I bet you hit question instead of note again. :) I think you're right in what your saying. It's like my pastor was saying is that God has a good plan for our life, we just choose not to follow it. Then we can repent then God will have plan B, C, D, etc. as many as needed to get us back on track, even if we did mess up the original plan. :) Look at all our lives, I'm sure there's not one of us that haven't made mistakes we wished we hadn't of made, said, if only I did that instead. But God continues blessing us and we mess up, we can't undo the mistake, but He will put us on a new path and He'll keep on doing it no matter how many times we mess up. Even Judas Iscariot could have been forgiven if he repented. |

65 | What about those who have never heard? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 19786
I got this from Pat Robertson's book Q/A's Q How can God send people who never heard of Christ to hell? A God does not send people to hell because they have never heard of Christ. He sends people to hell because they sinned. The judgment for sin will be in relationship to how much they knew. To phrase it another way, it is action in light of privledge. A person living in America has maximum spiritual privledge. Therefore the spiritual standard for America would be the gospel of Jesus and everything in the Old and New Testaments. But someone who grew up in an uncivilized jungle might be held to account for the fact that something in his conscience told him there was a creator worthy of his worship. The Bible says that his conscience will either accuse him or excuse him on the day of Jesus Christ. (Rom 2:14-16) God is not going to comdemn people if their own consciences excuse them. Regretfully, every human being has sinned against his or her own conscience. God does not judge people for failure to believe in Jesus but because they are sinners. The problem is that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Rom 3:23) For those who have received Jesus Christ as Savior, there will be forgiveness and mercy. |

66 | An Arminian Consensus in the Forum? | 1 John 2:2 | Norrie | 19295
I never heard of Calvin/Armenian before I got on this forum, but are you asking true/false questions here? * Christ's death PROVIDES forgiveness for all men. (I don't have it, but I can get it, if I want it. It's there for the asking.) TRUE * Christ's death RESULTS in the forgivenss of all men. (All have the forgiveness of sin.) TRUE * Christ's death results in the forgiveness of every man of all sins except one. (Christ didn't die for that one sin.) FALSE *Christ's death results in the forgiveness of all men, but they will still go to hell if they don't believe in Christ. (This makes forgiveness of no value. I'm forgiven but going to hell for not accepting Christ.) TRUE |

rest of the story: "There's a fear factor among preachers," says Marcussen, on why churches don't have their members look into this issue. "They're afraid their sheep will start reading the Bible, and they know they'll lose their sheep." One expert who has spent his career researching and explaining the Sabbath debate is Dr. Samuele Bacchiocchi, a retired theology professor at Andrews University in Michigan. He tells WorldNetDaily two factors are responsible for the shift from one day to another: "Anti-Judaism caused the abandonment of the Sabbath, and pagan sun worship influenced the adoption of Sunday." Bacchiocchi says the Church of Rome, which grew into the Roman Catholic Church, had great influence in promoting Sunday observance. "The Church of the capital of the empire, whose authority was already felt far and wide in the second century, appears to be the most likely birth-place of Sunday observance," he writes in his book, "From Sabbath to Sunday: A historical investigation of the rise of Sunday observance in early Christianity." In May 1998, Pope John Paul II issued an apostolic letter on the subject, entitled Dies Domini (The Lord's Day). In it, the pontiff refers to the origins of Sunday-keeping. "In the weekly reckoning of time, Sunday recalls the day of Christ's Resurrection," writes the pope. "It is Easter which returns week by week, celebrating Christ's victory over sin and death, the fulfillment in him of the first creation and the dawn of 'the new creation.'" The pontiff goes on to state that though Sunday has become a time for cultural, political and sporting events, it has a significance that shouldn't be ignored. "Unfortunately, when Sunday loses its fundamental meaning and becomes merely part of a 'weekend,' it can happen that people stay locked within a horizon so limited that they can no longer see 'the heavens.'" Though Protestant churches have some significant differences with Catholicism, one thing often agreed on today is Sunday observance. "The church always met on Sunday throughout the New Testament," says Dr. Jerry Falwell, chancellor of Liberty University in Virginia. "Saturday is clearly the Sabbath as is recorded many times in the Old Testament. In Christian Church tradition, Sunday became 'the Lord's Day' when Jesus rose from the grave." The actual times of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection are not universally agreed on either. "I personally believe he was crucified on Wednesday evening ... and rose after 6 p.m. Saturday evening," Falwell tells WorldNetDaily. "Others believe he died on Friday ... But the point is, he did rise on Sunday, which, in Jewish tradition, started the evening before at 6 p.m." Falwell is among those who believe which day is chosen is not of great significance. "I don't think Saturday or Sunday are more sacred than other days," he says. He also points out there have been so many calendar changes over the years, chronologists are not even certain that a day of the week in the 21st century matches the same day from centuries ago. Most scholars agree that biblical references to "the sabbath day" denote the seventh day of the week. But in the years to come after Jesus rose, the first day of the week came into competition with Saturday, and at times both days were being observed side by side. The ostensible church was divided on the issue, choosing different days to regard as holy. "It may be that Sunday was originally one of the [pagan] Roman festival days," explains Professor Efird at Duke, "but so were several others that the church adopted in its evolution, [for example:] Christmas." Marcussen condemns the change in day of observance. "It's the greatest hoax of all time, foisted upon the world for hundreds and hundreds of years," he says. His zeal on the matter reflects his belief that citizens of the United States and other countries will be forced to choose sides on the issue in the so-called "end time" mentioned in Scripture. "Sunday worship is the mark of the Papacy's authority," Marcussen writes in his book. "Sunday worship is the 'mark of the beast!'" Yet he insists he is not attacking anyone's faith, but rather trying to lead people to the Bible, Jesus, and eventually Heaven. "I love all these ministers who teach falsehoods," Marcussen says. "Many are honest - they're not all crooks - they believe Sunday is God's day ... this offer will help them find the truth." Marcussen expects his challenge to be eye-opening for many who never thought about the issue, and he thinks it will spark serious global attention. "The impact of this is going to be like an atomic bomb, it will mushroom all over the world." Editor's note: Marcussen is accepting regular mail from those seeking to claim the reward at: PO Box 68, Thompsonville, IL 62890 |

71 | A husband's responsibility | 1 Tim 5:8 | Norrie | 18698
I've always thought the Prov woman was the wife of a rich man, maybe the lord of the manor so to speak. She is just being a wise steward of her husband's money and goods, that's what a wife should do. How is she supposed to tend to all the things of the home if she works outside the home? Remember even back in the old south and I guess other rich people, the woman was trained for marriage by preparing her to run the household, she had to know how to handle the servants, throw the right kind of parties, basically see that everything ran smooth. The husbands did all the providing back then, it was unthinkable for a woman to work outside the home. This guy doesn't sound all there or just a bum who shirks responsibility!

74 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18134
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're thinking. I believe that we are spirit, soul and body. Your spirit is what needs to be reborn, I'm not sure whether "dead" means just not alive in Christ or dead to Christ but will still live in hell, probably. When are spirit is reborn to Christ, then we need to constantly go thru the process of lining our soul (mind, will and emotions) and body up w/our spirit. But I would imagine that a dead spirit will still suffer the pangs of hell, wouldn't you?

I listened to Copeland since 1980 almost exclusively, ever since I got saved. Then I started branching out to listening to anybody affiliated w/him. I've been to Believers Conventions, experienced miracles, owned so many tapes that it was almost impossible to store them, was giving them to people all the time just so they'd get the Word. When I first heard that Copeland was wrong from someone I respected, it shocked me. Then it seemed that everywhere I turned was someone telling me he was wrong. I listened to him for 18 yrs! I practically taped every show he had on, got the Voice of Victory, was receiving the publications from Jerry, Jesse, Joyce, Creflo, Hagin...bought tapes from most of them. I even went to Creflo's church because Copeland and Roberts were going to be there, I fully expected a healing and it didn't happen, in fact I had a set back. I knew it wasn't lack of faith because I was ready. Then it was after this I started hearing about fallacy from them. I sure did NOT want to hear that, but when enough witnesses start telling you, you have to really start examining to find out the truth. Now I've quit all of them. I admit there was some good there, but I've read that the percentage w/apostates is 95 percent truth and 5 percent apostasy, that way you can swallow the apostacy easier, if it was blatant, you'd never believe it. I bet if I scrounged around, I could prob find the tape where it talks about God gave man dominion and Adam gave it to Satan when he sinned. Then God was locked out of the earth. He couldn't make a new man because now it belonged to Satan, Adam gave it to him and God's honorable, He won't go back on His Word. So He had to find a man to speak His Word, get His Word back in, that's why it took so long to get Jesus in. I used to preach this on other forums trying to explain things to unbelievers. I was also in constant contact w/these ministries, sending money, calling for prayer, they'd even send me free tapes when I had a particular problem, I never would have dreamed anything they said was wrong. My daughter was born after a blanket prayer at the '91 Anaheim Convention. Copeland said in 9 mos, I expect to get some baby announcements, before the year was up, I sent him one. It's amazing what had to go on in my life to force me to take a good, long look. But God finally got my attention. Just be openminded, maybe that's why you're here, to find out the truth. :) This site really needs to lift the ban on symbols, it is a big pain!!! |
