81 | Unlawful to pick the heads of grain? | Mark 2:24 | Norrie | 16906
I heard my pastor preach on this one time. Seems it was just one of those man made rules the Pharisees were so famous for making, kinda like the one where you can't spit on the soil on the sabbath because that would be irrigation but you can spit on a rock. He had a list of ridiculous rules but I forget most of them. :)
82 | 'Conscientious Objection' Biblical? | Ex 20:13 | Norrie | 16162
I agree! | ||||||
83 | Should we be using company computers? | Ex 20:15 | Norrie | 15285
I guess it would ok on breaks and lunch time. :) But someone shouldn't be neglecting their jobs for it-might end up getting fired. Besides, it wouldn't be right.
84 | Are the poor expected to repay debt? | Prov 19:17 | Norrie | 14378
I would say that anybody who borrows money should pay it back. But when you lend to someone who is obviously poor, chances are they will not be able to pay you back. A good rule is never lend anybody more than what you are willing to give them because you will prob end up giving it whether you want to or not-been there, done that! :)
85 | I need help on concentrating. | Rev 22:18 | Norrie | 13854
Funny you should ask, I just about asked the same question not too long ago. I have no problems listening to tapes and can easily follow a sermon in my Bible but to actually read it is hard for me to do. I would suggest finding a easy translation to read to get into it, stick to the gospels and acts, the best book I like to look at in OT is proverbs, psalms still mostly goes over my head. When I hear a sermon preached on one, I think that makes sense but to read it on my own, I get nada. I've been recommended to read The Good News Bible or TEV (Today's English Version), I wonder if the CBN book The Book is good-probably. I have an older version and I can read that pretty easily. After you conquer the easier ones to read, then maybe you can get a harder version, like KJV, but I wouldn't recommend that for starters. :)
86 | Does this verse refer to purgatory? | 2 Pet 2:9 | Norrie | 13824
It refers to hell. Think of hell as jail and Lake of Fire as prison, you go to jail before you go to prison. :)
87 | A few more things? | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 13623
I got this off of drdino.com http://www.drdino.com/FAQs/FAQbible1.jsp A: When I was a new Christian, someone showed me the apparent contradictions between the creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. According to Genesis 1, God made the trees on day three, the birds from water on day five, and the animals on day six, all before man. But Genesis 2 records the creation of trees, animals, and birds from dirt on day six, all after man. This apparent contradiction disappears when one reads in Genesis 2 that the events in that chapter describe the events regarding the creation of the items in the Garden of Eden only. God knew Satan could come and say he had created all things if Adam did not actually witness God’s creative power. God made Adam on the sixth day, put him in the garden, made some trees to grow before Adam, then made 1 more of each of the animals so that Adam could name them and select a wife. The rest of the world was already full of plants and animals from earlier in the week. It's not in the scriptures but it made sense anyway, more than having someone say the Bible has things wrong. |

88 | Chronology of creation? | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 13612
I read that after God created Adam, He then created a few more things on day 6 to show Adam that He created them. That's why there's a difference in order between Gen 1 and 2.

90 | How can the rich be in misery? | James 5:1 | Norrie | 12881
Usually (not always), the rich person worships msmmon, that is their god. They are the ones that oppress the poor and do all the ther bad things, trying to get richer. Remember, money does not buy happiness or health either. |

91 | Are there exceptions to submitting? | Rom 13:1 | Norrie | 12880
Steve, do you see how many questions you can think up every day? Are you having a quota to make daily? Of course you go against the govt if they make decisions against the will of God! If the govt told you to worship a false God (like w/Daniel) you wouldn't do it. If the govt was killing people (like Nazis, etc) you'd go against that. If you were forced to take a mark (future) you wouldn't do that. Even saying abortion is legal doesn't make it right with God. Is this enough? |

96 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | Norrie | 11224
Do All Things Work Together For Good? Yes! How do we know? Because God said so. Also remember His ways are higher than our ways, we can't understand the whole picture. What you presented looks like bad cases but what good comes in the long run? Haven't you received any of them emails about kids dying of cancer or whatever that made you cry with the beautiful story about it? OK, let's get personal. I used to be a piping designer, made big bucks, traveled around, loved my job. Only thing is now I'm married w/daughter, I'd leave town on a contract and Mama would be raising my daughter instead of me. Then NY eve '98 I was rollerblading w/my daughter, fell and broke my arm. Figured 6-8 wks in a cast, then back to normal, right-wrong! I went to the hosp for surgery, was supposed to be an out patient, instead got out 12 days and 5 surgies later. So far I had 12 surgeries, now I only have one bone in my forearm, can't use my right hand (used to be right handed before this), my elbow only bends 90 degrees, I am severely limited on what I can do any more-can't even open a can. :) But, as a result, I can't work any more so I'm not making the big bucks doing the job I loved, but I do get disability, I get to be a stay at home mom, I get to hang online and meet all kinds of people online and maybe even help spread the Word, so God took a bad thing and turned it to good-see? :) Besides, I had so many miracles happen to me during this period that showed me how faithful God was! I met so many nice people I wouldn't have met too, it has turned into a blessing in disguise. The thing you have to do is no matter what, keep praising the Lord! I imagine if I would have gotten bitter over what happened and blamed God and griped and complained, I wouldn't be in as good a position as I am now, attitude is everything. If you have a bad attitude, expect bad things, if you have a good attitude, expect good things. Everybody will get a trial, it just depends on how you handle the trial as to what the outcome will be. Remember, no matter what-rejoice! |

97 | Created for heaven or hell? | John 3:16 | Norrie | 11168
I know the answer to this! I just asked this, look up Calvinism which holds that view and Arminian which is opposite view under search. You can get views from both sides. I personally believe John 3:16 and the World is all, not a prechosen few. :)
98 | jesus is man | John 10:29 | Norrie | 11165
Isa, this will be something to comtemplate, you'll have to use your imagination, I heard a sermon preached on this on how it could be. Remember what I said about the Trinity? There is one God, a Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Heart of God is the Father; the face of the Father is unveiled by the Son/Word; the Voice of God is heard thru the Holy Spirit. Suppose before God created man, He and Jesus are together and God says I really want to make man, Jesus says but he'll fall, he will have to be redeemed, God says I know, but I really want to make man, Jesus says, OK, if you really want this, then let's do it, I'll pay the price. Jesus is/was/always will be God, He is part of the Trinity. He left His home in Heaven to come to earth as a mere man in order to pay the sin penalty for us because no man would be able to pay that price because a man would have to be sinless and that is impossible for man. So God the Son took on being a man to pay the price for our sin, He had no sin, He did this entirely for us! I know it's a hard concept to grasp, that God would become man for us, but He did! He was still God the Son, he just took on human body for us. I guess if anything, you might could say He left His divinity to become man, then He gained His divinity back when He rose from the death, when He defeated death, hell and the grave. Remember, this was the plan from the beginning of time, but there was no guarantee it would work, but it did, Satan was defeated and Jesus is Lord of all!!! |

99 | Where have all the dead prophets gone? | Luke 16:19 | Norrie | 11115
Jesus is the only one in Heaven with a glorified body, everybody else is in Heaven spiritually, that is their spirts are there, even the OT prophets and believers. Remember the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus? The dead were either resting in hell or Abraham's Bosum. The one's in Abraham's Bosum went to Heaven after Jesus paid the price.
100 | What fruit did Eve eat from the tree? | Gen 3:1 | Norrie | 11090
It does not say in the Bible that Eve ate an apple, that is a story that was made up a long time ago and some choose to believe as fact regardless, like when you die, you turn into an angel and hang on a cloud and play a harp. It's just bunk. The Bible doesn't give the name of the fruit.
