61 | Integrity | Num 12:7 | Praise Be To God | 132001
Hello, Aaron. It is nice to meet you. Although, as you say, there are many good choices, I have decided that I think Job is the greatest example of integrity. We even have scriptures to back it up. Thanks to Kalos. So, in my mind, it's not Joseph; and it's not Daniel; not Moses, nor King David. Yes, decidely, it is Job. Thank you for participating. Praise be to God! Janae |

62 | Integrity | Num 12:7 | Praise Be To God | 132037
Greetings, Country Girl. Thank you for your great response. Yes, I had thought of Enoch--another very good example of integrity. As you so rightly say, there are plenty of good candidates from God's Word. Job is a very good example, and there is even scripture to back it up. But, we have overlooked the obvious. The greatest example of integrity in the Bible is Jesus Christ.
63 | Canaanite | Deut 7:2 | Praise Be To God | 140641
A friend of mine is starting a church. He is thinking of using the name, "Canaanite" in the name of his church. "Canaanite" is synonomous with sexual perversion. Noah cursed the Canaanites. I don't know HOW he wants to use this name in the name of his church, but I would imagine it would be to show that even the Canaanite is forgiven. Jesus chose Simon the Canaanite to be an Apostle (Matthew 10:4; Mark 3:18). I would appreciate any feedback on whether it would be a good idea to use this name as a part of the name of a church or not. Thanks. Janae. |

64 | intercessors and the church | Deut 25:5 | Praise Be To God | 139623
Dear Big O: I am an intercessor in my church. We gather an hour before our Sunday morning service to pray for the service and for the people; we also lay hands on our pastor and pray for him. On Friday mornings we have a prayer meeting to pray for our church and our pastor, but I am unable to attend those prayer meetings because I work. However, on Thursday nights, we have another prayer meeting that I am able to attend. At that meeting we pray for our nation and our president, and the war in Iraq, for example. We allow the Holy Spirit to lead us as to what we pray for. We follow God's agenda. We want our church to be known as a house of prayer. I hope this enlightens you. Love in Christ Jesus, Janae |

67 | Why would anyone feel obligated to tell | 1 Sam 16:2 | Praise Be To God | 139506
I think Samson was enraptured with Delilah, and would have done anything she asked, even to his own demise, which he did. Samson was a womanizer, and I think Delilah used that to her advantage. She seemed to take advantage of people a lot: Judges 16:18: "And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand." Janae |

68 | worship in front of a wooden cross | 2 Kin 18:4 | Praise Be To God | 146087
Our church had a very large wooden cross on the platform for many weeks. Pinned upon this cross were index cards containing the prayers of believers in our church. We, as a congregation, prayed for those prayer needs and I, personally, went up to the cross and touched it as I prayed, as did many others. Not once did it occur to me that I was worshipping the cross. Instead, it made me feel closer to God and closer to those people who had written out their prayer requests. It is ridiculous to think that anyone would be worshipping the cross! That cross is a symbol of why Jesus came to earth, and reminds us why we pray in the first place. To think that someone would be worshipping that cross, you would have to think that your fellow believers are heathenistic pagans from another century! Give people a little credit, won't you? The object of our worship is Jesus Christ, not the cross He died on. And, by the way, our Pastor and his staff prayed daily for weeks at that cross, touching it, and many prayers were answered. 71 | Psalm 19 | Ps 19:1 | Praise Be To God | 133171
I do not know what this person was trying to tell you, but here is what the commentary in my Full Life Study Bible says about Psalm 19. Maybe you can glean some insight from this: "19:1 THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD. The Judeo-Christian view is that the physical world declares God's glory and creative power (cf. 148:3-5; cf. Rom. 1:18-20). The view of many unbelievers, in contrast, is that the creation itself is a divine entity (see Deut. 4:19; 2 Ki. 23:5), with a force that controls human destiny (see Is. 47:13; Dan. 4:7); others believe that it came about by chance. The true believer rejects these views, accepts the Scriptural revelation about the universe, and is thus moved to praise the Maker (see Psalm 89:5-8). 19:7-11 THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT. These verses speak of the nature, benefits and value of God's law and word. The five facets are (1) "The law" - a general term for God's revealed will, which directs a person in a right relation to Him (v.7). (2) "The testimony" - God's true word which testifies to His character and will (cf. I John 5:9), the study of which makes us wise (v.7). (3) "The statutes - definite rules concerning righteous living that are a joy to the godly (v.8). (4) "The commandments" - the authoritative source of guiding light for the faithful who seek His way (v.8; cf. Acts 26:18); the proper response to God's commandmant is the "fear of the Lord," which brings freedom from a life of sin (v.9). (5) "The judgments" - laws governing social life, which lead to justice and righteousness (v.9). 19:12 CLEANSE THOU ME FROM SECRET FAULTS. Sincere believers endeavor to love and serve God with all their heart (Deut. 6:5). Because they are still imperfect in this life, however, they may fall short of God's will without knowing it and thus need to seek God's forgiveness for their errors and hidden faults (see Lev. 5:2-4). On the other hand, presumptuous or willful sins are a "great transgression" (v.13) that involve despising God and His word and the loss of a place in His kingdom (see Num. 15:30-31; Gal. 5:19-21). 19:14 MY MOUTH . . . HEART, BE ACCEPTABLE IN THY SIGHT. The proper response to the work of salvation in our lives is a constant prayer that God will keep our hearts, words, and lives free from sin and pleasing to Him. Both the meditation of our hearts and the reflection of our minds should be acceptable to God." God bless you, dear, I hope this helps. Janae. |

72 | Terri's Passing | Ps 116:15 | Praise Be To God | 147349
I just wanted to let you know that I tried to stand-in for Terri Schiavo on the eve of her death, in prayer at my church. I asked the Pastor if I could do it before the service started and he said, "We might not get to that point." All evening, the main topic of discussion by our pastor was "hunger and thirst" for Christ. I kept thinking to myself, "There is no one more hungry or more thirsty than Terri Schiavo." I was gravely disappointed that we did not pray for her. I cannot understand why we did not. I don't know what our pastor could have been thinking to be so remiss. I apologize that I was unable to carry out this request. The good news is, she's with the Lord now. I just heard Dr. Dobson's "Focus on the Family" radio program, which was today about Terri Schiavo's death, and I am feeling saddened and helpless. What now are the implications for the severely disabled all over our country? Last night at prayer meeting we prayed against the spirit of death which has been released in this country. I speak life into these United States. God is our light. Let the light of God dispel the darkness. Let God's kingdom reign in these United States! Even so, Come, Lord Jesus, Come. Janae |

73 | I need to know what is the first fruits | Prov 3:9 | Praise Be To God | 142525
The firstfruits is "the best." It is not "Firstfruits vs. Tithing," FIRSTFRUITS IS TITHING. You give God the first and best 10 per cent of all your increase. You always give God your best; not your leftovers. Also, firstfruits refers to Jesus as being "firstfruits of the dead," being raised to life. (See I Corinthians 15:20). Janae |

75 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Praise Be To God | 142000
It is not hatred for homosexuals, it is hatred of the sin of homosexuality. Satan is trying to destroy families. God ordained the family, and Satan wants to destroy it, and he is doing a pretty good job of it. Families don't even eat together anymore. Making what is an abomination to God the norm, will destroy us and God will judge us. We are no better than Sodom and Gomorrah if we allow homosexuality to become the norm. I, personally, am very distressed and saddened by the whole situation. Satan has again deceived the world with a lie, and look at how many believe it! They say, "What is the harm?" I ask you, how can God continue to bless us, when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Janae. |

76 | Who is "righteous?" | Prov 14:32 | Praise Be To God | 138390
Greetings in Christ, Romans 3:10 says: "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:". When we put on the armour of God, we put on Christ's righteousness, and we are clothed in His righteousness, but our own unrighteousness is like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags". Only in Christ can we be righteous, and we are made righteous through Him. All Praise Be Unto God, Janae |

79 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Praise Be To God | 133187
Yes, I agree with you that the only prayer WE KNOW God hears from the unbeliever is the prayer of salvation. But, God can do anything. He can even answer the prayer of an unbeliever, and I know He answered mine. Janae. |

80 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Praise Be To God | 133219
Hi, Angel. No, I am not an unbeliever. (Remember my "Spiritual Dilemma" post?) I have been saved for 13-1/2 glorious years. But, the event of my prayer being answered happened BEFORE I WAS SAVED, I prayed to God and He answered my prayer. I did not know the Bible or scriptures which say, " If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" All I knew was that my husband, myself and our three daughters and baby son were going to be put out on the street in one week! I sought God and He answered. I knew a little about God and yes, I believed in Him, but I thought my life had been such a shambles that He would not want me. After that prayer, we even went to church one time, and LIKED IT!!! But we didn't keep up with it. The house we moved into, the lady next door was a Christian and she was constantly trying to draw me to the Lord. If only we had listened back then. If only we would have let the Lord into our lives back then, I would not be divorced now and my children would have BOTH PARENTS together. But, alas, my ex-husband is completely lost, and I do pray for him. I did not actually come to the Lord until our divorce. God used that to bring me to Him. PRAISE GOD!!! Janae. |
