trulee6 I just want to share a few scriptures with you on the freedom or liberty we have as Christians. If you stand on the Holy Word of God you will find that we are free to worship where ever we feel the true teachings of Christ Jesus is being taught. If a friend of mine for example were to tell me I can't go to a certain church because I belong to this certain church when the Church is the body of Christ anyway, then it would be the same teachings that cults teach. That is how many cults teach so that their teachings stay without question. God's freedom allows us to go to different churches. I go to a Baptist church for example and visit a "Church of God" every once in a while and it bothers my pasture none at all for the true teaching is that we have freedom to serve God. Unless someone has something to hide from you about thier teachings then why wouldn't they mind you going to visit another church? It is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that saves, not a denomination. KJV 2 Corinthians 3:17 17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty KJV Galatians 5:1 1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. KJV Galatians 5:13 13. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. KJV 1 Peter 2:16 16. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Now we know that the Word of God is true and His Spirit dwells within us, and His Holy Spirit will lead us closer to Him. So I encourage you to not be tossed around in the different teaching but to see the Truth of God where ever you go to visit. God Bless |

64 | Do altars belong in christian churches? | Ex 17:15 | christian7 | 99480
Reading from the journal of Sam Watkins in a book called “Company Aytch” I came across the following entry. While he was attending a revival that was in Dalton, Georgia he noticed many soldiers coming to the services nightly. It was a custom to call up mourners and a long bench had been placed in proper position for them to kneel down at. Ten of them were kneeling down at this mourner’s bench, pouring out their souls in prayer to God, Asking Him for the forgiveness of their sins, and for the Salvation of their souls, for Jesus Christ their Redeemer’s sake. Page 107. Written in 1863. This mourner’s bench has been around for a very long time in Southern history. At the Church I attend often, they have these benches in the front of the Church building and many come there to mourn almost every time I go. Some refer to this as an alter or an alter call. After reading the threads on this topic I was in a little bewilderment at first as I had heard these benches called an alter. I have seen them since I started going to church and have even visited them a few times myself. I find that this is an excellent and wonderful place to come and pray and mourn and there are others that come to join with you and just let you know you’re not alone in your battles. I have also been to churches that don’t have this bench. The understanding there is that you can settle or pray right where you are (which you can) and its just between you and the Lord with no one else knowing. I thank God for both. God Bless |

Hank... Your time spent in Dalton,Ga is starting to shine through...:) Good advice my brother in Christ and as you have pointed out some would run amuck with faulty interpretation. I am just hoping to understand some simpler words in the scriptures, as Revelation and eschatology is still yet in my prayers...:) I venture to stay away for speculation and unclear interpretation as the water in which I swim in can become very dangerous very fast. I do thank you for your truth in the fact that some or most may not agree on a certain words and their meannings. These I pray the Lord will keep from me. thank you God Bless |

thank you Emmaus... I have found many of the related topics as you have so pointed out as typology in the scriptures. I have read that such things were as shadows of the things that were to come. The things that stump me are, and I use this for an example, moutains represent governments unless its a specific moutain at which point I can see where it can be both ways. I will look into your web site and check for this book. I just pray that if used in the proper way, this could be of a help to my ministry. thanks again God Bless |

oneness holy If I understand the question right...Abishai wanted to kill Saul and David would not let him. KJV 1 Samuel 26:8-10 8. Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time. 9. And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless? 10. David said furthermore, As the Lord liveth, the Lord shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish. God Bless |

I have studied more on this subject. It said that when there was a new teaching or something new being declared that the people would want to know by whose authority this teaching was. Therefore when the disciples were saying repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus that they were proclaiming by the authority of Jesus. Such being the case in every scripture I read like Acts 2:38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This has further helped my understanding of the sometimes confusing teaching of baptizing only by the name Jesus. God Bless |

oneness holy..... The people were rebeling against God. They seen how the other nations were and they were God's people set apart to be different. But wanted to be like the rest of the world. As you have stated, They were wrong. KJV 1 Samuel 8:7-8 7. And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. KJV Exodus 16:8 8. And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord. KJV 1 Samuel 8:22 22. And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city. God Bless |

richpick.....I pray these verses help you. Have you read the book of Job? Would you like to be forgiven for everything you have ever done wrong? We are saved from all our sins by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. No one understands all of what God has done but there is one thing we can understand and that is God loves us and has made a way for us to come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Here are some answers to your questions and welcome to Bible Study Forum. KJV Ezekiel 28: 13. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the Beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 18. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Isaiah 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. KJV Romans 9:20-21 20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21. Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? Job 38:2. Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3. Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Serving God is not an easy way it is a straight and narrow way. God didn't even spare His own Son Jesus from pain and suffering. How much more should we not endure for all He has done. God Bless |

77 | Jesus name of the Father, Son and H/Ghos | Bible general Archive 2 | christian7 | 96987
I think your understanding of the "Name" in Matthew 28:18-20, as referring to Jesus, is mistaken. Many of the early church understood this as clearly Trinitarian in nature. There is only one God, hence there is only one Name. But there are three distinct Persons in the eternal Godhead, hence the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Indeed, one of the clearest Scriptural illustrations of this point can be found in the account of Jesus' own baptism. In Matthew 3:16-17 we read, "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." All three Persons of the blessed Trinity were simultaneously present at Jesus' baptism. The Father spoke from heaven, the Holy Spirit descended from heaven to earth, and the Son was incarnate as Jesus in the Jordan river. Now lets look at the letter Paul wrote to the Corinthians. KJV 2 Corinthians 13:14 14. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. This scripture is virtually undisputed letter of the Apostle Paul dating to around A.D. 55: the Letter is Trinitarian in form and has ever since been a part of Christian worship tradition." Tho I dont doubt from my studies in Acts that some people were not baptized in Jesus' name for from what I can understand they were. But I also believe that according to scripture that this wasn't a disbelief in the Trinity and that there is no proof that in Jesus' name was the only way they were baptized. It is my belief that the early church also baptized in " The name of the Father, and the Son(Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. One thing is for sure cajam, when I first started studing this it took me on a longer study than I had expected and that when we see that God is leading us closer to Him its all worth while. As far as I can tell we can't forsake what the bible says and take it in part but as a whole it is very clear that there is a Trinity. So I find myself doing what is written in the later part of this note as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19 God Bless |

78 | the angels that sinned | 2 Pet 2:4 | christian7 | 96978
Truthfinder....the prophet Isaiah recognized Him. Just not by the name Jesus. Just as by the name Jesus he was not known unto us until His birth. As it was the same for the O.T. forefather and the name Jehovah. The name of God in the Old Testament spelled YHWH, was considered holy, and was not to be read aloud. Instead, when the Hebrews came upon YHWH, they would say ADONAY, which means "Lord." In order to indicate this substitution, the Massoretes placed the vowels of ADONAY or the English equivalent of e, o, and a underneath the consonants of YHWH. Later some Christian translators mistakenly combined the vowels of ADONAY with the consonants of YHWH producing the word "Jehovah." Now the term is recognized to be a late hybrid form never used by the Jews. That's the origin of the word "Jehovah." The Jewish Encyclopedia: "Jehovah" -- a mispronunciation of the Hebrew YHWH the name of God. This pronunciation is grammatically impossible. According to the Encyclopedia Judaica, p. 680, vol. 7, "the true pronunciation of the tetragrammaton YHWH was never lost. The name was pronounced Yahweh. It was regularly pronounced this way at least until 586 B.C., as is clear from the Lachish Letters written shortly before this date." The New Jewish Encyclopedia: It is clear that the word Jehovah is an artificial composite. Exodus 6:3. And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. KJV 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 1. Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2. And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3. And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4. And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. KJV Isaiah 6:1-5 1. In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. God Bless |
