61 | Jesus doesn't answer me | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 224031
MAMAMETAL, We get answers everyday one way another. The question that arises is are we listening. God doesn't ignore any of us. You say that after fifty years you finally heard from The Holy Ghost. If I may interject, If you are truly a disciple of Jesus Christ His Spirit has been with you all along. Col 1:27, Acts 2:38. What are your expectations when you pray. Consider Phil 4:19 when you are praying. God may not answer as you expect but I can guarantee you what ever the answer, It will be for His glory and your good. Ro 8:28,29. In Him, lionheart |

62 | Is God capable of sarcasm, are people 1? | Gen 3:22 | lionheart | 223955
sonofmom, There are those who might view this as sarcastic. And in the case of the scriptures you gave this was God's responce to sin. Nothing sarcastic here. I will say this though, there are numerous symbols and figures of speech employed in God's Word and also when God is quite pointed and direct. Go through all of Gen 3 and you'll see what I'm saying. Look at 2 Tim 2:15 this is a must in any study of God's Word. In Him, lionheart |

65 | Who to follow? Jesus or Moses | Matt 5:17 | lionheart | 223289
Inquisitor, I wasn't necessarily referring to you but what goes on frequently. May I refer to Ro 15:4 tells us how earlier scriptures (That would include OT and OT law) point to The Gospels and NT writtings. They in no way usurp, change or take away any thing in the Gospels or Epistles. It does shed light on what we do have today. In Him, lionheart |

66 | In the Name of the Lord (Authority) | Matt 5:17 | lionheart | 223285
Inquisitor, Good day to ya. There has been constant squabble and argument where the OT and OT law are concerned. And in large part to two words, Abolish and fulfill. Time after time we hear the statement the law has been abolished. Chapter and vers--e please. Fulfill yes, absolutely! Jesus even says so Himself. Matt 5:17,18. 2 Ti 3:16-17 tells us that all scripture is God breathed. Why would one want to minimalise or discount any part of Gods Word. We cant afford to do that. The whole of scripture is there for our benefit and instruction. It behooves us to keep our hearts and minds in it. 2 Ti 2:15. We are no longer under the law but may I suggest that there is plenty to point and guide people to Christ. In Him, lionheart |

69 | WHEN DID SIGNS AND WONDERS STOP? | Acts 2:16 | lionheart | 222408
mlongwood87, Welcome to the forum my friend. This can be a divisive issue in many different ways. You have received some very good answers from some very learned individuals. I've always been a meat and potato's kind of guy and I believe God's Word is very exacting in what it says (Keeping in mind 2 Tim 2:15 2 Pt 1:20,21) while also being broad in scope. One of the biggest mistakes Christians make today is we tend to put things in a box. And when we do that we can limit God. God's signs and wonders went beyond the gifts and still do today. We still see em in our lives everyday as we continue to walk with God. In Him, lionheart |

71 | PSALM 52 | Ps 52:2 | lionheart | 219465
cececapel, Welcome to the forum. Part of understanding Psalm 52 will be in understanding the context in which it was written. Psalm 52 gives an account of Davids flight from Saul. In the context of what is written here and how we should see it today we gotta understand that those that appose God and his people will always be trying to devise things to undermine those who want to walk with God. We see in Davids reply to all that was happening to him his trust was in God and his sovereignty. He had trust for God and his provision and stayed grateful inspite of what was happening to him. 2 Tim 3:12 is a good passage of scripture to keep in mind. When we take a stand on God's Word there will oft time be opposition. But as with David God has our back. In Him, lionheart |

Mathaytes, Welcome to the forum. My heart goes with you as you reach out to your son. This is a particularly important juncture in your sons life as he stands at the threshold of his teen years. Doc and the others have been dead on in their advice and council to you. Do sit down with your son and study out discipleship with him. What is it to be a disciple. The main thing is get into the Word with him. Let God's Word be your guide and you won't be steered wrong. In Him, lionheart |

christindestani, Welcome to the forum it's good to have you here with us. This sounds like a homework question. One of the great things about this site is that it's a place where we can come together and encourage one another and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of God and His Word. One of the greatest blessings is doing the leg work and the personal digging,it's part of what helps us to grow in God. If I' wrong tell us and I and the others will be here to help you answer these two questions. In Him, lionheart |

75 | let your light shine in dark places | Luke 5:31 | lionheart | 218733
Fallen4shell, You ask a valid question and I tend to somewhat lean your way. But in light of Jn 5:35,36 Jn 15:13 Jesus makes it very plain that as disciples of His we have a vast field of people looking for what we have and we gotta have the heart to lay our lives down for people. Our whole mission is to make disciples. Mtt 28:18-20. As we involve ourselves in the lives of people that God brings to us eventually we will get em to church. We wanna take as many folks with us as we can. In Him, lionheart |

What ever decisions you make, make em on a solid scriptural foundation. (2 Tim 2:15) Go through Galatians and Jude I think they will give you Godly perspective on this. We deal with same issues today that were being dealt with in Pauls time. Stand strong my friend. In Him, lionheart |

80 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 218199
FytRobert, God's day to you. In a case like this transparency is of the utmost importance. As Christians Paul encourages believers to give. In cases like this it's a good idea to get advice. As is stated in the OT wise council ensures success. Do you know this individual, you might ask him if he's sought advice. If not it would be a good idea to do so. Hope this helps. In Him, lionheart |
