61 | The Purpose of Hell? | Rom 9:20 | Rom831 | 29868
I agree. What I was poorly trying to say is that God doesn't just sit in heaven, point to some random person and say "condemned". We are saved or condemned based on if we have accepted Christ. The choice is ours. If WE believe, we are given God's grace and are saved. If WE do not, we are condemned because of that choice. Not simply because God picked us to suffer. Bless...ArtS |

63 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 28950
This is a post I just gave to another question on this. Basiclly, God has already chosen who will be saved. But the question is, who are chosen and why? Revelation 17:14 says those "who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful." We are chosen not by name. God didn't sit down with a big list of names and check us off Santa-style as saved and unsaved. Those who are chosen, are those who are with Jesus. Meaning God didn't choose me specifically, He chose (predestined) those who would believe in His Son as a whole. 1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father... See? chosen by God's foreknowledge. Not randomly, but by His foreknowledge of who would accept His Son. Remember, God knew our whole lives well before we ever existed. He knew then who would accept Jesus and who would not. To me, this is the only way to have the whole Bible fit without the old "What Jesus was really saying was..." trick. I believe if He was really wanting to say anything else, He'd have said it. Bless...ArtS |

64 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 29004
You're looking at this from our point of view in linear time, not from God's point of view from eternity. It does not say that God chose the elect by name to be saved. It says those who are with Him are the chosen. Yes, our names are written there, because we believe, not out of a cosmic lottery. Mark 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved" Notice, "saved" comes after "believed". If we had to be chosen first, we'd be chosen to be saved, so we believed. I'm sorry. Feel free to disagree. But the only way to reconcile all of scripture, is for us to have the choice. Otherwise spreading the gospel as Jesus commands is pointless, belife is irrellevant, Jesus' whole ministery of belife is wasted air, Jesus died for nothing, and God does NOT desire that none shall be lost but instead is an evil being who has condemned the majority of people to an eternity of suffering in a lake of fire by HIS will alone. Not to mention, if God chose me specifically for heaven and specifically chose someone else for hell, MAN what a boasting right!! "He chose me and not you and there's nothing you can do about it!! " It just doesn't work. As for your other post on foreknowledge, again I'm sorry, but instead of twisting His words, lets believe what He says. John 6:64 "But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe. There, the word "fore knowledge" isn't used so you can't twist it. It says that Jesus knew who would not believe. Not who were not allowed to believe or not chosen so they couldn't believe. Bless...ArtS |

We are all novices. No one can fully understand God and His ways. We just have to keep striving. Bless...ArtS |

Sure we can. We cannot fully understand Him or His ways, but we can surely see that they are not ours. And we can see that He is not bound by the things He has created, such as OUR view of linear time. Then we can look at how things would be without the constraints of such hindering things. 67 | A vision of Love | Eph 5:2 | Rom831 | 28958
One thing I really liked with the 1 Cor verses is to remember that "God is love". So for each of those verses that say what love is, God is as well. Other good verses are John 15:12, Rom 12:9-10, Rom 13:8-10 and Eph 5:2. Bless...ArtS |

68 | John 3:16.. whoever believes not perish? | Rev 13:8 | Rom831 | 28949
Matthew 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen." But the question is, who are chosen and why? So to answer your questions, 1: we know we are chosen if we believe in Jesus. 2: The unchosen are those who do not accept Jesus. Unfortunately, yes, they do go to hell. 3-4: do you see how the explanation above answers this? The chosen ARE those who believe. Bless...ArtS |

69 | John 3:16.. whoever believes not perish? | Rev 13:8 | Rom831 | 28955
Not at all! WE make the choice to believe or not believe. Believing in no way makes us deserve to go to Heaven. We are still as much sinners as those who do not believe. There is nothing we can do, or have done to deserve to go to Heaven. What god did was to, in advance say, "OK, I have two groups of people: those who'll believe in My Son and those who won't. So what I'm going to do, is that for all of those who choose to accept My Son, their sins will be paid for by My son's death and they will be with Me." And through Jesus, He gives US the choice which group to join; those who He has allowed to be covered by the blood of Jesus, or those who willfully reject it and are condemned. He predestined the group, not the individule. He has then said to us, "Now its up to you. Believe and be saved, do not believe and be condemned." He puts no one there, we do that ourselves.
