not mine. God alone saves. Who can be saved? Anyone who chooses to respond to His offer of Grace. (Bear in mind that conversion and salvation are NOT the same!) Psalm 48:14 says that God will be our guide until death. He is before us, guiding us toward our heavenly home. I see it this way, ALL who choose (these are the converted) His (Salvation, God's offer of Grace) Way, to follow Him,(God transforms) will be welcomed into eternity (these are the saved). But, conversely, even though the Lord is always there, willing to guide us on the path everlasting, God's Word also cautions us, that there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof leads to death (Prov 16:25). Truly, this is most often a straight road paved with "good intentions!" I have no authority to decide who is saved and who is not. Nor do I have the ability to discern the work of God in the heart of another if I allow the picture that I have created to describe a "Christian" to be the counterweight of my judgment. It seems reasonable to me to be gracious (and patient!), as God is gracious(and patient!)with me, as I extend the love of God toward others in my relationship with them. In order to see the work of God in the life of another, I must be willing to let HIM reveal it to me, in His way and in His time. As seeds beging to grow, they all tend to look the same. If I discard the shoot before it matures based upon how I think a plant is supposed to look, I may deprive myself of a bountiful havest. By pretermining what a Christian is supposed to look like, instead of looking for God's description, I may hinder another's growth in their relationship with the Lord. May we all here at the Forum be willing to extend grace to one another as we endeavor to study God's Word and come to known Him personally. Blessings, Mommapbs |
