581 | The bible is a work of fiction - discuss | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 15516
Well, there ARE exceptions for every rule. :) Actually, I always heard the I before E except after C but never heard the except A as in neighbor or weigh till I read it in my daughter's spelling book last night. :) I was wondering why there were so many exceptions, now I know about the A sounding ones anyway. :) Those kids have some hard words tho, some I wonder how many adults would spell them right, like pedestrian, recognize, mischievous, shoot, I misspelled mischievous, thought it was mischievious. :) I think I messed her up on vehicle too. |

585 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Norrie | 15326
Thank you very much! What you said made a lot of sense. I guess I never looked at it with that verse. :)
586 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Norrie | 15292
Tim, I know of a similar situation. A person on another forum had about the same story as your bil but he also was a musician and played w/many of the Christian artists too, claimed he was baptized in the spirit, was Christian all the way, but now is a pagan priest and a homosexual. I'd say that is a case of throwing away salvation. There are those that say, well, he was never REALLY saved, but how do we know? He claimed he was, he confessed it. But now he has a different confession and puts down Christianity every chance he gets. Then on other forums, you run across many people w/the same story who are rabid Christian haters now but claim to have been Christians at one time. I have run across some real loonies on other forums, make your blood curl.
587 | Should we be using company computers? | Ex 20:15 | Norrie | 15285
I guess it would ok on breaks and lunch time. :) But someone shouldn't be neglecting their jobs for it-might end up getting fired. Besides, it wouldn't be right.
588 | Why offended by Adams Grandaughters | Gen 1:1 | Norrie | 15042
Why, Nolan, I can't believe one of those ladies from your church hasn't snagged you for a son-in-law yet-you must be too slippery! ;)
589 | Must Christians keep the Sabbath today? | Ex 20:8 | Norrie | 14976
Keeping the Sabbath is the only commandment not mentioned again in the NT. Are you a Messianic Jew? Do you mind answering some Jew questions, like what is the difference in Jews? I have a friend that says Jews are only from the tribe of Judah so not all Jews are really Jews. Then there are the Zionists, etc. She says the Zionists are the ones like the movie moguls who are the liberals starting all the contraversy, there are more Zionists than Jews in Israel, etc. What is the real story or do you know? It might be too confusing for anyone to straighten out. :) I mean, if the Jews that are in Israel are really Zionists (which accd to her are troublemakers), then are the Israel prophecies valid today or not as far as Israel being a nation? I get lost on all this. :) |

592 | Inquiring minds want to know. | 2 Tim 2:23 | Norrie | 14663
Radioman, I just thought you got tired of the pussyfooting around and decided to nip it by giving short, quick answers. I didn't see where you did anything wrong, all you did was get to the point really quick. :) Maybe we need a few more quick answers.
593 | Divine Healing, True or False? | Matthew | Norrie | 14660
Kimberly, I understand what you're getting at. I studied that for 18 yrs too. But don't get too caught up in waiting for a harvest. Expect it but don't act like it's the main objective. I guess that's where the faith ministers lose it. What you're saying is true, but then people start focusing on the harvest instead of Jesus, you know what I'm trying to say? Stay focused on Him. :)
594 | sex before marriage--going to heaven? | Rom 8:38 | Norrie | 14486
I've read where before there were marriage laws and pieces of paper, that constituted marriage too. God's plan was for 2 people to be married, then have sex and with only that person. That way you will be satisfied w/that person too. When you have multiple partners, someone's image always comes up at the wrong time or you compare, then there's always the disease factor, etc. I wish I knew back then what I know now. I plan on my daughter living a different lifestyle than I did, but we all know how plans go. But at least she will know beforehand. Hi Neighbor, I'm AL 36605-2226 :) |

596 | Are the poor expected to repay debt? | Prov 19:17 | Norrie | 14423
The ones I know always want a loan, but you know when you give it to them you'll never see that money again. :) The worse ones are those relatives Cain needed protection from. :)
597 | Are the poor expected to repay debt? | Prov 19:17 | Norrie | 14378
I would say that anybody who borrows money should pay it back. But when you lend to someone who is obviously poor, chances are they will not be able to pay you back. A good rule is never lend anybody more than what you are willing to give them because you will prob end up giving it whether you want to or not-been there, done that! :)
598 | Salvation | OT general | Norrie | 14311
God's Plan of Salvation The Bible says there is only one way to Heaven Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6) Good works cannot save you. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) Trust Jesus Christ today! Here's what you must do: Admit you are a sinner. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23) "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12) "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10) Be willing to turn from sin (repent). Jesus said: "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:5) "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:" (Acts 17:30) Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9) Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Saviour. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10) "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) What to pray: Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, as a Christian you should: Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15) "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119:105) Talk to God in prayer every day. "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." (Matthew 21:22) "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6) Be baptized, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached and the Bible is the final authority. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Matthew 28:19) "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16) Tell others about Christ. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15) "For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" (1 Corinthians 9:16) "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16) |

599 | Answer the Question | OT general | Norrie | 14309
Brian, you ought to be able to say as far as you know, they say you must do, believe whatever to be saved. As far as salvation goes, my church which is So. Bapt. believes salvation is exactly as the Bible describes it to be. We teach the kids the ABCs in vacation Bible school-ADMIT you're a sinner, BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth, died on the cross for our sin and rose again on the third day, CONFESS Him w/your mouth. Now that's the simplified children's version, not getting deep where you get into repentance and what that means. :) Surely you can give a simplified version, what do you tell your kids?
