63 | Ogran donation? | Mark 12:31 | christian7 | 95335
if the queston is "Are we supposed to" I would say I find nothing that says we are supposed to donate organs. Now if its a question of is it alright to donate organs I find no scripture to support giving any more than John 15:13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Now Paul had this to say about being preserved wholly. 1 Thessalonians5: 23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. these are the only 2 verses I can think of right now but I will continue to see if I can find more on this subject, as I do give blood to help out when I can. 64 | Why the question in John 1:25? | Luke 1:17 | christian7 | 52337
John being filled with the Holy Spirit from his birth(Luke 1:15)did not attend the schools to study under the Pharisees and they wanted to know who gave him this authority...or who he was...in the Old Testament you will find these scriptures Mal.4:5,6 refering to Elijah... Deuteronomy 18:15,18 refering to Christ or the Prophet...and please look at John 4:25...John never said that he was anything but a VOICE but Jesus said in Mat.11:11-14 that John was Elijah also please look at Luke 1:17 which shows that John was in the Spirit of Elijah or Elias which is the same as Elijah... I hope this helps you some...may God Bless you MOTHERPHILO and keep studying your doing a great job
65 | Baptism was a church ordinance? | Luke 1:17 | christian7 | 52348
the Baptism that John was doing...John being the only one who was doing this...had the religious Pharisees in an uproar because people were supposed to go to the Synagogue to have the Priest remove thier sins...John was preaching baptism for the repentance of sin (Luke 3:3) and the religious leaders wanted to know by what authority he was doing this...if you will notice MOTHERPHILO even as Jesus was praching that these leaders wanted all the attention brought to them and to no one else...anytime someone threatens thier position they get upset...but I would also like to add that when the truth is spoken that it always stops them in their tracks...I love the way that God's word says that God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble...they were just to proud...(James 4:6)... I hope this helps a litle more...God Bless you MOTHERPHILO and keep studying
66 | Is there peace on earth? | Luke 2:14 | christian7 | 106541
Mommapbs: My thought is that any other peace other than the peace that God offers to us through Jesus is a false peace. Truely when you know this peace that we are aquanted with and others reject it, the sword(word of God)divides. I really don't think that the world outside of the heavenly world that is promised to us, could possibly understand what it means to have a hope and a promise of the future we share. That's where the worlds confusion about peace lies. Just my thought. KJV Philippians 4:7 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ASV Philippians 4:7 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. God Bless |

67 | Luke 11:5-7 | Luke 11:8 | christian7 | 106530
Gil: First let me welcome you to StudyBibleForum. In answer to your question there is really no representation here. The story concludes with vs 8 and that being because of the persistance of the man, not because it is his friend but because he keeps on knocking and doesn't give up, his friend that is inside gets up and answers the door. It also goes along with the story found in Luke. KJV Luke 18:1-7 1. And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2. Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3. And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5. Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? Keep praying and asking even if you don't get an answer right away. hope this helps God Bless |

68 | I'm Back! | Luke 13:4 | christian7 | 56773
roverjbh99...welcome back...I would just like to answer the first part of your question and let the experts answer the rest as I am not up to date on The Universal Life Church...There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans'whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.2And Jesus answering said unto them,Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans'because they suffered such things?3I tell you,Nay:but, except ye repent,ye shall all likewise perish.4 Or those 18,upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?5 I tell you, Nay:but, except ye repent,ye shall all likewise perish...it is a terrible thing that happened on Sept.11...I do fell that God was manifested greatly in the love and support that was poured out and even to the point that the President of the United States stood before this Nation and Quoted scripture and the fact that our Congress joined in...for the first time in a long time our Nation was United through prayer and aide...I was set back at what happened to the people at the trade center but as I watched on and begain to see God at work behind the disaster I begain to pray for this Nation to turn back to God before it got any worse...11 months later and we are sinking back to the same divisions as before....I wish the 9 miners brought as much glory and attention to God...as it should have...but like you said Praise God for the fact that they are alive..God Bless
69 | Insufficient grace? | Luke 14:26 | christian7 | 101635
Seeking4truth: You were told correctly. It is by Jesus that we have forgiveness of sins and access to the Father. I wonder if the pastor told you about repentance, and turning away from your sins. If he didn’t I am certain that you know it by now. When we turned from our past and began a new life we needed direction. The bible tells us therefore being justified by faith; we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace witch passes all understanding must come at some cost to us. When we sin after our conversion the peace immediately feels diminished. We understand that Jesus paid the price for our sin and that by trusting in Him we will eventually make it to heaven. But there is something new in us that make us want to do the things that are pleasing to Him. God sends us His Comforter, the Holy Spirit and it leads us in this new direction. The desire to do the things that we once thought were right (our understanding being darkened) no longer feel that way. Again it is not because we can do good enough to get into heaven but for the peace to remain that we felt when we got saved we start to look at what is pleasing to Him. If you are living a certain way because of any other reason than you desire to, it is my guess that it wouldn’t have lasted long at all. So now comes the question, how can I live in a way that is pleasing to my Lord? Enter 180 degrees and start to live by what we do or don’t do. Did I mention that we were bought with a price? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that makes us want to live different than we lived before and if we don’t have that desire living inside of us we need to check our salvation. Is He powerless to keep us clean and pure before God after we become saved? No He is not powerless at all, oh that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. God Bless |

70 | How God feels about praise | John 4:24 | christian7 | 71261
Hi Seeking God: KJV Psalms 22:3 3. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. God inhabits our Praise. There is no greater felt response that I know of then when we Praise Him. JV 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 13. It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; 14. So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. Now that is a visit I would love to have. God Bless |

72 | Caiaphas's prophecy misinterpreted? | John 11:51 | christian7 | 103160
Nolan: I don't believe that the prophecy was a misinterpretation. I find it to be a fullfilling prophecy. Jesus knowing His hour was at hand had to set things in order for the fullfillment to come to pass. Surely the high priest knew the scriptures and was, as many before hand had been, ready for the One that might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad." It almost seems as if Caiaphas knows what its going to take for this to come to pass as he felt it was expedient. And yes it is very interesting to note that the 'high priest' (Caiaphas) was sentencing the Ultimate High Priest (Hebrews 5:9,10) to death. KJV Isaiah 49:6 6. And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth KJV John 10:16-18 16. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 17. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. KJV Ephesians 2:14-17 14. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17. And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. Its my belief that God used Caiaphas in the same way He used Pharaoh. To accomplish His divine plan for us all. God Bless |

73 | Would a gentle spirit work? | John 12:32 | christian7 | 103884
Aixen7z4: Truly a kind gentle spirit will go a lot further than one that is not. It is my blessing from God to have received a verse in one way only to come to this forum and have it revealed in context. Words have different meanings and when taken into context a verse makes God's message clear and easier to minister. Take the thread in this discussion for and example. There are ways we can take a scripture received from God and run away with it. Jehovah witnesses are famous for this and some other cults also. But I don’t want to get into all that right now. Now even though when we "lift up" the name of Jesus, we are not actually "lifting Him up". To wit, scripture must be taken as a whole. I have misunderstood a lot of scriptures by not taking it in context. You know the preceding verses and following verses. When I came to the Forum it was simply put into context for me. I didn't like it at first as I thought it should remain the way I received it from the Lord. But the bible does teach us to rightly divide the word. As many others that come here with a preconceived view to a certain scripture, when our view is smashed, from being what we thought it was there is an offence taken. Now the question in our pea brain is “am I going to let this person change what the Lord has given me in my spirit"? A red flag automatically goes up because someone is changing what we received as scripture from God. But when we put our flag down and look at what is being said to us is in clear teaching we should rejoice at the new understanding that the Lord has revealed to us. It is my opinion and a proven fact on this forum that when ones view is challenged that the overwriting factor is what scripture really says, in its context, and received as such. When this occurs there is an understanding and all are edified. When this doesn’t happen someone is offended and threads run on and on till they are restricted. Usually it is the latter of the two. The bottom line here is someone is usually trying to make you see it their way and if you don’t then you’re not as smart as you think. It’s my observation that if you are coming here with an agenda or trying to force your opinion to others its best to stay off. Otherwise someone will eventually have you removed. There is room for those who are weak as I am one of the weakest. I have learned very much through this forum and find it a great place to come if and I stress if you are willing to learn. God Bless |

74 | Do you recall the day of your Salvation | John 12:32 | christian7 | 103887
Kathy: 5 years 11 months and 16 days ago. It was New Years Eve and my favorite night to party. A friend of mine had invited me to a night watch service a couple of weeks beforehand. I asked him what that was and he said bringing in the new year with the Lord. I thought to myself, I didn't know churches did that. My answer was I might. I shared it with my wife who was already a christian and she got excited and I said we might, no promises. Well to make a long story short(I am from the south) the Lord started dealing with my spirit over those two weeks. Sleepless nights, heart pounding harder, I could feel His presents. Well I figured why not and agreed to go only to find the devil wanting me not to go even worse. As I got off from work I stopped by the VFW to shoot some pool and drink a couple before I went home to get ready. Well one led to another, I mean it was New Years Eve and all and before I knew it, it was 11pm. I got in a hurry to get home and stopped by the store to get some gas and ran into an old friend who insisted I come by his party before midnight. Couldn't say no. After leaving the party I finally got home around 12:15 only to find everyone in bed. Not on my watch, we dont go to bed its time to celebrate. One thing led to another and I left in a rage to go to another party. God had other plans traveling about 85mph I came up on a curve I couldn't make. My car flipped crashing into a pine tree and my life passed before me. I have no need to lie. The bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. All I can say for sure is there was a presents not a vission. Ashamed that I should have gone to the nightwatch service, instead of the parties, ashamed for the father that I had been, ashamed for the husband I was, ashamed of how selfish I had been, ashamed, ashamed, ashamed. I began to cry out. And cry. Please God,Please God, Please God, JUST ONE MORE CHANCE. You see Kathy for some of us we have to die to die. God breathed into my nostrils life and I gave it back to Him through my Lord Jesus. I have never looked back since that night. I have never stopped praising Him. He has made my life so wonderful. Through Him I am a better dad, husband, brother, and friend. Words can not say how much He means to me or how much He has done in my life. Do I remember the day that He saved me. Oh yes I sure do. God Bless |

77 | Rev. 10 v1 who is the mighty angel ? | John 21:14 | christian7 | 104144
Part1 maribeth: Verse 1. And I saw another mighty angel,.... Not any mere man, as Justin the emperor, as some have thought, who sent letters abroad in favour of the orthodox doctrine, against the Arians, which they suppose is meant by the little book open in his right hand; and still less the pope of Rome, whether in the sense of Papists or Protestants, which latter represent him as a tyrant, treading upon men both in the islands and in the continent, and holding forth the book of canons and decrees; rather, as Mr. Daubuz thinks, Luther, with the rest of the reformers, is intended, and especially since the prophecy of this chapter respects the Reformation, which began before the end of the sixth trumpet; and the epithets given to this angel may denote his strength and courage, his divine authority, the protection of him, and the clear doctrine of peace and reconciliation he brought: however, a created angel is not intended: not the angel that made proclamation for the opening of the book, and unsealing it, Revelation 5:2; between which, and having the book in his right hand open, is a wide difference; nor any other, though the epithet "mighty" belongs to angels in common; and though this angel swears by the living God; and though it was an angel by whom Christ signified the things contained in this book to John; but the uncreated Angel, the Lord Jesus Christ, seems rather designed, as appears both by comparing this with Daniel 12:7; and from the power lie gave to the two witnesses, Revelation 11:3; which cannot agree with a created angel; and besides, who so proper to hold the book open as he who unloosed the seals, and opened it, and to whom the epithet "mighty" may be applied in the highest sense, as God; and who as man may be said to swear by the living God, and to whom the whole description well agrees? he is sometimes called an Angel simply, Genesis 48:16; sometimes the Angel of the Lord, and who appears to be Jehovah himself, the second Person, Genesis 16:7, compared with Genesis 19:1; and sometimes the Angel of God's presence, Isaiah 63:9; and the Angel of the great council in the Septuagint on Isaiah 9:6; and the Angel, or messenger, of the covenant, Malachi 3:1; and may be so called, because he is a messenger from God as man and Mediator, being sent by him to declare his will and redeem his people: and he is a "mighty" one; not only as God, being the mighty God, the Almighty, which appears by his creation of all things, and upholding them in their beings; but as Mediator, having all power in heaven and in earth, and being far above all principality, power, and might; and, as man, made strong by God for himself, and for his people: he appears now as "another" angel, distinct from the seven angels who had trumpets given them to sound, and six of which had already sounded; and particularly from the angel of the sixth trumpet, who had just sounded; though some copies, and the Complutensian edition, leave out the word allon, "another"; and very opportunely does he appear for the comfort of his church, when the trumpets that had been blown had brought such desolations upon the empire, western and eastern, and when both the western and eastern antichrists had appeared, and before the seventh trumpet sounds, and brings in the last and greatest woe: and he is said to |

78 | name/date of 1st church establ in U.S. | Acts 8:1 | christian7 | 102909
harpin4Jesus: We can follow the Church that started in Jerusalem in 33A.D.and spread from there abroad beginning in the book of Acts chapter 8.in 38 A.D. 1. And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Now the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell in the upper room was dated around 33 A.D. This was the start of thousands commiting their lives to Christ Jesus. Acts 8 is dated around 38 A.D. I hope this helps. You will enjoy following the Church from here to where we are today. God Bless |

And "FINDING DISCIPLES", we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem. 5. And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed. 80 | When does newness of life start? | Rom 6:4 | christian7 | 56096
The Bible is Right...the momment that we give our life to Jesus we start a new life...its called the new birth as in John 3 when we are born of the spirit...2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ,he is a new creature:old things are passed away;behold, all things are become new...you may look like the same person on the outside but the minute that you recieve Jesus as your Savior your newness of life starts...consider that person dead is what the Lord is telling us...the new life that we live is for the Lord...our past life is not who we are anymore...we are to be dead to sins...before our salvation we were alive in sin, living anyway the devil wanted us to...God forbid we should live like that in our new life(Romans 6:2)...just a little testamony in that I hate the person I was before Jesus saved me...when I recieved Jesus I was glad that person died...soon after I got Baptized, and have been going full blast since then...Thank the Lord for the new life...when does it start...the minute you ask Jesus to come into your heart...God Bless
