41 | man's tradition | Bible general Archive 2 | christian7 | 102642
I really couldn't say it is a traditon of men and I will let you know why I say this. One evening a jailor after waking up out of his sleep noticed that all the doors in the jail were open, and he drew a sword out to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had fled. But an apostle name Paul cried with a loud voice for the jailor to do himself no harm, that no one had left. That jailor found a light and came to the apostle trembling and fell down before Paul and his friend Silas and asked them "what must I do to be saved". I read about it in the book of Acts, Chapter 16. So I see in the Bible that sometimes people do "come up to" a man of God. Get down on the ground. And seek God. hope this helps some. God Bless |

42 | How did alter calls or invitations start | Bible general Archive 2 | christian7 | 102632
Jim: Reading from the journal of Sam Watkins in a book called “Company Aytch” I came across the following entry. While he was attending a revival that was in Dalton, Georgia he noticed many soldiers coming to the services nightly. It was a custom to call up mourners and a long bench had been placed in proper position for them to kneel down at. Ten of them were kneeling down at this mourner’s bench, pouring out their souls in prayer to God, Asking Him for the forgiveness of their sins, and for the Salvation of their souls, for Jesus Christ their Redeemer’s sake. Page 107. Written in 1863. This mourner’s bench has been around for a very long time in Southern history. At the Church I attend often, they have these benches in the front of the Church building and many come there to mourn almost every time I go. Some refer to this as an alter or an alter call. I have seen them since I started going to church and have even visited them a few times myself. I find that this is an excellent and wonderful place to come and pray and mourn and there are others that come to join with you and just let you know you’re not alone in your battles. I have also been to churches that don’t have this bench. The understanding there is that you can settle or pray right where you are (which you can) and its just between you and the Lord with no one else knowing. I thank God for both. God Bless |

46 | How can Caiaphas see Jesus' return? | Rev 1:7 | christian7 | 102597
Dear Listener: According to scripture all shall see Him coming in the clouds. Jesus was prophesying of what the high priest had read in Daniel 7:13. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. This was telling the high priest that He was the Christ, God in the flesh and to call yourself God was blasphemy. Unless of course that you are God and Jesus is. KJV Matthew 24:30 30. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. KJV Mark 13:24-26 24. But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. KJV Revelation 1:7 7. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I hope this helps some. If not I will try to explain in more depth. God Bless |

47 | Can anyone see Jesus in this life | 1 Tim 6:16 | christian7 | 102593
dear friends In light of Acts 7 55. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. How can I answer a Mormon who insist that the same thing happen to Joe Smith as did Stephan? 1Tim 6:15. Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of Lords; 16. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. I understand the false teachings in this cult and just need some ballance for these 2 verses. Thanks in advance God Bless |

George; as I have been a part of this forum for a time I have noticed that some have proven themselves approved. Not causing division, but staying totally focused within context and proving certain teachings to be consistant throughout the word of God. These members have been of great value to me and are rooted, and grounded, and stand firm on the word of God regaurdless of who enters our forum. Post that help me to grow. Answers that help me to answer others. I praise God for them. You will see if you haven't already, the many that enter in through another door, that are not sheep of our fold. Only to cause division and confusion. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. These my friend, I must turn away. This is a great forum, but you asked for my thought and I will reply with all honesty. If I went to a church where people carried on like what happens on here I would pull my hair out and a few of the others also. :) .Lord knows I need what little I have left. 1Corinthians 11:17. Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. God Bless |

56 | athousand will flee from one man, | Is 30:17 | christian7 | 101646
ishey2 so full of fear of the enemy they shall be that in the metaphor God is saying that it will not take much of the enemy to make them flee. Five is a very small number as well as one. This is a prophesy of when the Caldean Army comes against them how easily they will fall. Isaiah 30:15. For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. Because they wouldn't listen to the Lord. hope this helps some. God Bless |

Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. 59 | Insufficient grace? | Luke 14:26 | christian7 | 101635
Seeking4truth: You were told correctly. It is by Jesus that we have forgiveness of sins and access to the Father. I wonder if the pastor told you about repentance, and turning away from your sins. If he didn’t I am certain that you know it by now. When we turned from our past and began a new life we needed direction. The bible tells us therefore being justified by faith; we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace witch passes all understanding must come at some cost to us. When we sin after our conversion the peace immediately feels diminished. We understand that Jesus paid the price for our sin and that by trusting in Him we will eventually make it to heaven. But there is something new in us that make us want to do the things that are pleasing to Him. God sends us His Comforter, the Holy Spirit and it leads us in this new direction. The desire to do the things that we once thought were right (our understanding being darkened) no longer feel that way. Again it is not because we can do good enough to get into heaven but for the peace to remain that we felt when we got saved we start to look at what is pleasing to Him. If you are living a certain way because of any other reason than you desire to, it is my guess that it wouldn’t have lasted long at all. So now comes the question, how can I live in a way that is pleasing to my Lord? Enter 180 degrees and start to live by what we do or don’t do. Did I mention that we were bought with a price? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that makes us want to live different than we lived before and if we don’t have that desire living inside of us we need to check our salvation. Is He powerless to keep us clean and pure before God after we become saved? No He is not powerless at all, oh that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. God Bless |
