62 | Jehovah's witnesses | Bible general | EdB | 241251
The Jehovah Witnesses are founded on a lie. Their Bible the New World Translation is not authentic. The JW will not reveal the people involved in the translation or which original manuscripts they used. However what is known is all the people associated with JW at the time were incapable of translating the NWT. Therefore it is simply a rewrite of the KJV with changes made to suit or conform to JW teaching. The biggest problem is John 1:1. Orthodox Christianity teaches Jesus was not a created being but was God. This is confirmed in John 1:1. However the JW teach that Jesus was a created being and changed John 1:1 to say he became God rather than He was God. Also JW do not believe in grace alone but insists works are needed to get you into heaven. They are very close to Christianity and that is why they are so dangerous. If they were miles apart it would be easy to see them for what they are. However since they are so close it is hard to distinguish between the truth and the lie. Jesus said He was the door through which we must pass to reach the Father. Orthodox Christianity's Jesus is God the Son the ever existent being that manifested Himself to man. Jehovah Witness's Jesus is a created being. Created in the minds of the JW leadership. Therefore not the true door way that leads to God eternal. There are many other problems with the JW belief system but I highlighted the most erroneous. I suggest you read Walter Martin's Kingdom of the Cults to get a full understanding of falsehoods of the JW. |

63 | Where does it mention the Sheehans? | Bible general | EdB | 241292
Sheehans is a disease as far as I know so I think you mean Shekinah Glory. The word shekinah does not appear in the Bible, but the concept clearly does. The Jewish rabbis coined this extra-biblical expression, a form of a Hebrew word that literally means "he caused to dwell," signifying that it was a divine visitation of the presence or dwelling of JEHOVAH God on this earth. The Shekinah was first evident when the Israelites set out from Succoth in their escape from Egypt. There it appeared as a cloudy pillar in the day and a fiery pillar by night: “After leaving Succoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people” (Exodus 13:20-22). Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/shekinah-glory.html#ixzz3EAjWVbFm |

64 | is wearing jewelry leads to hell ? | Bible general | EdB | 241294
Jesus died on the cross. What sends us to hell is our refusal to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The motive for wearing Jewelry is far more telling than the jewelry itself. If we are wearing jewelry to flaunt our wealth then we have a problem in our heart as it is not set on Jesus. If we are wearing Jewelry to brighten our appearance or to signify we are engaged or married there isn't a problem. |

66 | Jehovah's name | Bible general | EdB | 241380
The name Jehovah is made up. Most scholars contribute it to Tyndale. It is believed he took the tetragram YHWH and added the vowels from the Greek word for God "Adonai". The Latin influence of pronunciation of Y becomes J and W to V |

67 | The GENEVA BIBLE anything of interest? | Bible general | EdB | 241382
I use the NASB to do personal study but I find I have a hard time reading aloud from it so I use either the NJKV or NLT. I like the NLT because for many listeners English is a second language and the NLT is easy for them to understand.
68 | Theos - Adonai | Bible general | EdB | 241386
I'm sorry my answer yesterday was totally off, I really don't know where it came from. My Apology!!!! YHWH (Yodh He Waw He)made up of Hebrew letters and is the term used for God approx 6800 times in original manuscripts. The error in my original answer was on the origin of the word Adonai which means LORD in Hebrew not Latin or Greek. However both the Greeks and Roman had gods named similarily. Adonis and Adonia. Tyndale it is believed took the word YHWH which modern Jews do not speak and combined it with vowels of the word Adonai (Lord). The word Adonai was commonly used when speaking of God. The problem with contributing Jehovah to Tyndale is some Masoretic text did vowel point the YHWH to make it appear as Ye ho vah but it was still pronounced Adonai (Lord or Master). In any case the word Jehovah as we pronounce it first showed up in English in the Tyndales Bible and as such Tyndale is said to have made the word. Again sorry if I made you lose any sleep. :-) |

69 | Sex before marriage ? | Bible general | EdB | 241395
First to answer your question requires speculation and as you probably know speculation on this forum is frowned on. That said and risking the wrath of many I will offer my speculation. Matthew 22:1-14 speaks of this. The man in verse 11 thought he was saved but hadn't changed. I think the church in America today is filled with people that believe they are saved but haven't changed. J Vernon McGee once said over 65 percent of the people sitting in church are not saved. I questioned this and surveyed brother pastors. The results I now believe that the actual number is only about 10 percent of those that attend church are actually saved. Many think they can fool God. Fornication is sin any way you cut it. |

70 | Has The GLORY of the LORD left the USA? | Bible general | EdB | 241530
Justme this question requires speculation and that is frowned upon on this forum. That said and at the risk of chastisement I will take a stab at your question. Scripture tells us God protected Israel as a nation, but in cases of other protection it was most usually an individual. We are also told by scripture that all governments are God ordained, be they bad or good. I think as Christians we need to rest trusting in God for His protection of us and not so much for our nation. At the judgment seat no nation will stand only individuals. |

71 | difference in a Christians funeral? | Bible general | EdB | 241532
Our society is becoming more and more mixed Christian - Non. Sadly this trend is equally occurring in our families and friends. At one time Christians had Christian families and friends. God was present in the funeral. Today in many cases there is a wide range of beliefs. The lost of this world have no hope thus their funerals are hopeless and without God's presence. That is the difference. Is God present or not? As a Christian I have little regard for my funeral in fact all I want is a celebration service. When I discard this tent I have no use for it and no desire to eulogize it or my life. My reward await me in heaven. |

72 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | EdB | 241544
Opinion HCSB is another of many translations. Many denominations sought easy to read and easy to understand translations to use in their denominational material. Like Sunday School material and internal magazine articles. However some publishers made changed to these translation to be more marketable ("gender correctness") it put the denominations that were using their material and didn't agree with the changes in a bad position. The Baptist decided to prevent future occurances of this happening they decided to publish their own translatiion which they could insure stayed true to their beliefs. I believe the HCSB used both the Westcott Hort Greek and the Textus Receptus. However when there is a discreptency they do not identify it other than saying some manuscripts say this or omit that. |

73 | God created man sin-ful? | Bible general | EdB | 241545
Don't get confused here what you are discussing is seen by most serious students of scripture. It is not a Calvin/Luther thing. You are not coming to the same conclusion of just Calvin and Luther but the conclusions of everyone that seeks the truth in scripture. This truth once discovered is often the place where man stops seeking more of God and starts allowing his own ideas shape his final concept/theology of the truth. Hence we have some 3000 plus denominations/theologies all claiming they are the truth. I believe this is where the leading of the Holy Spirit is so important. |

74 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | EdB | 241550
I have and use the HCSB both hard copy and electronically. My only concern is when a verse is notated as "some manuscripts omit the last part of this passage" or "some manuscripts read thus and such" or "some manuscripts add this or that word" they don't identify the manuscript. It could be a change made by the Textus Receptus or a change by Westcott and Hort. I simply like to know who is making the claim that verse should read different. I still prefer the NASB for personal study, NLT when I want simplicity and clarity of understanding, and NKJV to preach from. Please post your conclusions when you have formed them, I would be interested in hearing what you think. |

75 | Has The GLORY of the LORD left the USA? | Bible general | EdB | 241551
I like what John MacArthur says on this subject. The phrase taken out of the way must not be interpreted to mean that the Holy Spirit will be removed from the world. That is impossible, since He is omnipresent. Nor could anyone be saved during the Tribulation (cf. Rev. 7:14) apart from His regenerating work (John 3:3-8; Titus 3:5). The phrase refers not to the removal of the Holy Spirit from the world, but rather to the cessation of His restraining work. Excerpt from MacArthur's commentary on 2 Thess. |

76 | White linen and blue linen symbolizes..? | Bible general | EdB | 241606
We generally see four colors. Red - Blood Blue - Sky or watere Purple - Royality White - Purity Purple and Blue were not mixed colors but instead were dyes obtained from Molusk and thus were very expensive. Red often came from fruit and was less expensive and of course white was bleached linen. Some see the four colors are all shadows, representing the four facets of Jesus, and the four Gospels. Purple - color of royalty, corresponds to Matthew, who portrays Jesus as King, also represented by the face of a lion. White - color of servant, corresponds to Mark, who portrays Jesus as the servant, also represented by the face of an ox. Red - color of blood, corresponds to Luke, who portrays Jesus as man, also represented by the face of a man. Blue - color of Heaven, corresponds to John, who portrays Jesus as God, also represented by the face of an eagle. Other see Blue-King, Scarlet-Judge, Purple-Prophet, and agan white purity |

77 | difference in a Christians funeral? | Bible general | EdB | 241646
I tend to agree with your view of funeral industry. I'm leaning toward cremation with no real funeral, but instead a memorial service. In the past I attended the funeral of my Grandparents and my memory of them is seeing them dead in the casket. My own parents were cremated with a memorial service and my memory of them is when I last saw them alive and living. I think you are talking of the Amish when you say Mennonite with horse and buggy. I was born and raised in Pa near Amish country and I'm very familar with them. Many in background (great grand parents) were Mennonite and while they held close belief with the Amish they all drove cars and used electricity. I will say you will not get a finer coffin than one built by Amish craftsman. |

78 | Where is Heaven ? | Bible general | EdB | 241756
Heaven is where God resides. It is a spiritual kingdom that is far superior to our physical world. It is hard for us to understand spiritual realities but as we draw closer to God more and more are revealed to us. Seek God and let your faith be strengthen and increased. |

79 | Where does affliction come from ? | Bible general | EdB | 241758
When we are in sin and being convicted it is usually our conscience or the Holy Spirit. If we are being tormented then it is from the adversary. |

80 | Where do threatening voices come from ? | Bible general | EdB | 241760
Jail/Prison is a reality of committing a crime. We can be forgiven by God but if tried and convicted of a crime we still must face jail. But this life is short scripture says it is like a whisp of smoke. So what is important is where we spend eternity. If we believe and trust in Jesus we will spend eternity with Him. You really need to sit down and talk to a Pastor. |
