62 | What does it mean to be "in Christ"? | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 237160
Jeff, Bless you my brother. This turns out to be a much more discussed subject than many think. Allot of Christians wonder if they are in Christ. Paul mentions in Romans 6 where he covers baptism where he talks about being baptized into Christ. This is a great description of what takes place at our Salvation and subsequent baptism. If one is a true disciple of Christ then you are in Christ. Allot simpler than even I thought. In Him, lionheart |

hooahh my brother. the first time I really understood that verse that Paul mentoins it.absolutely blew me away and it was so simple. I'd been reading In the first chapter of Cossians that tells that it's Christ in us and thats when the light went on. Bingo! If Christ is in me then I gotta be in Christ. 2 Tim 2:15 hugely applies here. this is an absolute gem. In Him, (Boy oh Boy.) lion heart |

Justme, Good day brother. Unfortunately a good study bible can get expensive. I've owned a couple of Thomson's and I'm looking at a MacArthur study bible that's outstanding and giving serious consideration to adding to my library. Both of em would be good investment's. In Him, lionheart |

Hey atdcross, Hope this day finds you well and blessed of God. I will agree with you we are all perpetrators of sin (Romans 3:23).I dont see anything that says we are victims.Do we deal with consequences of sin, ours or some one elses? Yes,every day.The consequence and result of Adam and Eve's sin was death. Its something that if the Lord tareys long enough we will all have to face. Heb 9:27. When Saul was sent out to destroy the Amalekites God told him to utterly destroy all. He didnt fully comply. We know the rest. Saul attempted to shift the blame. In a sense he may have looked like a victim. Not! He made his choice and chose to not deal with his sin. I've heard this refered to as the Saul syndrome at times.Because of what jesus Christ did there are no victims. There are those who repent Acts 2:38,1 John 1:9 and there are those who dont or wont repent. There are no victims here. I will say this we can fall victim to circumstance, even consequence totally not of our doing. But we can claim Ephesians 3:20 on a daily basis. Somtimes I think there are alot of us suffering from the Saul syndrome, myself included. We are not victims,we can repent,we can deal with our sin,we can trust God.We can trust God to help get us through lifes daily challenges.Philippians 4:13. No one has to have a victims mentality. In Christ, lionheart |

kalos, Godbless you dear brother. We seem to forget at times that all true healing is of God whether it be directly from or God working through a doctor or other healthcare professional. You named several issues that I deal with daily, but by Gods grace and divine providence he enables me to continue on with what He's called me to do. The sin is not availing ourseves of what God has so graciously suppied us. Once again thank you my brother, I needed that. In Christ, lionheart |

73 | what is the church of christ? | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 167302
gospelman, Greetings, actually it's not as deep and complicated as we make it out to be. We will inevitabely get into trouble when we pursue things along denominational lines,it never fails. But it becomes very clear and simple when Gods Word is allowed to speak for itself. Takes all the guess work out of things. 1 Corinthians 12 addresses the whole subject with great clarity and understadability. Att to vs 27. No matter what differences we may have,if we are to beleive what God tells us in His Word then we gotta know that it is totally available for us to be unified and like minded. In Christ, lionheart |

75 | Are these essentials for Salvation? | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 167576
atdcross, But there can be a diffrence regarding repentance unbeliever and beliver.Paul talks about Godly sorrow versus worldly sorrow in 2 Cor 7:9-11. One leads to salvation (life)) the other to death. Are we sorry because we got caught or do we have a godly sorrow,a broken heart for having hurt God and those I have hurt. Only then will one truly repent,Worldly sorrow is temporary at best. This is something we as beleivers need to be particularly cognisant of. We may be saved, but unless we keep a godly focus every day we can fall prey to things just as well as anyone else. I'm an alcholic, addict with 16 years clean and sober.I didnt get the sober part till I became a disciple of Jesus Christ almost eleven years ago. I'll share this with you- As a user I got drunk,I got high because I wanted too. Yes there were alot of things that influenced what I did,but the bottom line is I did this stuff because I wanted too. There was no deliverence,no salvation till I got broken about my sin (Godly sorrow.). When I had that godly sorrow thats when God could take my life to do what he has always wanted to do with it.I have not lived one milisecond to regret that descission eleven years ago. I can tell you there are more times than I can remember wher I fealt really bad about what I was doing,I would tell people that I was sorry,I would even tell God I was sorry. Those were about as low a time for me as I can think of.But it was always back to bussiness as usual. None of that ever changed till Jesus Christ became Lord and Savior of my life. So you see my brother there is a difference where the world and the believer are concerned. The believer is broken about there sin where as the unbelieving world is only sorry. No change with any permancey can take place until one comes to God with a godly sorrow. As believers this is doublely important, there is nothing in Gods Word that says we cant be in denial about our sin. When one is in denial can be as enslaved as the next person. Where we have the unsurpassing advantage that as disciples of Jesus Christ we dont have to stay in denial,we are no longer lonerangers,we have someone that empowers us to live the lives he's called us to. The unbeliever will never do that till they come to Jesus Christ with a saving faith, which goes way beyond worldly sorrow. In Christ, lionheart |

MiskyBlue, Welcome to the forum. Just to clarify some things here, 2 Timothy 3:16a- All scripture is inspired by God. (God breathed) God is the author, men wrote it 2 Peter 1:20,21. The difference in style and accounts reflect those who did the writting. So what we have is the inspired Word of God written by holy men of God. In Christ, lionheart |

Misty, Greetings dear sister. Ya did fine. Nothing to be sorry about. Oft times people will get all wound up and confused over this very subject. Men may have written the bible but God has always been the sole author and will always retain authorship. The different individuals who wrote the bible explain the different writting styles. All these things are meant to shed light on the truth of Gods Word. Thus 2 Peter 1:20,21 and 2 Timothy 2:15. No misunderstanding dear heart, you keep sharing and giving your heart and watch for the great things God will do. Even us old veterans can still learn a thing or two. In Christ, lionheart |
