41 | Kingdom of God...now? | Not Specified | Ken hepting | 101306
What is the Treasure in the hidden in Field/The Pearl of great price? Jesus likened them to the kingdom of God. Do we see it that way or not think of it much at all? Jesus saves, this we know, but is there something more in this life that needs to be apprehended? How is it done if we see it?

43 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 101299
[Adam would have grown old ... he was aging, since man is noted by time.] I agree with you, though I didn't see it that way until recently.[I really didn't think anout it much] But having seen that in that light supports my belief that Adam was intended to be our role model, reaching a point in time when God would have transfigured him. I know that raises another question, "what about Christ". I can believe Adam would have been the "Word" made flesh. Your thoughts? |

Why not? God was after a human family, wasn't He? What did Lucifer have to do with it? I would guess it was because of Lucifer that He did.

Ephes. 1:15 (KJV) Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Philip. 1:25 (KJV) And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; Philip. 2:17 (KJV) Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. [6] But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: [7] Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: 1 Thes. 3:10 (KJV) Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? 2 Thes. 1:3 (KJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thes. 1:11 (KJV) Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 2 Tim. 1:5 (KJV) When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. 51 | The Substitute! | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 101130
I don't believe mom's verse she offers has to do with salvation unto eternal life, Justification, but more becoming unto Father that which Jesus modeled for us, i.e., Sanctfication. 10:9? "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" Confessing Him with the mouth is a given but the connotation seems to be that it must be an on going demonstration of Christ in ones life. Perserverance needed here [see Peter.] Ephesians 2:8-10? "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Saved to be saved. We have examples of people being healed by Christ [coming to Him] because of their own faith..in what they have come to believe He can do. Here is a list of ref. concerning faith. It is a mixture of verses that speak of the person's own faith and the faith of Christ that is within others mentioned. It's easy to mistake both faith's as being one and in a sense they are. But with careful exegesis it can seen that there are distinctions that are clearly there that they be one or the other when all of scripture pertaining to salvation and then becoming a son context is observed/retained. An example would be the "faith as a grain of mustard seed". Its clear me that that speaks of His faith [His faith equals the mind and power of God], not mine. So now if we read it that way it makes sense. My faith would be only "soul power", an excercise in conjurying. Christ Jesus IS the FAITH that Paul lived by, not his own. His own faith was just stayed on Christ. Christ did all the rest. A "mustard seeds" worth was more than enough. Continued..... |

[If you think it is incomplete, I am afraid you are trying to add to grace and therefore you don’t understand what I was saying in the first place because the Lord hasn’t revealed it to you yet, and that’s not my responsibility but the work of the Holy Spirit.] [mumblying to myself]...another who can't read. |

[The Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 2:3), filled them (Acts 2:4), and baptized them (Acts 1:5). How could they not have been indwelt at that time?] They had to be...they were before hand. John 20.22, remember? |

Acts 2:3 (NASB) And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested ON EACH ONE OF THEM. Acts 19:6 (NASB) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came ON THEM, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. Acts 11:15 (NASB) "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit FELL UPON them, just as He did upon us at the beginning. No "indwelling", here. |

[Now I repeat: 1 Cor. 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. If this isn't baptism with the Holy Spirit, then what is it?] The baptism into the Body of Christ. It is NOT the baptism of Acts 2 but rather John 20.22. |

57 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | NT general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 101088
No...How can that be when He said to them "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT". Nowhere is it written that that was symbolism. To the contrary that was the first time anyone was "Born Again"; The "indwelling" took place at that momment. Acts 2 was the "Coming upon" of the Holy Spirit; the receiving of the "priestly garment" typified in Ezek. 44; the "Promise of the Father"; the "Paraclete-Another Helper-Comforter" spoken of by Jesus. Again I ask you, What were the instructions given in Acts chapter 1? And wasn't it spoken to those who were ALREADY INDWELT by the Holy Spirit? In case you didn't realize it there are Three manifestions of the Holy Spirit. |

Playing games!!? I'm as serious as a heart attack!! I gave you verses that were very clear to anyone with understanding. Jesus said those words, not me. NOW..what do you think He meant by them. Again He was clear, why ask me? ...Not that you should have to think about it? FWIW, Paul reiterates it in Romans. |

mommapbs, I believe I may not have read your post correctly and wish to amend my remark. Col. 1:28 (KJV) [Christ] Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Col. 2:10 (KJV) And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. You wrote in response: [Ken, I hear what you are saying "we are saved to be saved" BUT this is a concept that I just can't reconcile. The operative word that you have shared is "may" - I believe that this little word recognizes the sovereignty of God. God IS sovereign - He is Lord no matter what I believe. I trust Him with my soul as I trust Him with yours and those who have yet to know Him. mommapbs] Those two verses speak of Paul teaching,i.e., bringing into perfection, "born-again" individuals. So when I said "saved to be saved" is meant to imply that we are Justified to be Sanctified. Innocence to be Pure. "Complete to be Completed". What sin has wrought in us the Holy Spirit is given that we [might] overcome, by pushing to the perify of our souls, all that is not of Christ by vurtue of the new birth. In this way is the kingdom of God made known to us. The Church is given the task of nuturing. It is the example set for it by Mary, by the Holy Spirit. Our individal resposibilties have to do with building ourselves up in the Faith of Christ. 1 Corth 14 speaks of how this is accomplished along with studying the scriptures that we guage/measure our progress and accuracy. Acts 2 is the beginning of this journey and it is a journey that is never complete until we see Him. Hopefully He will greet us with "Well done, good and faithful [full of Faith] servant". Keep in mind this verse in mind: Hebrews 2:10 (NASB) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, *[to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings]. *This is to perfect Christ in them. Hope this helps, encourages, and challenges everyone who claims Christ. May I suggest reading 1-2 Peter and 1 John before responding. As a matter of fact maybe all of the Epistles......;) |
