521 | Are there any "people" created by Satan? | Gen 2:7 | gracefull | 76193
mommapbs...I have a question....How is Satan a 'powerful being'? If he can't create (which he can't) and if he has no authority over born again believers, what power does he have? Ephesians 118-22 I pray that He will give light to the eyes of your hearts, so that you will understand the hope of which He has called you, what rich glories there are in the inheritance He has promised His people, and how surpassingly great is His power working in us who trust Him. It works with the same mighty strength he used when He worked in the Messiah to raise Him from the dead and seat Him at His right hand in heaven, far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, or any other name that can be named either in the heavens or in the earth. Also, He has put all things under His feetand made Him head over everything for the Messianic Community, which is His body, the full expression of Him who fills all creation. Also read 2:1-6 Vs. 6 That is, God raised us up with the Messiah Yeshua and seated us with Him in heaven... He is the head, and we are the body. Scripture says all principalities and powers (authorities) are under His feet, so does that not mean they are under our authority because He is the head and we are the body? I believe 2:6 bears this out because scripture says God seated us with Him..at the right hand..symbolic of authority. Do not get me wrong, I know Satan still works in the children of disobedience, and is waring against believers, but it seems the only way he can win is if we let him. I believe Satan's most powerful weapon against the body of Christ is to convince us he has ANY authority over us. Then of course, we would surrender. HOW GREAT is HIS POWER WORKING IN US... I used the "Complete Jewish Bibel" translation. What do you see in these scriptures? |

522 | What are the "greater gifts?" | 1 Cor 12:31 | gracefull | 76036
Hi mommapbs, I don't see in chapter 13 where Paul states that love is a gift, but more the engine that drives the train. Since God is love, and the gifts are simply the Holy Spirit who works by love, without love the gifts not only WON'T work, they CAN'T work because they are manifestations of God Himself through yielded human vessels. 523 | are we saved by grace alone? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 76010
Dear itiswritten, I was reading in the "Complete Jewish Bible" this morning and your post reminded me of what I read.. Romans 10:9-10 that you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that Yeshua is Lord, and trust in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be delivered. For with the heart one goes on trusting and thus continues toward righteousness, while with the mouth one keeps on making public acknowledgement and thus continues toward deliverance. For the passage quoted says that everyone who rests his trust on Him will not be humiliated. (Isa. 28:16) God bless |

524 | Speaking in tongues? | 1 Corinthians | gracefull | 75995
Thank for your clarification. Our culture in America is often one of arrogance through 'much learning'. To clarify the statement 'uneducated' by using the term spiritually immature. Also keep in mind that the GIFT of tongues (prophetic message from the Holy Spirit to be followed by interpretation in the congregation) is not the same thing as tongues to be used in private worship and prayer. Although I do not take the position that to be filled with the Spirit one MUST speak in tongues, I rather take the position that to be filled with the Spirit one can speak in tongues (prayer language available to all). My position is from the opposite side of the same coin...If one IS Spirit filled they CAN speak in tongues, pray in the Spirit between them and God, and as Paul said should ask for the interpretation. From this positive perspective, why would one reject this precious gift? Tongues as with anything else we receive from God must be received by faith..faith denoting belief AND action. I think this is the "try to force the gift" idea. Often full gospel believers will try to help those seeking to understand that although the ability to speak in tongues is present becuase the Holy Spirit is present, they must speak, they must step out by faith ant their vocal cords and brain is involved. You asked if I spoke in public...Yes. When I was first 'filed with the Spirit and spoke in tongues' I was taught properly in praying quietly or in my prayer closet. About 10 years later the Lord impressed that He had given me the GIFT of tongues, and when the Holy spirit desires to speak the 'unction' is different. Since this is 'experience' and not scripture, it is inappropriate for this forum. If you would like to continue a conversation elsewhere, let me know. God bless |

525 | Speaking in tongues? | 1 Corinthians | gracefull | 75901
1 Corinthians 14:13-14 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. One is to pray for the understanding of their prayer language. Your statement "..seeing uneducated people spout gibberish..." brings two points to mind... 1. The language is Holy Spirit given, one does not need an education...Why would you say such a thing? 2. How do you know it is gibberish? It could very well be their prayer language and in their spiritual immaturity don't understand how to speak quietly to God. One other point, I have heard (and spoken through) the gift of tongues and the interpretation did not come forth. When God unctions a prophetic utterance there is always an interpreter, however for a variety of reasons the interpreter may not obey. Points to pray about... God bless |

527 | disciplerami, Are we sinful by nature? | Rom 5:12 | gracefull | 75577
P.S. This does not mean I did not lie before the law came, nor does it mean that to lie was not sin until the law came. Adam sinned LONG before the law was given.
528 | disciplerami, Are we sinful by nature? | Rom 5:12 | gracefull | 75576
My 2 cents The little baby will touch both the rattle and the nick knack...but he learns it is wrong to touch the nick knack when he is told. It did not become wrong because he was told. This scripture is not saying sin is learned. It is saying that until the law came and told me I was not aware that sin was sin. Until the law told me to lie was a sin, I did not know it was sin. This does not mean I did not lie until the law came. God bless |

530 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75351
There are a few who havebeen exposed for lying and deception, however, my point was that just because one does not receive healing when hands are laid upon them does not mean the one praying is fake. It was the blanket statement that caused me to pause. Remember Mark 6:6. Continue in the word and believe it despite anyting you see or hear! And be very cautious to criticize others. Let God do the correction, He is very good at it. God bless you! |

531 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75312
P.S. Do not interpret my post to in any way imolicate that I do not believe we should seek our dorctors counsel or take medecine. I do belive we should seek God's word for the truth of His wil to heal, while maintaining our care. When faith comes, God can heal whether we are taking medecine or not! Nor was my statement a criticism of your faith, ut rather a declaration that it is God's word we must rely on, not men, and it is Go's word that provides, not men. I believe many have gone to men seeking them to heal and when it did not happen they concluded that God did not want them healed. That, and any other concuusion must come from the Word of God. Romans 10:17 God bless |

532 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75309
Searcher, I find your answer interesting. Please explain it scripturally. "I have faith to be healed so if they cannot heal me, they are fake". God heals not man. So if God does not heal you, the teacher is fake? If someone teaches the Word of God and the Word of God does not produce the promise in your life, the teacher is fake? If someone preaches the new birth and someone does not receive, was the word untrue? Was the teacher 'fake'? My dear one, God heals through Faith in His Word, faith in His covenant, faith in Jesus Christ's redemptive work. NO MAN on earth can heal and if we go to them expecting THEM to heal we most assuredly will come away empty. God bless |

533 | searching for the truth | John 14:25 | gracefull | 75215
Hi Ray: 1. I believe God indwells, from a variety of scripture, bu I will use John 14:17 ...because He abides with you and will be in you. I agree there are times when He 'comes upon' for a specific task, but I do not recognize 'coming upon' as external. 4. At times Jesus refered to Himself as the Father, (here in John...Philip said "show us the father" and Jesus said Have I been with you so long time, and yet you have not known me? He said I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Verses 8-10 Note verse 23 Jesus answered and said to him (Judas) If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and WE will come to him and make OUR abode with him. I also agree with your pronouns in vs 11 and 17. Holy Spirit power? That will take some time. But as I do not see the trinity as 3 in on with singleness of purpose, I can't see that it matters a lot. When the Holy Spirit manifest His will in the natural, one can't truly seperate His manifestations from God or Jesus, even if He is the power. When Jesus said, "all power (authority( has been given to me, both in heaven and in earth" did He usurp the authority of the Father? No, because it was God the Father's authority to give. I do believe the Holy Spirit is God in man to carry on the work of Jesus under His authority which is under the authority of the Father. John 14:11-12. Because He went to the Father, the Father sent the Comforter to empower us to do the works of Jesus and greater works. Sadly I believe we do not receive the fullness of this truth because we are AFRAID due to religion teaches us that to believe we can do the works of Jesus is blasphemy, elevating ourselves to the position of God. Fear has crippled the body of Christ from fulfilling it's job! And this is not Godly fear because Godly fear would fear NOT doing the works of Jesus after having been sent to do so. The difference? I am not God but God dwells in me to do His will if I will listen and obey! Again I reference Mark 16 Is it not fascinating how the trinity has been expressed as one and all in this one chapter? I agree with your extra pronouns. I have to go. God bless |

534 | searching for the truth | John 14:25 | gracefull | 75194
Good morning Robert. I will start from the beginning based on your response "lost sheep wondering". First I would point you to the book of John. Specifically chapter 3. One must be born again to enter the Knogdom of God. Also 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. We are all (every human being) born under the curse of sin. We are born with a sin nature because of the sin of Adam. Romans 5:18-20. Adam fell and we all came under the curse of the law of sin and death. Condemned to eternity in hell and having NO HOPE, until Jesus came. God came to earth in the flesh to pay the death penalty for each of us. The only requirement is to accept Him as saviour. Romans 10:8-10 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is the word of faith, which we preach; That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Read the book of John in it's entirety(even a few times) because it is the best description of Jesus Christ to someone who is seeking. Summary... The first encounter with the Holy Spirit is at the point of conviction. He is the one who convicts us of sin as we hear verbally or hear through reading God's word. He reveals holiness and therefore we recognize sin. At this point we must make a personal decision to accept the truth the Holy Spirit brings, "I am a sinner in need of a savior." If we choose to repent and ask God forgiveness and mercy through Jesus, we must Confess with our mouth that Jesus is your Lord and saviour. You may be passed this point, but I do not know. God bless |

535 | searching for the truth | John 14:25 | gracefull | 75193
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. He is the power of God. In Genesis 1:2 He moved across the face of the waters. God spoke the Word (John 1:1:1) and the Holy Spirit did the work. God the Father, God the son (Word) God the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was the step from being a carnal minded Christian, a believer who saw God working from the external and did not know Him in His supernatural work. I went from being 'God with me enlightened' to 'God in me enlightened'. It is the difference in seeing Corinthians and Acts and Mark 16:15-20 as current relative reality instead of history. When I compare John 14:25 with John 14:17 I see this... Jesus was Holy Spirit filled and led by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:16 Matthew 4:1 Matthew 12:27-29 Vs 25 says "These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But in verse 17 He speaks of the Holy Spirit not as himself, He differentiates between the two. He says the when He leaves, the Holy Spirit will come. When He says you know Him because He abides with you, He is speaking of the presence of the Holy Spirit within Him. Summary.. Jesus was filled with, led by and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God. His works and words revealed the nature of the Holy Spirit to the disciples and all who desired to see. He is telling the disciples that they will know Him because He has already been with them. They will recognize Him. God bless |

Commit him to the Lord and move on. Do not allow the failures of others to influence your relationship with the Lord or other believers. Remember, we need to forgive, even when we have not been asked to, or when the other has repented. Not fellowshiping and harbouring unforgiveness are totally different. God bless |

538 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 75025
Good morning mommapbs.. Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Spiritual bondage of the law was the bondage of the awareness of sin and the keeping of the laws and ordinances looking forward in faith to Jesus, the Seed promised to Abraham, the redeemer. Romans 11:32 Explains it this way.."For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all." The law brought bondage by revealing that all are sinners in need of a redeemer. Galatians 4:9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? Why after being set free (made righteous by faith) would you want to return to the legal ordinances that were not capable of making you righteous? Many times believers do come into bondage to putting their faith in their works to be the source of righteousness. Ephesians 3:17-21 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever. Amen What do you see? God bless |

539 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | gracefull | 74988
Stacey, My heart is griped with compassion. Your story is so true. Have you considered sharing it with other ladies who are searching? They need to know that they have been lied to and that they will bear so much pain. It is Not like having a tumor removed. No woman ever had a tumor removed and felt such lose. Purhaps helping others would help you? God has forgiven and it is under the blood! But as we all know, there are choices we make that despite forgiveness, even self forgiveness, the memory and the surfaces every now and then. Just mediate on His great love for you during those times and allow the Holy Spirit to comfort in the way no person can! God bless you my sister and thank you for sharing your testimony. Someone may read and find hope and courage to make the decision to trust Jesus. |

540 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | gracefull | 74945
Good morning...No, I am not having any of the problems I listed. But many women are, and they need to hear that God has a blessed alternative to the sin of murder, that is not their only choice, and Satan would have them believe it is. My point was that love does not kill. God is love and He always provides a Godly way through all of lifes obstacles. I hope someone reading this thread will be encouraged to look to God for His direction instad of believing the lie of Satan that abortion is right and the only resolution. God bless |
