Bible Question (short): Country Girl: Scripture...or Opinion? |
Question (full): Country Girl: There are five paragraphs in your post #126082 and an equal number of opinions: 2 each of "I believe," 2 of "in my opinion," and 1 of "I do not believe." One verse of Scripture is cited, which does not support the opinions. Having given five opinions of your own, you conclude your post by asking Bruce7, "What do you think?" -- apparently thus encouraging him to speculate too. ...... In consideration of this being a Bible study Forum, is it not more appropriate to preface or footnote Christian doctrinal statements with "Thus says the Lord" scriptural references instead of something so empty and worthless as "In my opinion"? ..... Scripture never prizes human opinion, but it does say that "All Scripture (note: it says ALL SCRIPTURE; it does not say, ALL OPINION) is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16). .......By and large, users of this Forum can be divided into two groups, they being those who are careful to document their posts with Scripture and those who view their opinions so highly that apparently they don't wish to dilute them with Scripture. The former produce posts that are worth reading; the latter do not. Into which do you prefer to be placed? --Hank |
