61 | can women be pastors | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 54837
I will answer this question with a question. What if a woman was in a remote village in Afghanistan. Let's assume she is just being a normal christian and witnessing to the lost. Over a period of time many women and children are saved under her ministry. Then in order to obey the Word and assemble in fellowship they gather and there are no men yet that have joined them. They are the church, they are a local assembly and she is operating in the office of shepherd. So when there is a need for a woman to obey God in faith she must regardless of what denominations say she should do. |

62 | adulterous spouse than get remarried ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 55051
You have probably heard this before, but it has been said that the act of having sex with another person besides your spouse kills the covenant on your part. This is a mystery and demonstrates the spiritual nature of marraige. Now that being said it has to do with an act of betrayel and the spouse has the right to divorce in that case. However if the couple split for the more common reasons of arguing then they are still in that spiritual covenant as far as God sees it and in the invisible realm there is a bond that you do not see but God sees, so if one or the other remarries and engages in sex there is a crime commited in the spiritual realm of God's moral law and this is a mystery but there are many injustices that go on that we do not understand in the invisible realm. When God says he heard the blood of some crying to him from the ground it is not poetic language but a spiritual reality that we do not hear. Now that being said. If a man commits pornographic additction on the internet, it is not a light thing. Huge and horrible autrosities agains his wife are being committed by him in the spiritual realm and demons are flooding his home like a break in a dam. If he does not take it as a matter of life and death he will lose his wife as sure as if he had committed whoredom with a prostitute which of course is what he is doing in the heart. I could say much more about this hideous plague that is the number one sin in the church today. Just remember that the sin of internet porn is as bad or worse than anything Sodom and Gommorah were doing and this cup of abomination is being drunk by many nations as it has gone out from America first and most often and now infects the whole world. This wickedness is a spark of iniquity that will bring the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience and bring upon their heads swift destruction. It is the full cup of the gentiles (as was the cup of the amorites) that is going to cause God to rise up in indignation and wrath and say "I have born long with you but you will sin yet more and more and now even the pastors and those that should be preaching the word are sitting in their offices and homes drinking in the filth of whoredoms and their eyes are full of adultery and they cannot cease from sin" Oh my brethren that read this post may we repent as a dying man ready to meet God tomorrow and if we are allowed to stay here by the grace of God let us help our brothers get free from this hideous web so prophetically named. |

63 | can women be pastors | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 55053
I think I follow the pattern of Christ in my question in the exact same spirit of his question...Luke 14:5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? Or WHAT IF YOU HAVE A OX fall into a ditch on the sabbath? Yes the scripture says not to use the OX on the sabbath but you in your heart know that God is not against you getting that OX out of that ditch even though some legalist could preach a perfect sermon using the scriptures to back him up that you must not do it." Yet you know that my "what if about ministry work by women is real, it happens all over the world, and they will be blessed if they ignore condemnation from modern "pharisees" who strain at a gnat and swallow a camel in not seeing the heart message of Paul which is not that woman cannot minister the Gospel in all the gifts of God but that she should not pridefully challenge a man's authority. The context that a woman should not teach was not "a woman should not Preach and teach the word" but rather "a woman should not teach a man or in other words usurp authority over a man, or in other words, question him in a challenging dishonest way not wanting answers but wanting to provoke, and she should be humble and kind and respect her husband. This passage people love to use does not say she should not teach the bible. The words "teach, nor usurp authority" go to gether they explain each other, the teach here means to teach down at a man such as scold him as a child. has nothing to do with teaching the Bible in church or anywhere else. But this has been so misquoted it is hard for anyone to read only what it says without fitting their own words in the sentence. I do so now just to make it clear that it did not say a woman cannot preach the word.

Interesting. I have many great writings from God gifted women who have written doctrinal truths from the Word down through church history. Seems that when I read it, I am getting taught and they are women and I am a man. I guess the Lord can't be put in a box. Praise God for that.
65 | "Lost books" of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 84450
There is no evidence that there are any "lost books." There are references to books in the bible but the reference to the book does not say that the said book was ever considered scripture. To mention a book does not mean that there are any missing scriptures.

67 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85064
Maybe we should start with what it is not. (Part 1 of 2) The anointing is NOT... when you get a chill down your spine. The anointing is NOT... the volume of your voice when you preach, neither is it the gyrating and shaking of your body in a convulsive manner as if electric jolts have been administered to you with an unseen stun gun. The anointing is NOT... a mystical invisible cloud that floats around in the congregation, a forth person of the godhead, whose job it is to make people hoop and holler with laughter when it brushes by them. The anointing is NOT about a feeling, that sometimes you have when you are preaching something exceptionally enlightening from the scriptures and other times has left you on your own if you are having to suffer through a teaching on New Testament culture at the time of Christ on the various pottery produced to assist your audience in archaeological digs in and about the city of Bethlehem. If we look at the New Testament meaning of this word, (assuming that the use of the word in the New Testament will give insight into the shadow meaning of any oils and anointing in the priestly service) we find these scriptures to be somewhat cornerstones of doctrinal truths concerning the idea of Holy Spirit anointing. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. These all tell us that the Anointing that we speak of when we speak of a preacher being Anointed is that of a call and an equipping by God through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not leave the preacher, (or saint for we are all called to be anointed) the anointed abides with us John says. It does not come and go. (part 2 continued on next post) |

68 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85066
(Part 2 of 2) We are not anointed in one message about the resurrection and not anointed in another message about the genealogies. We are anointed by the Holy Spirit as a result of our salvation and call. The gifts and callings of God are without repentance. We will be anointed to preach the gospel when we go to sleep tonight, and anointed when we wake up. The anointing abides with us. You might feel joy when you contemplate the glories of the world to come, but it is not because you are now anointed, and before you weren't. Truly brethren we are either anointed or we aren't. Called or not. Saved or not. Now we are filled with the Holy Spirit and called and anointed. And we will remain so. The truth that we are anointed is the same as saying we go "in the name of Jesus Christ" We preach in his name because we are anointed. We baptize in His Name because it is He that gives us the authority to baptize because we are anointed by the Holy Spirit to do so. I may not feel very well today as I type this, I may not feel any desire to leap about and shout as some men do, nevertheless I am anointed, the anointing abides in me, and is not subject to my bodily infirmities. There are times that we may be filled with the Holy Spirit in the sense that our inner man is strengthened and emboldened and our faith made strong and we receive power to witness and do ministry that is empowered by the Holy Spirit and not by our own ambitions, and these times are extra ordinary, more than the normal infillings of the Spirit of God to do service. As we see in Acts when Peter must make a confession before his accusers, it says that Peter... being filled with the Holy Ghost... spake, not as though he did not have the Holy Spirit before, but there are times when the Lord gives us an outpouring of His Spirit when we need it to do His will. I do not call this the anointing though such an association is common in today's church, and technically it may include the fact that we are anointed. I call it "being filled with the Holy Spirit." The danger of calling feelings "the anointing" is that you will see all sorts of fleshly demonstrations being called the anointing. I fear God when I hear such things and cringe to hear it. I would be careful not to use the term anointing as it relates to being filled with the Holy Spirit for service unless you are preaching Jesus Christ. We know that the Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus Christ, that it brings to remembrance the word of God, but we do not want to accuse the Holy Spirit of doing some of the things we see demonstrated in services today. I heard a preacher speaking about a particular non-canonical story about simon the man who was compelled to carry the cross, the story is not considered authentic by most and never was taken very serious, more likely a spurious story that once circulated as many such stories sprang up in the ages preceding Christ. The preacher in teaching this extra biblical record, said he felt the anointing coming upon him. This is the kind of error that associating the "anointing" with feelings produces. What if the story is not even true, as most agree, then he is stating that God is confirming the extra biblical doubtful record and accusing God of confirming a lie. It is dangerous for us to presumptuously say that this is the Holy Spirit. That is what is meant when someone says.. I am being anointed to teach this. If it is the Holy Spirit, He will testify of Jesus and confirm the Word of God not the traditional stories or other such doubtful records. I have gone on long enough. I hope this has been helpful and confirmed in you what many already suspected concerning the modern use of the world anointing. May God Bless You as You Study His Word. |

69 | No, the dead are still DEAD...not alive! | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85472
Mark 12:26-27 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 1 Peter 3:18-19 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. Mark 9:4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. Seems to me that Elijah was taken to heaven and appears on the Mount which means all that time he has been conscious. Where are the saint of old now? The legal requirments were met in Christ and they ascended up with Him. |

70 | What is truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 86218
Bible Truth Follows. John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth. Revelation 5:8-14 And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon earth. And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped. Whatever your views on Jesus, it better be like these above if you want to be in the number that worship the Lamb (Jesus). Most that deny Christ are not worth arguing with, they are blaspheming and opposing themselves, they will not listen to reason because you have to twist too many scriptures to teach such strange things, but I am really just posting this for any that might come across these cult teachings you have posted, those that have not read the bible much need to know that there are hundreds of scriptures that declare the Jesus is the Son of God and therefore God. We pray to the Father in Jesus Name becuase only when we accept the Divinity of Jesus do we have access to the Father. Many will pray "God get me out of this mess" and they feel like their prayers rarely get answered, but when they turn to Christ they are saved and God hears. There is no other salvation but faith in Jesus Christ and all those that deny His divinity will be cursed from His presence forever. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. This verse alone should be enough to stop the argument and cause all cult members to repent for ever saying Jesus was not God. But I have even heard cult teachers try and twist this verse. They can't do it, and every attempt exposes that they are not honest truth seekers but that they have some hidden agenda and are willing to go to any means to blaspheme Christ. When this happens you have to shake the dust of your feet and move on. Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. I believe that after Paul prooved from the scriptures that Jesus was indeed the Christ, these Jews in this passage said something that amounted to "even if this is the Christ.. We will not follow him" and so Paul knew there was nothing else to say. When a person takes a verse like 1 Timothy 3:16 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. And says.. it does not mean God here when it says God was manifest in the flesh.. he is doing what John warned us about... 2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:10-11 If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works. So this would be a direct commmandment to not play around with JW cult but be direct with them that unless they repent they will indeed find that hell is real and the flames never cease. |

71 | what verse in the bible has a 33 yr gap | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 86541
not to start any kind of debate on it but, it could be that John was referring to all of the things Jesus did that revealed his Glory. such as... John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. Mark 9:1-3 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. 2 Peter 1:16-18 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. |

72 | Knowing God's will under short notice | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 88189
I suggest a book by Richard Bolles, Called "What Color is Your Parachute" This book will help change your thinking and show you how to get a job where you want to live, in the type of work you want to be in, making the kind of money you want to make. This book is full of statistical proof that what it says works and the familiar methods that most people use do not. I can vouch for the methods becuase I used them to change careers and got the exact job I was looking for in my city when others said no one was hiring. The job I got was not in the newspaper or on the web, I followed the logical common sense methods in the book. God's will is not as limited as we sometimes think. God's will can be done in your life if you move out of state for a job or if you stay where you are at and get a job. I am in the market and I have had some opportunities come my way lately all out of state, I turned them down without prayer. Why? becuase I am not desperate. I know I am where I am supposed to be and I am do not need to be praying about moving. I will know when of if I am supposed to move somewhere and it will not be because of a job but because of a Call of God. You can know when you have a CALL OF GOD. It is not something we are not sure of. So until God Calls you to a radical move, seek a job where you are and don't believe the reports that there are no jobs. You only need one. It takes just as much prayer for God to lead you to that job he has for you in your city than it does to pray about moving. Get that book, it will tell you exactly how to do it. God Bless You. |

73 | WHO SAW THE H.S. AT JESUS BAPTISIM | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 39504
When I read it I see it as visible to all. The voice from heaven was heard by all and so there is no reason to "guess" at an illogical thought that only John saw the 'dove'. If I write such an account and do not tell you otherwise you are going to think I am saying that the dove was seen by all that were within eyesight. If I meant anything else I would be careful to make sure you knew with words such as "but no one else saw it but John" this is becuase we understand that that would be something that would need to be explained, however saying and "everyone saw it" is not necessary because we would expect that everyone saw it.
74 | The Ordination of Women | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43046
This is one area where understanding early New Testament culture is important. Also reading the context of the scriptures. The true doctrine is that women should be under authority but they can preach and teach only they should be under authority of spiritual men. Also there is not a lot of scriptural backing for the idea of ordination anyway. I mean if leaders lay hands on her and send he forth after they have all prayed and heard from God then that is scriptural. But formal ordination and letters and licenses are man made and never were commanded by God. Those are attempt of men to control other preachers threatening them with removal of office if they do not agree with their doctrines. If she is called by God she will have a peaceful heart and walk in Love and in a spirit of gentleness, obey God. She will do the will of God and preach what He tells her to, to whom He tells her to, while the carnal argue over whether she should or not. And while they are arguing about it, she will be winning souls and laying up treasure in heaven. Tell her to join a charismatic church or a non-denominational church, they welcome women and recognize that God uses women just like men. The one thing she must not do is strive with men about it. If God has called her to preach, she will do so, and no man will be able to stop her, howbeit she should not say this, but rather just do it. God Bless You in your Study of His Word You can read in many commentaries how the women were asking questions out of order and that was why Paul said they should ask their husbands at home. And in the church a woman should not have authority over a man. So I think that rules out single women pastoring. But not entirely. What I mean is that a missionary woman will often operate in the office of a pastor until a man is appointed. There were women judges in Israel and there will be women that God chooses today. The main thing is the heart that has faith in God. Whether it be woman , man or child, if an individual exercises faith in God He will move heaven and earth to show himself mighty on thier behalf. The thing that amazes me is how certain denominations made by men will create laws for new testament saints and forget about the spirit of the message. You would think that after reading the New testament they would get it. That there are no such "laws" for New testament saints. We walk in holiness that is greater than anything the OT saints new, and we do it without a list of rules. We do it by fellowship with God. The truth will set her free. |

75 | How can I know GOD? | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85471
Dewey, it is this simple. God is Holy and perfect. Man has sinned, God cannot just overlook our sins, so God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for sin that we all deserve. The punishment for sin is death. Jesus died for you. But Jesus being sinless did not stay dead. Death had no legal right over Jesus becuase he had never sinned. So Jesus rose from the Dead three days later. Jesus is Alive right now. God (who cannot lie) promises us that we can be born again in our spirit and know God. As "New Creature" has posted scriptures, there are many such promises in the Bible. These are not just words in a book. They are the words of God who cannot lie. You are required to take the first step of faith and believe that God mean what he said. He said if anyone will come to him he will not cast him out. Anyone. Are you an anyone? Then you qualify. Just pray something like this. "Lord I believe in you and your Son Jesus Christ. I am sincerely sorry for my sins, and ask you to forgive me of all unrighteousness. I know I do not deserve your mercy but I know that you cannot lie and that you sent your Son to pay the price for me so that I could be saved. Lord I give you my life and will live for you with my whole heart the rest of my life." If you pray something like that, (and the wording is not important, but the heart of faith and repentance is what God accepts), then you are promised to have eternal life and know God. May God bless you daily as you read the Bible and grow daily in His image. The next step is to find a local church in your area and asked to be baptized in water as an act of faith in what Christ has done for you. |

78 | Cain and Seth's wives descended from who | Genesis | Scribe | 45389
Yes this was always so obvious to me that I was never stumped by this question the first time I heard it. When I heard the question often repeated I realized that these people did not read the bible. Those that think it is a hard question to answer are being silly. I found out years later that it was presented in the Scopes Monkey trials in America as some sort of good point. I was surprised to learn that the defense did not answer it with simplicity as it is obvious that after through hundreds of years there were plenty of women to marry. And it is obvious that those that raise the question about marrying relatives do not study the Bible either. For instance if they were going to make it a point then they would use Noah not Cain. There is no question that Noahs sons had children that at least at the beginning had to marry first cousins. And what about Abraham. Remember the reason he thought he could truthfuly say that Sarah was his sister is because he said " she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife."Ge 20:12 So what is the point? That Cain should not have married a close relative? Or that they think that Cain found a woman in a land when he got there? Or is the point that Cain went out and found a land called Nod already inhabited? This is not true. Cain started a city and he named it Enoch and then when Moses is telling us about it he tells us it was in the location of what was then called Nod when Moses is writing about it. But it was not called Nod when Cain settled there but in order for the reader to know where Enoch was located Moses tells us it was in the Land of Nod that Cain built a city and called in Enoch. It is obvious that Cain took a wife from Adams camp. Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. |

79 | what does the sons of God (6:1) mean? | Genesis | Scribe | 48208
This question is dealt with in a very thorough way in many commentaries that are available on the web for free. I think it has also been addressed here on this study forum. If you do a search on Gen 6:4 you will find excellent answers dealing with the scriptures. Read posts by Ron and Makarios and many others. I will not attempt at this time to re post all the great answers already given. But I will add a couple of thoughts as to why this error of the idea of angels mating with women still has not been put to rest. The truth of this passage is a foundational truth and if satan can muddy it up it goes a long way in helping him with his stratedgies against the godly. From the beginning of time one of the main wiles of the devil against the saints has been to get them to compromise with the world. You see this lesson here with the sons of God which are Adams camp and the children of men which are in Cains camp. The lesson was first taught in Gen 1 when God put a difference between the light and the darkness. If we take Genesis as a stand alone book for a moment, and use all fairness of logic in understanding the text, you would assume based on the way the text says the sons of god saw the daughters of men.. that some mention had been given of these sons of god sense no further explanation is given. And indeed we find at the end of Gen 4 that at the time of Seth.. then men began to call themselves by the name of the Lord. And no doubt call upon the Name of the Lord.. as they sought a better country. and a city not made by hands. However over here in Cains camp we see men making all sorts of tents and instruments of liesure and earthly industry. Now we know that putting it in todays activity we see no harm in inventing muscial instruments and making things of brass, and crafting tents after all Paul was a tent maker, but see this is an ancient text and seeing that Cains camp is making these things and not Adams means the sons of God were looking for a change, a redemption, a restoration to what Adam knew in the garden as promised to him in Gen 3, the time keeps going on and Enoch who lived some 360 years contemporary with Adam is prophesying the coming of the redeemer, and Enoch is having to contend with mockers from Cains camp that are teaching false doctrine. Yes even the same doctrine of Balaam. (read Jude) now what did balaam teach? that if the moabite women would mix with the Israelites they would be cursed by their own disobedience to God. You have this same lesson repeated throughout the bible all the way to Revelation. And then in Rev the words of Christ to the Church.. that they too are going to have this same attack from the powers of darkness to tempt them to listen to the doctrine of the Nicolatains, the Doctrine of Balaam, and the doctrine of Jezebel which are nothing more than a repeat of the same heart sin.. compromise with the world. Come out from among them and be ye seperate. That is still the message to the sons of God today. And so see why thinking this has to do with angels and women has no redeeming value or lesson, and yet my application is applicable throughout the bible. Follow the Holy Spirit and do not resist His Leading.Even if Jobs passage is about angels and that has not been proven.. It does not mean that these sons of god in Gen are angels. Nor does it mean that angels in Rev 2-3 when addressing the church meant angels, but instead it was a symbolic word given to mean pastors, and the reward that waits them if they are faithful, which is that they will be "as" the angels. In Lukes genealogy in tracing back Christ to Adam when he gets to Adam he says "which was the son of god". God bless you in your study of His Word. |

80 | Was Eve the first female | Genesis | Scribe | 51758
Gen 2 reviews what has already been stated in Gen 1. God is giving us more details. For instance in Gen 2 he mentions bringing forth animals from the ground, not as if he brought them from the ground then after he made Adam, but he is saying by this mention of bringing them from the ground that "the animals he brought forth from the ground before he made man, he did it for the purpose of man, and he brought these animals before adam to let him name them. Some get confused thinking that God brought the animals from the ground after he made man, and yet Gen 1 tells us what order he did it. Gen 2 is not telling us the order, the order was already given with exact day number. The purpose of Gen 2 is not order but the "why" So he is saying.. the animals God brought from the ground in Gen 1 he made to pass before adam to see what he would name them. Same for the verse about Eve. He is saying The woman that God made in Gen 1 this is how it happened... First, God brought all the animals he had made out of the ground before he made man and made them to pass before him, but that did not work, so then he put man to sleep , and made the woman, that was the ticket. Gen 2 is more detail about Gen 1. The bible is full of these by the way. Personally I do not think Eve added to the words of God when she said, "neither shall ye touch it." I think God really did say that, it was not recorded in the first mention when God said don't eat it. But the woman is giving us more detail about what God said. This is also seen in Pauls mention of his Damscus Rd experience, where when it is mentioned in Acts the first time certain words of Christ are given, and later when Paul is testifying Pauls says more words that Christ said that are not in the first mention. This is not becuase Paul was adding to what Jesus said, it is just another mention of the event giving us more details. And if it be the case with Paul what right do we have to say Eve was adding to God's word when she said "neither shall you touch it." I think God did say that and it fits with many other scriptures, touch not the uncleand thing. |
