603 | how any gentiles did jesus healed | Matt 15:30 | stjohn | 185449
Hi jesse, welcome! I'm guessing you meant how many? The Bible doesn't say. But, you can be sure it was probably thousands. This is one of many accounts of Jesus healing many that came to Him to be healed. Matt 15:29 Departing from there, Jesus went along by the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up on the mountain, He was sitting there. 30 And large crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, mute, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and He healed them. 31 So the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. there is also an account of ten lepers being healed, three were raised from the dead. The men with a withered hand, the crippled man at the pool, and many more. And also there were many that were not recorded. Jesus is the real deal. King of Kings! God bless. John |

604 | HasFaith is given to all universally? | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 185439
Hi Hobbs! The Bible doesn't say that faith is given to all, i.e. saving faith that is, but we know that all are born with a conscience, and, I think it is easy to see, that that is the working of the holly spirit. I believe that all people are born with a conscience. This is part of what is known as general revelation, i.e. the heavens declare His glory. Unless you have a mental deficiency called sociopathy, i.e. the inability to think in terms of right and wrong, the fact is, that all people are born with a conscience. This is to most clear thinking theologians, a very clear evidence of the fact, that the Holly Spirit is in the world, and has influence over men. So, this gives all men the opportunity to choose good over evil, or evil over good. Satin influences people to do evil, God influences people to do good. This is what is called horse sense, or common sense. And, no, there is no clear reference in scripture that proves or disproves its existence. But we all know that common sense exists because we can see it. If you stick your hand in the fire, you will get burned! God Bless. John |

606 | Does my view violate context or grammer? | Gen 27:33 | stjohn | 185106
hello atdcross; warm welcomes! You wrote: "I can agree that it was Isaac’s “repentance” that Esau sought." Well I came up with the same answer but a diferant approach I thought it might me interesting to look at. I hope you don't mind. I'm just having some fun. Gen 27:4 and prepare a savory dish for me such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, so that my soul may bless you before I die." Apparently Isaac didn't intend to follow God's plan to bless Jacob, I guess it looks like Isaac didn't really believe God. He apparently intended not to honor God's plan to bless Jacob. Then we have this. Mal 1:3 "but I have hated Esau, and I have made his mountains a desolation and appointed his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness." Esau was no Friend of God. In fact that is the only time we hear mention of God Hating anyone. Now thats quite a statement God makes about Easu. And it gives us a pretty good idea about Easu's character. Never mind everything els we read about him. How can we say that Esau sought God's Repentance when he obviously didn't give a hoot about God. He was a worldly selfish man, who wanted a blessing from Isaac. Gen 27:34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, "Bless me, even me also, O my father!" Gen 27:36 Then he said, "Is he not rightly named Jacob, for he has supplanted me these two times? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing." And he said, "Have you not reserved a blessing for me?" Gen 27:38 Esau said to his father, "Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father." So Esau lifted his voice and wept. Me, me, my, me, me, my, my, me! Sounds like the ramblings and whining of a spoiled brat! don't you think? And besides not only did Isaac not believe God. But Jacob evidently didn't believe God, and by the way neither did Rebekah believe God. The whole family was suffering from theodisfuntionalism! I know thats probably not a word but I had fun. How can we reasonably say, that Easu, even had any Idea what was on God's mind. The guy couldn't buy a clue! God was the last thing on that old boys mind. So, my friend I would have to say that; Easu most defiantly 'was,' seeking Isaac's repentance. I'm sorry, I don't Know any greek. When studying I find it sometimes better to put content over context or gramer. two ways, one answer. Hope your having fun as-well. God bless. stj |

607 | What about vs.10 | 2 Tim 1:6 | stjohn | 185101
Dear Huck; May I say first that I am in total agreement with brother Tim, And beautifully spoken. 2 Tim 1:10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, By the work that Jesus did for us on the Cross, that is the perfect sacrifice for sin, as the wages of sin is death, In the Old Testament, the death and blood of a lamb was required as a sacrifice to cover sin, and the animal had to be without spot or blemish. Jesus being without spot or blemish, for 'all' but him only have sinned. He alone did not sin. He is, 'Without spot or blemish'. So, by him becoming sin for sinful man, reveals to us that the whole of Scripture, that is the 'Gospel' in v,10 and by His being raised from the dead, gives us the truth of eternal life, that is 'immortality' in v,10, into the light of 'our' understanding. And by His 'appearing' in v,10, on the seen, and doing this wonderful work for us, "the 'appearing' of our savior Jesus Christ" This has brought into the light for our understanding, the whole of Scripture, which is the 'Gospel'. The whole of the Gospel, points to our savior Jesus Christ, and His perfect sacrifice for the salvation of you and me, into eternal life. He is our 'salvation' "our 'saviour' Jesus Christ" in v,10 And all that come to Him by faith. 'For no-one comes to the Father but by Me' Will have life in Him for eternity! (which is a wonderful gift by the way! don't you think?) Everything about the Old Testament, points forward, To the Cross, and everything about the New Testament points back. to the Cross. It has been said, that the summation of the Gospel is the Cross. Keeping this in mind when reading v,10 helps me a lot. I hope this helps you my friend. Love in Christ. stj |

608 | Homesexuality is a sin, right? | Lev 20:13 | stjohn | 185053
Hi wisdom! the Word of God is very clear on this. This is defiantly saying in plain english. That if a man does with a man what he does with a women; it is an abomination! KJV Liv.20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. God is not messing around here! God bless stj |

609 | Old Testemant | Heb 8:13 | stjohn | 185043
Hi megd; Yes absolutely! there is no justification in the old, for none could keep the law. Justification and salvation are in Jesus christ alone. We are in the new covenant, by the work that He has done on the Cross for sinful man. And He promises to keep "all" that are His! Praise God! God bless stj |

611 | Ephesian 3:10 | Eph 3:10 | stjohn | 185017
Hello Azure; Here is something from Crosswalk.com I have found them very helpful in my study John Gill's Exposition of the Bible Ephesians 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places? By whom are meant, not civil magistrates, much less evil angels, but the good angels, the angels in heaven; (See Gill on Ephesians 1:21). might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God; not the perfection of wisdom, nor Jesus Christ the wisdom of God, nor the holy Scriptures; but the Gospel, which is the pure produce of the wisdom of God; which is gloriously displayed in the several doctrines of it; as in election, in choosing men in Christ for the security of their persons, in founding it not upon their works, but his own grace, for the security of his purpose, and in pitching on such persons as he has, for the magnifying of his grace: and in redemption, which is seen in the person of the Redeemer, who is both God and man; and in the manner in which it is effected, being both for the glory of God's grace and mercy, and for the honour of his justice and holiness; and wherein Satan is mortified, sin is condemned, and the sinner saved: and in justification, whereby sinful men become just with God: God is just, and yet the justifier of him that believes; the ungodly is justified, and yet not justified in his ungodliness, but from it: and in the pardon of sin, in which iniquity is forgiven, and yet vengeance is taken on men's inventions; it is an act of mercy, and yet of justice; it is by price, and yet of free grace; and the like may be observed of all other doctrines of the Gospel. And it may be called "manifold", because of its various doctrines and promises and because of the various instances of wisdom in them, and the various persons to whom it is made known, and the various times in which it is displayed: and now under the Gospel this is more clearly known, or made known to the angels by the church of God, through the ministry of the word in it, on which angels attend, being desirous to look more diligently into the mysteries of it; and by the displays of the wisdom and grace of God unto his church and people. I hope this helps. God bless stj |

613 | difference in Conviction and Confession | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 184988
Hi Wadene; Conviction; is a condition of conscience, by the working of the Holly Spirt, which brings awareness of condemnation. The purpose of this, is to lead us to salvation. Confession; is an "admission" of an offense, primarily sin. And a "proclamation" of a belief in something, or a "statement" of faith. God bless stj |

614 | What does it say about Chrisitan Adultre | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 184979
Hello Mrs. Q The Bible most defiantly speaks of the sanctity of marriage. And if she is a Christian she certainly should know this. However; not that we are insensitive to your problem. But this is a Bible study forum, and I am sorry but I think it would be unfair to toughs using this site for Bible study to engage in marriage counseling. I am sorry. May I suggest that you have a real heart to heart with your husband, and tell "him", how important this to you. Does "He" know that your marriage is in jeopardy? God bless stj |

615 | Shape or Form | Luke 8:27 | stjohn | 184926
Hi Grace; I'm Sorry if my answer was cold, I really didn't Intend for it to be, and I'm sorry if it came across as condescending. Please, if I may, I'd like to start over with a warm welcome. I guess my answer could and should have been no, I'v not seen a demon. But I Know some who "claim" to have seen them. Although; if you new them, as I Know them, you would not think them a credible source for the truth, any more then I do. (If you Know what I mean). However, I most certainly believe in demons, and that people that we meet, in the world could be possessed or influenced by them. My goodness when we look at the world today with all the hatred and senseless killing what with suicide bombers and all, and the filth and violence on TV. I think that stuff is striate out of hell! Sorry! I don't want to sound like a fire and brimstone preacher. But it wouldn't surprise me, if there was more demon activity then we really want to admit to ourselves. well, any way, I digress. I don't know if I could say "in the "form" of people". The Bible teaches that Demons need a bodily host. But, maybe I misunderstood the wording of your question, sorry if I did. It is my hope, that we Here "could" touch you in some way, and that God would "Grace" you with faith in Him that saves. Pardon my play on words. Well, have a great day Grace, and I hope you will come back and visit us. Hows that? better I hope? And again; sorry for the cold response. God bless and keep you my dear. stj |

616 | Shape or Form | Luke 8:27 | stjohn | 184922
Hi Grace; Demons manifest themselves by the actions or deeds of toughs that they "possess" or "influence". I do not Know of a Scripture that would indicate otherwise. There are many, who have some pretty wild and fantastic ideas about demons and such. But the "Scriptures" are our only "reliable" source. And we should, "stick to them". God bless stj |

617 | can it really all be another trick? | Is 14:12 | stjohn | 184907
Hi other.... I just wanted to say this, as I too have spent some time in pentecostal surroundings. And I want to be very careful here, so that I do not offend "any" of our pentecostal Brothers and Sisters. Please... Know my heart. I love them dearly! But, I have gained a deeper and better understanding of God's Word outside of toughs surroundings. And very frankly, I don't understand ether, how they can come to some of there conclusions, when you cant find any real evidence for them in the Holly Scriptures. I do Know this, for the most part they are beautiful, happy, children of God. And I put no blame on them whatsoever. I did find it very frustrating though, trying to point to some of the misconceptions In our Bible study, as they are convinced, "many say" because of there "experience" and some would even say. We know the Bible might say that, but does it really mean that? what about our experience? seeing is believing. One poor woman was convinced that a demon couldn't possess our spirt but it could for-instance live in her big toe. Were are you going to find evidence for that in the Bible? And how do you even argue with that? This, I think, is where we need to be ever so careful. We really need to rely on Scripture for our learning of the truth of God's Word. But more then that, PRAY and ask God. Believe me, I spent many an hour on my face, asking God for the truth, because so many around me were so convinced, and so convincing. But God; "eventually" won that battle. But it did take time. The more you read and study the Bible, and more importantly PRAY and ask, God WILL shed light on the truth. And I can say this. At least for me any way, because it was such a struggle. Once God put the truth in me, well sister, It was branded on my heart! And I can say with all certainty, that the Holly Spirt has made it real to me! And I'm not saying I know it all, Just ask some of the others on this forum that have had to straiten me out! So I believe, "because" of that experience, And, in spite of the love that I received wile there that kept me going and wanting more of God... The inconsistencies of the teaching, Well , that sent me searching, just like it did to you, my dear friend. And that is a good thing! God is a rewarder of toughs that diligently seek Him! So sing and rejoice and be glad in it. And, please don't think I'm suggesting that you leave that congregation. Just let the Spirt of God and His Word guide you. And any time we Can help you here, we would be pleased and honored to do so. Love and peace to you and God bless. stjohn . |
