62 | Distinguishing accents in Jewish tribes? | Judg 12:6 | Makarios | 9473
Was this accent obvious in only the Ephraimite tribe or did the other Israelite tribes also have accents in their speech? If so, when did these accents arise in the history of the Israelites? It is obvious in Judges 12:5-6 that the tribe of Ephraim shared a distinguishing characteristic amongst their brothers in how they enunciated their words, or at least the word "Shibboleth." Also, what does the word 'Shibboleth' mean?

64 | Why doesn't Saul know David? | 1 Sam 16:19 | Makarios | 9179
When Saul meets David at the time that David kills Goliath (1 Sam. 17) why doesn't he already know him (1 Sam. 16:19-23) and if David was living with Saul (1 Sam. 16:19-23) then why was he living with Jesse in the very next few verses (1 Sam. 17:1ff)?

Did Saul kill himself (1 Sam. 31) or was he killed by another (2 Sam. 1:10)? If he was killed by another, was that person Saul's armor bearer (1 Sam. 31) or someone Saul did not know (2 Sam. 1:7-8)? |

68 | Did King David know about Absalom? | 2 Sam 18:14 | Makarios | 157748
Greetings Michael Draves! Yes, I checked in 1 Kings 2:5-6 and could not find Absalom listed among those whom David lists for wanting Joab dealt with. So, would I be correct in assuming that David never knew that Joab killed Absalom? |

71 | Six fingered man today? | 2 Sam 21:20 | Makarios | 5588
In 2 Samuel 21:20-21 and in 1 Chronicles 20:6-7, we are introduced to a descendant of the giant or Rephaim who had six fingers and toes, twenty four fingers and toes in all! Was this just a physical anomaly of the giants or has this anomaly occurred to other people?

73 | The city that bears God's name? | 1 Kin 11:36 | Makarios | 14823
What does this verse mean by saying "Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name."?? If the Lord has chosen Jerusalem to put His Name there, then does this make it obvious why the nations of the Middle East are fighting Israel for the "Promised Land", since satan wants his name there also, because the Lord has especially chosen Jerusalem? Beyond that, I can find no other reason for so much fighting over such a small piece of land that is no bigger than St. Joseph County (the County that I live in).. Any thoughts?
74 | Why is Elijah hidden so suddenly? | 1 Kin 17:3 | Makarios | 9527
Why did God send Elijah into solitude so suddenly?
75 | Why did Jehoshaphat join Ahab? | 1 Kin 22:29 | Makarios | 8163
Why did Jehoshaphat join Ahab? Since Jehoshaphat king of Judah is described as a 'good' king (2 Chr. chapters 17-10) and following the example of King David, why does he proceed to join wicked King Ahab against the Arameans in this verse in spite of Micaiah's testimony (1 Kings 22:17, 19-23) against it? It turns out that only by divine intervention that Jehoshaphat was saved (1 Kings 22:32; 2 Chr. 18:31) during the battle. Did he join him because of a feeling of brotherhood (1 Kings 22:4)? |

79 | "Jews" only referring to Judah? | 2 Kin 16:6 | Makarios | 13542
This verse is interesting... Notice carefully: The House of Judah now including the tribe of Benjamin under King Rehoboam of David's dynasty, was about to fight against the other ten tribes, headed by Ephraim and Manasseh, a different and separate nation. I am led to believe that the term "Jew" is merely a late name for "Judah." It applies to the one nation, or House of Judah only, never to the House of Israel. Am I correct? The first place in the entire Bible where the word "Jew" is used is in II Kings 16:6 (Amplified, KJV). Ahaz began to reign as king of Judah (verse 1). He sat on David's throne (verse 2). At this time, a man named Pekah was king of Israel. With King Rezin of Syria as an ally, this king of Israel came against Jerusalem in war, and besieged King Ahaz of Judah, but could not overcome him (verse 5). "At that time, Rezin, king of Syria "the ally of Israel, fighting with Israel, against Judah" recovered Elath to Syria and drove the Jews from Elath" (verse 6). The first place in the Bible where the word "Jew" is used, we find Israel at war against the Jews. Israel's ally, Syria, drove the Jews out of the town of Elath.. Does this prove that the Jews are a different nation altogether from the House of Israel? If so, then the Jews of today are Judah. They call their nation "Israel" today because they, too, descend from the patriarch Israel or Jacob. But remember that the "House of Israel"-the ten tribes that separated from Judah-does not mean Jew. So the lost ten tribes of Israel are not Jews? So the name "House of Israel," or "Samaria," or "Ephraim," is never referring to the Jews, but to the ten tribes of the House of Israel, who were at war against the Jews? For many generations Israel and Judah continued to practice idolatry. Israel was the only nation that kept it. Because they rejected this sign, I am led to believe that they were driven out, and lost their identity. (Ezekiel 20:10-24.) So just who are the descendants of these 10 other tribes? God promised Abraham: "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect, and I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly... thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have i made thee" (Gen. 17:1-5 KJV). Any suggestions? |

80 | Did Hezekiah make the right choice? | 2 Kin 20:3 | Makarios | 4088
Did Hezekiah really make the right decision in 2 Kings 20:3 by pleading for his life instead of putting his life in God's hands? During the fifteen years (the time that God gave him because of his plea) he made a mistake by showing all his treasure to Babylonian envoys (2 Kings 20:12-19) and his twelve year old son Manasseh (an evil king) became king of Judah in his place..
