Maples...getting drunk and being a drunk to me are different. I only find Noah drunk one time. Gen 9:21. And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. Deut21:18. I have noticed that some bibles capitalize this angel and others don’t. My question would be if anyone else has studied this Angel of the Lord? He appears in the following verses just to name a few. Reading from the journal of Sam Watkins in a book called “Company Aytch” I came across the following entry. While he was attending a revival that was in Dalton, Georgia he noticed many soldiers coming to the services nightly. It was a custom to call up mourners and a long bench had been placed in proper position for them to kneel down at. Ten of them were kneeling down at this mourner’s bench, pouring out their souls in prayer to God, Asking Him for the forgiveness of their sins, and for the Salvation of their souls, for Jesus Christ their Redeemer’s sake. Page 107. Written in 1863. This mourner’s bench has been around for a very long time in Southern history. At the Church I attend often, they have these benches in the front of the Church building and many come there to mourn almost every time I go. Some refer to this as an alter or an alter call. After reading the threads on this topic I was in a little bewilderment at first as I had heard these benches called an alter. I have seen them since I started going to church and have even visited them a few times myself. I find that this is an excellent and wonderful place to come and pray and mourn and there are others that come to join with you and just let you know you’re not alone in your battles. I have also been to churches that don’t have this bench. The understanding there is that you can settle or pray right where you are (which you can) and its just between you and the Lord with no one else knowing. I thank God for both. God Bless |

This is all I could find on thummim and I have heard different views as to what would occur when the Urim and Thummim were used but I would only conclude that whatever it was exactly I know not. I know it helped the Priest in making deccisions from the Lord. I am sure some of the others here in the forum could probably help you more on this. Text: perfection (LXX., "truth;" Vulg., "veritas"), Ex.28:30; Deut.33:8; Judg.1:1;20:18; 1 Sam.14:3,18; 23:9; 2 Sam.21:1. What the "Urim and Thummim" were cannot be determined with any certainty. All we certainly know is that they were a certain divinely-given means by which God imparted, through the high priest, direction and counsel to Israel when these were needed. The method by which this was done can be only a matter of mere conjecture. They were apparently material objects, quite distinct from the breastplate, but something added to it after all the stones had been set in it, something in addition to the breastplate and its jewels. They may have been, as some suppose, two small images, like the teraphim (comp. Judg. 17:5; 18:14, 17, 20; Hos. 3:4), which were kept in the bag of the breastplate, by which, in some unknown way, the high priest could give forth his divinely imparted decision when consulted. Darcy I would say that we are still the most blessed country in the world. We have freedom to go to the House of God which Jesus called the house of prayer each and everytime the doors are opened. We lift up our Lord and Savior and pray for our country and its leaders. They feed my children at school a healthy lunch and teach them reading, writing, and arithmetic. I have a great job that the Lord gave me wich allows me to keep a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food on the table. I don't even have to walk to work for I also have a car. I have the right to bear arms and the right to freedom of speach without some dictator having me killed for it. The USA like the rest of the world is coming to a judgement day. The real question is...How will I stand on that day? KJV Ephesians 5:11-12 11. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12. in the world we live in lovejoy..... with all the ways we can turn....the LORD wants us to stay true to His ways....this takes strength and courage...stength to say no when everybodyelse is doing it(even though its wrong)confident to know that even though somethings may seem harmless to do ...that if God says not to do it there is some reason behind it...the enemy has a way of trying to get us off to the left or to the right(verse 7)and God knows that so HE wants us to be strong for Him...courage to stand up for whats right when others say its ok just do it...courage to let your friends know that something that they are doing is not right...its not easy to be a leader, following is simple...making choices for God that others will follow takes alot of strength and courage but the LORD says that when we do this that we will be both prosperous and have good success...May our Lord Jesus Christ give you all the strength and courage that you need to do His will in your life Lovejoy...God Bless | ||||||
