61 | A prophet | Jeremiah | azurelaw | 196049
Jeremiah 18:18, 26:8 Jeremiah was being persecuted by many and even at edge of death for his prophesying which the people claimed as false. I want to know what was the status of a prophet at the time of Jeremiah's. In Ch 27 v1-15, what Jeremiah said appeared to show him a betrayer (base on a national perspective). It is interesting to see those priests and other prophets did not charge Jeremiah for his betrayal discourse, but false prophesying. Your input and enlightenment is appreciated. Shalom Azure |

63 | verse on sabbatical year | Jer 34:8 | azurelaw | 197449
Was it the sabbatical year when Zedekiah made the covenant to set free the slaves (Exo 21:2, Deu 15:12)? If so, where in the book of Jeremiah can I find that relevant verse? It seems quite obvious that it was the sabbatical year as per God's rebuking them in verse 14-15. However, I still hope to locate that relevant verse if possible. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

64 | Philistines still survive today | Jer 47:4 | azurelaw | 198964
A question was asked by a youngster in my cell group : Are there any Philistines still survive today? I am not good at history. However, from the above scripture, does it mean that Philistines no long exist nowadays or that scriptures speaks only with the limitation in that historical and geographical aspect as recorded? 65 | God's decree on His elects - oppression | Jer 50:33 | azurelaw | 199446
"...all who took them captive have held them fast..." Shall I understand it as on one hand, the Israelites and the Jews encountered oppression from ALL (first the Egyptians, then the Babylonians....the Nazis) for the reason that they are God's people; while on the other hand, all believers (in a broader sense of God's elect) shall also encounter persecution from many as what Jesus has taught beforehand. Therefore, the key is not the oppressors but the Elects (all believers) are not of the world? Hope I have explained myself clear. Shalom Azure |

66 | vision or physical or both | Ezek 3:14 | azurelaw | 200633
If I understand it correctly, Ezek 3:14 is not a leading verse to v15. Verse 14 was describing a spiritual expereience of Ezekiel taken up in a vision where as after his such experience/vision, he went to sit beside the river Chebar at Tel-ab for 7 days in grieves. or (to my understanding, it is unlikely so) the Spirit lifted him up and took him away to sit beside the river Chebar at Tel-ab for 7 days in grieves? Thank you in advance for helping me to understand better. Shalom Azure |

67 | meaning of glory | Ezek 20:6 | azurelaw | 201653
Does the word "glory" only attribute to material provision since the Canaanites and the people in the area were idol worshippers and practiced all kinds of wickedness thus God had asked the Israelite to destroy them and not to follow their deeds in the time of Joshua's. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

68 | Where were the bones placed | Ezek 24:5 | azurelaw | 202071
Take the choice of the flock. Also pile FUEL BONES under it, Make it boil well, And let the cuts simmer in it.” (New King James Version) Take the choicest one of the flock; pile the LOGS under it; boil it well; seethe also its bones in it. (ESV) take the pick of the flock. Pile WOOD beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it. (NIV) Take the choicest of the flock, And also pile WOOD under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also seethe its bones in it." (NASB) Take the choicest of the flock and burn also the UNUSED BONES under it, and make it boil well and seethe its bones in [the pot]. (Amp) Where were the bones actually placed, beneath the flesh inside the pot or used as fuel under the pot? V10 looks like to me that the bones were put inside the pot but beneath the flesh. So, which translation is more acceptalbe? Thanks and Shalom Azure |

69 | properly understanding books of prophets | Ezek 32:12 | azurelaw | 202858
"...ALL its hordes will be destroyed." It was unlikely that ALL were destroyed. Is it only an exaggerated expression on God's determined will of punishment on Egypt? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

73 | Conditional organs donation | Matt 7:12 | azurelaw | 188947
We had once discussed about organs donation in a cell group gathering. One or two of us expressed that they would limit their donations to those patients who were not smokers, drugs users, drunkards, etc. Should christians limit the donation with those conditions? Any biblical view on that? Thanks. Shalom Azure |

76 | How? | Mark | azurelaw | 197482
Repost post number 2120 : Is the command to "LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH" in Mark 12:29-34 and elsewhere something that we, as Christians indwelt by the Holy Spirit can attain with God's enablement in this life, or is this merely an impossible command designed to humble us in our sinfulness? I find the above old post when I google around. I feel it interesting and worth our pondering again and would like to have some more inputs. Shalom Azure |

77 | Why related it to the feeding of 5000 | Mark 6:52 | azurelaw | 220341
Why did Mark specifically make this remark "for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves...". How significant was the miracle of the incident of the loaves in assocation with their situation on the sea when they saw Jesus walking on it and later on the sea calmed after He was onboard. Similar situation happened before (Mark 4:35-41). Why did Mark not associate this incident (Mark 6:45-52) with Mark 4:35-41, but recalled the feeding of 5000 instead. P.S. I understand the disciples were hard hearted. My point is just not understanding why Mark (John) made such association with the incidents. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

78 | "him" refers to which one? | Mark 9:42 | azurelaw | 219175
Sorry, I should have posted it as a question. "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea...." "him" refers to "one of these little ones" or "whoever"? I've heard both explanations. But which should be correct according to the kione Greek grammar? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

79 | perfect? or good? | Mark 10:18 | azurelaw | 203417
In the chapters of God's creation, there is not a single word of "perfect" but just God commented what He created was good. Was man made with perfection? I completely believe that God CAN create anything with perfection, but might He (for some reasons) create man beyond perfect even though sin did not enter the world when Adam was created? Thank you for your enlightenment. Shalom Azure |
