61 | What about human cloning? | Gen 2:7 | Hank | 2749
We hear more and more about cloning. It's already happened in the animal world. Will human cloning be next? How would this impact the Christian community? Should human cloning be encouraged? Legalized? Would a human clone have a soul and spirit? What is your sense of what the Bible may or may not say, explicitly or implicitly, about human cloning? Do you think this is a vital issue for Christians to become involved in?What say ye all?
62 | Country Girl: Scripture...or Opinion? | Gen 2:9 | Hank | 126106
Country Girl: There are five paragraphs in your post #126082 and an equal number of opinions: 2 each of "I believe," 2 of "in my opinion," and 1 of "I do not believe." One verse of Scripture is cited, which does not support the opinions. Having given five opinions of your own, you conclude your post by asking Bruce7, "What do you think?" -- apparently thus encouraging him to speculate too. ...... In consideration of this being a Bible study Forum, is it not more appropriate to preface or footnote Christian doctrinal statements with "Thus says the Lord" scriptural references instead of something so empty and worthless as "In my opinion"? ..... Scripture never prizes human opinion, but it does say that "All Scripture (note: it says ALL SCRIPTURE; it does not say, ALL OPINION) is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16). .......By and large, users of this Forum can be divided into two groups, they being those who are careful to document their posts with Scripture and those who view their opinions so highly that apparently they don't wish to dilute them with Scripture. The former produce posts that are worth reading; the latter do not. Into which do you prefer to be placed? --Hank
63 | New Age Movement new? | Gen 3:5 | Hank | 4670
What are some of the common emphases of the New Age movement? Is it really new or is it, in actuality, as old as Genesis 3, when Satan deceived man into believing he could become as God by his own efforts? --Hank
64 | Have you built your ark yet? | Gen 6:14 | Hank | 5460
From this verse, Genesis 6:14, and this verse alone, isn't it perfectly clear that God expects each one of us to build an ark? Some doctrines have been based on little more than a random verse, so why shouldn't we stock up on gopher wood and start building? --Hank
65 | Question #1 for tremere123 | Exodus | Hank | 67769
tremere123: OK, I accept your invitation: impress me! From your post #67739: "...God gave us free will and in order to give us free will He had to create a bad choice as well as a good choice." ... Please show this forum where the Bible teaches any such thing as this. Remember your promise. Cite Chapter and Verse. --Hank
66 | Question #2 for tremere123 | Exodus | Hank | 67770
tremere123: From your post #67739: "Rumor has it that several angels are jealous that we humans can choose to love God." ..... Is this is a biblical teaching? Can you can cite a biblical reference for it? If so, apparently the Bible has begun to deal in rumor, is that not true? --Hank
67 | Question #3 for tremere123 | Exodus | Hank | 67771
tremere123: From your post #67735: "...if we don't believe God's work or testimony...that is (Jesus) we cannot believe in God who did or created the work (Jesus)." Again, chapter and verse. Are you saying that God created Jesus? --Hank
68 | Question #4 for tremere123 | Exodus | Hank | 67772
tremere123: From your post # 67733: In answer to the question regarding the qualifcations of an elder, you posted this: "I think that an elder is someone who is either older than you or someone in authority"...etc. The New Testament lays down specific qualifications for elders. What are they, and why did you not answer this question from Scripture instead of with a vague and rambling series of "I thinks"? --Hank
69 | Question #5 for tremere123 | Exodus | Hank | 67773
tremere123: From your post #67713: "...there is only one sin that cannot be forgiven and that is to deny or 'blasphemy' God once you make the commitment to be 'reborn'." .... Jesus makes it clear what the unforgivable sin is. Do you know what it is and can you cite the scriptural reference for it? And where do you find scriptural support your phrase "once you make the commitment to be reborn?" How does one make a commitment to be reborn? Does he "reborn" himself? --Hank
70 | DBR: Questions on Post 127129 | Ex 3:14 | Hank | 127136
DBR: Your arguments in Post 127129 spark interest. What is your stand on trinitarianism -- is it a biblical concept? Specifically, do you hold to the belief in the full deity of Jesus Christ? I must say that to my mind your post smacks of Watchtower views. Am I wrong? --Hank
71 | Smile and say Jeez? | Ex 13:21 | Hank | 111441
Punkledo, your post contains the interjection "JEEZE." It has two flaws. One, it is misspelled. The expression is "jeez." Two, "jeez" is an alteration of the word "Jesus" -- hardly a fit interjection to use on a Study Bible Forum, or for a Christian to use anywhere else, wouldn't you agree? --Hank

76 | Dietary value of dietary laws? | Leviticus | Hank | 7854
The question is NOT to argue any theological aspects of the Old Testament dietary laws. Theology aside, were there any strictly dietary, nutritionally-based reasons for them? Do these dietary laws have any nutritionally-based value today in light of what we supposedly know about what foods are good and what foods are bad for us? --Hank
77 | Christianity and Homosexuality? | Leviticus | Hank | 29287
gpaulturner: You post innuendo. If you have a position on Christianity and homosexuality, would you mind stating it clearly? I note your spelling "recognised"; you are perhaps British? --Hank

Why did God allow the Israelites to wander in the desert for 38 years?
79 | Memorize the Bible? | Deut 6:6 | Hank | 3826
Let's share thoughts and insights about Bible memorization. When I hear some preachers erupting in a salvo of Bible passages, one after another in rapid-fire order, I frankly become envious and say to my wife, "Gee, I wish I could do that." She always comes back with an answer I'd prefer not to hear, "If you studied as heard as they do, perhaps you could." Do you feel the grinding effort to memorize Bible passages is well worth the effort? Are there passages in the Bible that set a precedent for memorizing Scripture? What are some of the benefits of Bible memorization? How do you personally go about it? And, finally, with the staggering number of translations available today, how have you solved the problem of which translation you wish to commit to memory? --Hank
